Bang*
My door flung open, slamming against the wall, adding yet another mark to the already cracked paint behind it.
Blankets flew off, exposing me to the cold of a winter morning. A hand tugged my shoulder as I groaned, annoyed.
"Nevaria!"
My mother.
"It's already 7:40, I thought you'd be dressed by now!" My mother pulled harder on my shoulder, "Please, stand up!"
Opening one eye, I looked upon the face of my mother. Anger, plastered on her already tired face. She raised an eyebrow.
"Yes mother," I answered quietly back...
With my response, she stepped back as I pushed myself upright. Now sitting upon the edge of my bed, I held myself with both arms tightly and with a shiver I spoke once more, "I'll get done. Ok mom..."
She left, leaving my door open to the world of my decrepit, small home. She knew I hated that, but alas, I couldn't complain.
I wiped at my eyes, fitted my glasses onto my face and with a yawn, I set to finding my clothes in my closet. 10 minutes later I stepped back, fully dressed yet feeling no less filthy than when i awoke...
I wore a Full plain dress that reached my knees, with a coat atop it, sporting whatever shoes I could find. To sum it up, I felt like a dork. I didn't have much in the way of choice to my clothes, a mishmash of whatever I could Find.
Heck, I was too tired to even think of washing myself up, besides I was late already as is.
Taking a look into the mirror which sat next to my cluttered closet. I stared into the eyes of someone I wholly hated.
Myself.
Unruly black hair curling down to my shoulders. A face well into puberty with pimples lining light peach coloured skin. I wasn't anything special, not cute, ugly to some. Neither interesting if I thought so myself.
Pulling the sleeve of my coat further down my arm, hiding my greatest shame.

I pressed the bridge of my glasses further on my face and with a sigh, I walked into the kitchen.
The radio atop our fridge was in the process of announcing local news.
"Yesterday, at 5pm, a known villain 'the redaxe' attempted a robbery at second-national bank before being subdu..."
Attention going back to my Mom. She stood, awaiting my entry, and with a show of her hands I found my eyes moving to the little side plate on the table before her.
1 slices of bread, lightly buttered.
Her angered face softened, "I'm sorry, we don't have much today but I'll make up for it with lunch when you get back..."
I blinked, tugging with a hand onto the hem of my dress. I was used to it. She didn't need to say a thing.
"It's okay, mom."
I ate, rushed to get my backpack and in less than 2 minutes I was out the door, strolling towards the epitome of my exhaustion. School.
Passing down the steps outside our small apartment, I looked up towards the cloudy sky, it seemed it might rain later on.
Passing through streets littered with far too much trash, and homes built upon one another crudely. It was strangely quiet. After passing a corner into one of Blue Creeks many main roads, my attention turned elsewhere as a squadron of police cars sped down the road, sirens blaring through the air. The noise ran into the distance, as the dotted figures of police cruisers disappeared in the horizon. Probably another villain on the loose somewhere out there...
It was just another average day, I guess.
Navigating through a few winding roads I made it to my school, successfully late and under a earful through my homeroom teacher.
Walking towards the back of the classroom, a girl in my class snickered gleefully, looking towards many of her accomplices.
I ignored them nd sat down at my empty desk. Until I felt a strange wetness underneat my skirt. Biting my lip, head faced down, I ignored it again, even as a few classmates around me chuckled.
Thereafter, for our first period, Ms. Charlize, our history teacher came in. She handed us notes, regarding the beginning of the cooperation of heroes and government civil security.
I dazed off, daydreaming really, having already studied the textbooks handed out earlier in the year. I had a grasp on what today's topic was on about already.
Heroes. Once alienated by society alongside their more evil counterparts, Villains. There was a small line that really differentiated the two. Sometimes having even been blurry in the times past...
Yet at the end of it all, I didnt care... Why should I... having lived in the more poverty stricken regions of Blue Creek, we'd barely get any crime dangerous enough to warrant the arrival of caped heroes, no less any opportunities for villains to decide to nest here. In this place... Southcreek, there was nothing for them here...
Even if, there were people that needed saving... like me, at a time...
The period dragged on as I mulled over thoughts in a trance and at a point, I almost hadn't heard the bell sounding...
With the teacher exiting, I was the first to stand up, to move, nd just as I did, a weight crashed into my backside.
With a yelp I fell, glasses cluttering towards the floor. I looked around as laughs arose, classmates roaring in laughter, some watching in pity...
"Sorry Nevi, you had something stuck there." A familar voice sounded.
I looked back, staring at a girl through my blurry sight, bright red hair, with a smile not even hiding her glee. "Here, I took it off for you..." Evelyn held a note which read 'KICK ME'.
I frowned, maybe even tearing up, still laying upon the cold floor...
I needed a Hero. Yet Each time I did... They were never there to save me.
