The System of Time

"Official Player"

Lavinia woke up with a stretch getting out of bed early and she moved towards her closet changing. Soon exiting her room looking at the time she was going to wake up her brother but it looks like he already left. She sighed a bit, now it was time to decide if she should go and get herself registered as a player. She rubbed her forehead thinking before her concentration was disturbed by a screen pop up. It seemed to be just an alert telling her about the daily training being refreshed.

Daily Training

Is now available

Run from a Giant Golem

Or defeat it

Total time

3 hours!

Start?

She looked at it this one made her worry about it seeing as the training first mentions running meaning the golem was most likely a lot stronger than her with her current abilities. The strange part is that it does say she could defeat it. No fighting it now would be a mistake but she can outrun it. As soon as she had any confirmation made up in her mind she was transported similar to the last training. This time it was a long and vast empty desert with the wind blowing up sand. Luckily the wind was not strong so she could still see for the most part. She was sure the training started as a screen next to her had a time that was counting down from three hours if this was the case and it did actually start where was the golem? Suddenly she felt the ground shake as sand shifted beneath her feet making her wobble a little as she moved away a bit from where the sand was shaking. Luckily she did as from the sand what she assumed to be the golem rose up and stared her down well with what staring it could. Golems like this one consist of a material they could find to create their body while the main source of life came from an orb either located in its chest or a smaller one in its head of the body created. This golem was made out of sandstone at its core. Was lodged into the forehead of the golems head. Lavinia knew the screen specifically said giant golem but she was not expecting this big of a golem. For comparison she could most likely fit in the palm of its hand. Speaking of hand as the hand rose into the air sand falling off the sides back onto the ground it suddenly threw its fist back and sent it driving straight at Lavinia. She saw this pretty quickly thus kicking off her sprint running through the desert. The sand only made it harder for her to run which was probably on purpose from the system when choosing this arena. Lavinia would be running for what felt like days but it was getting down to the wire of only 4 minutes left. These minutes turned to seconds as fatigue caught up with Lavinia making her slow down the golem being right on her tail. This lack of stamina made her trip up and fall to the ground looking up at the golem it charged back its fist throwing it at Lavinia who sat on the ground trying to catch her breath. Maybe she could regain some stamina and escape at the last moment. This was sadly wishful thinking as the fist a lot faster than she wanted it to be. Looking at the flashing stamina wheel she sighed looking up at the fist coming at her. She was waiting as it got closer she would use whatever she had left in her to escape. Then the time came when it got close enough she activated her dash skill, springing herself out of the way. In the moment it felt like she was moving in slow motion as she moved right as the fist slammed into the ground causing the ground to shift. Then out of nowhere she was transported back but this time instead of being in the position she was originally she was still in motion so when she came back she was sent flying into the hardwood floor of the apartment. She was still out of breath until a screen appeared in front of her as she sat up.

Training Complete!

Stamina is restored

Rewards will be distributed!

The screen disappeared following it two screens appeared one showing she leveled up three times. Seeing her level up three times made her really wonder how hard that training was to the system that it ended up giving her 3 levels.. The next screen that appeared showed off a new skill she gained. It seemed interesting.

You have gained

Perfect Parry

The screen soon closed, getting off the floor as good as new. She swiped at her clothes after that opened her stats menu, her new level being six followed by having nine stat points to distribute. She then decided to dump six points in strength leaving three which she then put into speed.

Looking at her stats she nodded happily with her selection and she exited the house. It was time to go and apply to being a player. She has studied this process almost her entire life waiting for the day she actually gets to go through it so it was almost like a dream come true but sadly she knew the fate of the ranking. Eventually arriving at the building looking up she watched how it loomed over it reminded her of the golem she fought earlier. Entering the building there were crowds of people, many already licensed and awakened players while others working at the help desks. After a quick sign up and application she found herself in the room she always dreamed of being in. It was a room with a lot of machines. In the center of the room lay an orb on a pedestal while it seemed like a black dead orb. When a player places their hand on it the orb would shine and change color then depending on the color was your rank you were given, or so she had heard. The color ranking system followed as such, gray is E-rank, green is D-rank, blue is C-rank, purple is B-rank, yellow is A-rank, and finally the rank which almost feels like a myth itself if it was not for the actual S-rank players. When someone equal to S-rank potential and power touch the orb it rises up by normal colors just like it would with other rankings that is until it reaches A-rank after hitting A-rank it starts to glow even brighter until it settles down and the orb turns prismatic displaying a rainbow like color pattern the inside of the orb looks like it is constantly shifting. This to Lavinia just seemed like a myth but maybe it was possible eventually. Her train of thought was suddenly ended by a member of the association walking in. What ended her train of thought was mostly because of the door opening. Looking at the person who walked in she recognized them almost instantly it was the same man from the hospital before she went back in time. The man shifted his posture standing on the other side of the room tapping at a monitor before clearing his throat and speaking, “Ok...welcome to your official player ranking test..this is really simple ok? All I ask is that you prepare yourself mentally take a deep breath then simply place your hand onto the orb and let the orb read your body,"Lavinia nodded as he continued to speak in a low tone, “Once done you should be able to know your rank after leaving this room today so please place your hand on the orb when ready.” Lavinia nodded as he gave a warm smile towards her. She stood in front of the orb taking a deep breath and reaching out her hand placing it on the orb. She watched the orb light up making her body feel tingly as suddenly it got really dark. Everything became the same highlight back in the hospital room. It was still the same room but everything felt weird. Suddenly she heard the clock again quickly turning around, leading her to see that the big clock was back floating out in an empty black void as half of the room she once was in magically disappeared leading into this empty void. Turning away caused her hand to fall off the machine or so she thought turning back she saw her hand still on the machine then moving to the side she saw her own body still touching the orb it was as if this was a separate space from the real world. Looking out towards the clock she slowly walked to the edge of the room looking down. The only way she could even tell it was an edge was because the room's walls were highlighted in blue. She did not know what it was but something compelled her to take a step off the edge but it was enticing. Then it was as if her body was moving on its own as her leg moved forward taking a step but her foot fell on empty ground as she fell forward slipping into the empty void below. She felt like she was falling forever until suddenly everything came crashing down in her mind as now she was back in the room on the ground being held up by the man doing her player test. He would give a big sigh of relief seeing as she opened her eyes, “thank god you're awake..” The man did not give much context as he helped her sit up so this prompted Lavinia to get her own context from him, “Why? What happened?” This question made the man sigh, shrugging a little, “You placed your hand on the orb and everything was ok until you suddenly collapsed after the orb had finished.” Lavinia nodded a little, eventually getting up the man still tried to help but she neglected his attempts, “So you have my ranking?” He was shocked by her sudden change in topic, “Oh yes of course you Lavinia are officially a D-rank” Lavinia smiled at this so her training pulled out and now she went from E-rank to D-rank she must have been borderline E-rank back then. The man went back to the monitor before speaking again, “Your official player license will be given to you at the front desk. You may exit the room” The man seemed to be nervous about letting her leave after that but he could not keep her here against her will. Lavinia said thank you before leaving the room swiftly heading to the front desk seeing a lady typing at her computer before looking at Lavinia, “Oh you must be Lavinia! Congratulations on your D-rank! Here is your license!” The lady reached down under the desk assumingly into a low drawer then handing Lavinia a card that seemed like an ID but with changed information mostly added like her player rank and day of official awakening. She took it excitedly, placing into her wallet smiling at the person quickly leaving. She proceeds to scroll through the internet looking for any posts you see due to the appearance of players. The internet has been used as a place for players to set up dungeon raids. This was known as the player forum where eventually after scrolling for a while Lavinia stopped and stared at a post reading the details they needed one more player to meet this group at a closed off area where a gate appeared to be some type of old mall. Lavinia accepted the request soon after getting into contact with the group; they soon accepted her into the raid. This was her first raid as a player!
