Prologue

Hovering over the planet Goldara for what feels like forever, the celestial body, known as Moon, floats idly by enjoying yet another beautiful view. Goldara in the distance became more green with more blue as time went on. It wondered how it could even see in the first place, but as the thought surfaced it was quickly answered by an image in its head.

Ability: Greater Arcane Sight, allows the user to see mana and element particles which take form and color of the surroundings.

Time passes differently in this abyss since there’s no days or nights, but it was never alone. On the other side of the planet, it could make out a ball of what looked like fire, light up the area and the planet below. It watched this ball of fire known as Sun for awhile now with curiosity. How it knew it was called Sun it had no idea. The name just popped into its head. After watching the sun and Goldara for another forever it felt something odd. Something with a female voice broke the everlasting silence.

“Ah, FinALLY! I made it back. I wonder how long it has been… eh whatever.”

“Who’s there?” It stopped speaking in its mind when it heard a younger female voice speak the same time it did.

”Who the hell was that?!” The young female voice sounded more like she wanted to punch something than frighten, unlike Moon.

After a moment of silence the mysterious female voice spoke again. “It’s been sooo long since I’ve seen my youngest children again! Last time I saw you two, I had such a blast! Haha!”

”Your Children? Also what did you mean by last time?” Moon asked in confusion.

After hearing another voice in her head Sun decided to speak up. ”Who the hell are you? And who is this other guy?.”

“Ok, one question at a time please, I may be the goddess of the universe, but even I have limits.” She gave off a chuckle.

“Anyway, yes, MY children. I go by Nevula, but you can call me mom or mother. You were born after your older siblings, Order and Chaos, known as Lucia and Zaxous, created by yours truly, in order to, well control this section of the universe. At first it was just Lucia, then quickly realized everything was just too perfect and, well, boring. I then made Zaxous to add randomness to the mix and some chaos for some balance and BOOM planets started taking shape. Well some planets disappeared into the abyss, only one stayed in the area where Lucia and Zaxous manifested. They created the divine realm and made their home. I then created Sun to form heat and light for the planet Lucia calls Goldara and Moon to provide cooling to balance the heat as well as darkness to keep the light from blinding the inhabitants. Soon major gods of the elements started to manifest.”

Moon, still in shock and trying to comprehend this sudden knowledge and the appearance of his so called mother wanted to ask about what she meant by ‘last time’ again since she ignored his question either on purpose or just forgot when Sun’s voice interfered with his thoughts.

”Yeah, ok mom. Still didn’t answer my question. why are you in my head and who’s the other guy?”

The goddess of the universe who goes by the name Nevula, can’t help but be amused by her children who were much different than Lucia and Zaxous. Nevula, being the goddess of the universe has some draw backs to her power. Although she can travel to other universes, she can never seem to remember which ones she would call home. Always traveling and meeting different gods and beings and just hoping she’ll find this one again.

“My so impatient, I was getting to that. Anyway, I’m not in your mind, rather you’re both in mine! For the second question, the other one is your brother, Moon. You were both born the same exact time so that makes you twins! Yay! I’d say I’m rather proud of myself. Never made twins before. You know how hard it is to make two celestial bodies at the same time! Of course not! It hurts like hell. Let’s change the scenery a bit though shall we? I want to see you two.”

Before the two could respond a bright white light blinded the both of them. A few seconds later the light dissipated from their eyes and found themselves standing in a beautiful place, filled with pink clouds and bright stars overhead that lit up the abyss. They then saw each other for the first time, not just some floating ball on the other side of the planet, but humanoid shapes, floating over nothing. Moon was male and has mid-short sliver hair covering his pointed-end ears that protruded outwards. The blueish hue glow coming off his sliver hair is like seeing the moonlight itself. His eyes were some what covered by his hair while the eyes themselves made him look like he was constantly tired. Within the eyes however, a purple with silver pupils that seem to change shape in what looks like a half moon, a crescent moon, to purple eyes with no pupils, then back to a full moon. Giving him different shapes of the moon depending on how the planet currently views Moon. After a few rotations of his pupils it decided to stay at a full moon. He appears to be around 12 years old for human standards and is completely naked with no genitalia and a pale skin tone body, people would think he never goes outside much. In all he gives off a handsome, mysterious, edgy look.

Sun has golden blond hair with red highlights, her hair reaching down to her shoulders blades making it look her hair was made out of fire. She also had point-ended ears that protruded outwards, but Unlike moons, her eyes look full of energy and doesn’t have any pupils, but the yellow and red eyes give off a memorizing visual as they seem to constantly move as if her eyes themselves are on fire. She also appears to be around 12 years old and also completely naked with a tan skin tone looking like she’s in the sun quite often. She also has nothing between the thighs besides a smooth surface, her small breasts however, are covered by some weird red fabric. The majority, if not everyone, would find her incredibly beautiful and radiant.

The taller female, Nevula, standing before them has dark purplish pink hair that gives off white sparkles which looks like stars. Her hair constantly flowing like a light breeze is always present. Her eyes are like looking into the night sky, thousands of stars shining brilliantly within them. Unlike the twins, she is not nude, she’s wearing a long dark pink dress that goes down to her ankles where dark purple shoes seem to be covering her feet. Her skin is purple making the twins wonder if they’re even really related.

“Ah much better, oh my! What beautiful children I have! It’s time to finally give you your names agai- ahem.” Nevula, looking at the twins making sure they didn’t notice the hiccup. Moon seems to be looking around full of wonder and awe while Sun is enjoying her new body, moving her arms around and jumping, familiarizing herself. Nevula then snaps her fingers which echos through her mind space to grab their attention causing Moon to jump and immediately stare at Nevula. Sun suddenly stops then glares at Nevula, looking somewhat pissed by the sudden, unnecessary noise ruining her fun.

“Ok pay attention you two, especially you hot head.” Nevula points at Sun.

Sun rolls her eyes ”I say we come up with our OWN names.”

“Oh? What name would that be?” Nevula asked curiously. She already had their names, but couldn’t help but humor her children.

”I’ll be known as Fir-“

”no.”

sun stomps her foot and pouts. “You don’t even know what I was gonna say!”

”You were going to say fire…”

”No I wasn’t!”

Nevula raises an eyebrow. “Oh lying already are we?”

Moon looks back and forth at the two arguing about the name Sun suggested, but doesn’t see the issue. Moon thought Fire was a pretty cool name.

“Um, I thought Fire fit her perfectly. I mean she basically looks like fire, just look at her hair.”

”SEE! Even cold shoulder over there agrees with me!” Sun turns over to Moon. “What name did you come up with?” Sun couldn’t help feel excited and curious to see what name her brother came up with. He seems a bit more quiet than she is. Maybe he was just thinking too hard about it. Curious, Nevula remains silent and waits for Moon to answer, but doesn’t take long.

”I like the name Moon!” Moon says in full confidence and his hands on his hips with a smile.

Sun was confused by this. Wasn’t his name already Moon or was that just temporary? Damn, now she wished she would have said Sun rather than Fire. Maybe it’s not too late to change it. Sun broke out of her thoughts.

”actually, I change my mind, I want my nam-“

*SMACK*

Sun and Moon look towards their mother with the sudden noise and see Nevula’s hand over her face.

”hhhh.” Sighed Nevula. “Ok, I’m thankful I get the final say in this since I’m the mother. That’s how it works!”

”Says who!” Demanded Sun.

”Says me you hot head!”

”Don’t call me HOT HEAD, my head isn’t even HOT!”

Nevula ignored her pouting and continued. “Once you have your names you’ll be able to see your status, which will provide you with information on your titles, race, skills, and abilities. Titles can be earned from certain feats or special bloodlines, some titles also give unique skills and abilities. skills are earned through learning and self discovery although it’s not unheard of being born with one. Abilities are determined by your race, growth, and affinities.” Nevula paused for a moment to make sure they were paying attention when she caught Sun trying to catch a star floating by her.

If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

“ARIA!”

”What!”

”What in Goldara are you doing girl!”

”I got bored, and I really wanted to touch that star!” Sun continued to follow the stars movements as she spoke.

Nevula decided to just ignore her for the time being.

“Now, Moon, your name is Astros! Sun, I give you the name Aria! Such cute names, with A’s to match! You’ll be the perfect A team!…A twins? Whatever, It’s perfect!”

Astros and Aria suddenly feel a quick burst of mana enter their body with an image of strange words popping into their head soon after.

Name: Astros

Race: Celestial

Titles: Major God, Moon God, Twin of the Sun Goddess

Skills: illusion (Rank F)

Abilities: Greater Arcane Sight, Dark Magic, Water Magic

Name: Aria

Race: Celestial

Titles: Major Goddess, Sun Goddess, Twin of the Moon God

Skills: Healing (Rank F)

Abilities: Greater Arcane Sight, Light Magic, Fire Magic

Both seem to stare off in the distance without blinking. Nevula knows they’re looking over their statuses, considering staring off without blinking is a good sign someone is looking at a status within their minds. Which seems like a good time to start explaining.

“As you can see, your names, race, titles, skills, and abilities are all listed there. Others can see your status with the appraisal skill, though they’ll only be able to see your name, race, and titles. You also have affinities with certain elements that you’ll figure out later. If you want the exact percentage of your elements affinity then you’ll have to visi-oop almost gave away too much. Don’t want to spoil you!” Nevula gave off a laugh. “Anyway, I won’t tell you how high or low your affinity is cause finding out on your own is part of the fun!”

Aria continues to look over her status in awe as she tones out her mother. Something finally interesting happens and was hard to look away. Curiosity got the better of her and decided to look at Astros who seems to be staring at nothing and stopped blinking. Aria wondered if some how getting a name broke him, she started walking towards him with the full intention of slapping him back to reality when he suddenly spoke.

”What does it mean to have a high or low affinity?”

“Oh? What an excellent question Astros!”

Aria sighs and wished she was a little faster. She really just wanted to slap him, asking all these stupid questions. She was getting bored again when a sudden familiar star approached her again.

“An affinity determines how much control you have over the element. With a high affinity, you have full control over the element, you’ll even get special perks depending on how high your percentage is. A low affinity makes it harder to control an element, which affects accuracy and power. You can also have a negative affinity which will affect you more harshly, causing you more harm than normal as well as draining your mana when surrounded by that element. It really depends on your bloodline and race.” Nevula takes a moment to pause. Ready to continue her explanation, she notices a certain someone trying to catch the star again.

”ARIA!”

”Ack!”

”What in Goldara are you doing girl!”

”I was about to catch the star until you startled me!” Aria pouted.

”Ignore the damn star! It’s not even a real star, just light floating within my mind space, now pay attention.” Nevula looked at Aria to make sure she had her full attention.

“Anyway, you can also raise your affinity by surrounding yourself with the element and meditate, but it’s a long process and requires patience and understanding. Mortals try to raise their negative affinities this way, however most are unsuccessful and end up dying.”

Aria zones out again, not really caring about these aff-tities or whatever she called them. Ugh this is so booorringg, only one who cares is my stupid brother. Damn! I was so close to that star too. Mother is completely bonkers anyway, always laughing at her own words. Aria looks at Astros seeing him giving a nod every few moments. She probably brain washed him, the poor sap. Maybe I should slap him once she’s gone.

Astros listens carefully while Aria seems to just be staring either at her feet or taking short glances at Astros.

“ARIA!” The sound of Nevula’s voice booms across the mind space.

“I didn’t do anything! Also I’m right HERE!”

“Are you even listening? I’m giving out important info over here!”

”Uhh, yyyesss…well until you RUDELY yelled at me for no reason!”

”Oh really? Then what was I saying?

Aria got her this time. She remembered bits and pieces of what she was saying so she knew she could get away with it.

”You were talking about how negative elementals were and how they end up killing mortals. Poor guys, I was just thinking how bad elementals were until I was yelled at.” Aria was trying to hide her grin. Although she didn’t really care about the mortals, she just wanted mother to feel guilty for yelling at her. Seeing her pissed off face was icing on the cake. She knew she had her.

“First of all, I never mentioned elementals killing mortals, and secondly that was 5 MINUTES AGO!”

”WELL I got BORED. Besides, what are we doing here anyway, and what’s the point to all this? We can’t even go to the Mortal Realm where the planet is. All we can do is watch from above.” Aria has been thinking that all this information was useless if they can’t do anything but float around. She assumes she’ll just lose her human body once mother leaves.

Astros was, again, caught up in another heated argument between mother and his sister. The heated one was mostly Aria, literally, giving off a few embers when she yelled. Astros doesn’t really know what to do in this situation besides let the situation resolve itself which it mostly does.

“You’re here so I can give you a better understanding on how the Mortal Realm works since I’ll be sending you two there shortly. You may have been born with basic knowledge and understanding, but knowing how the world of Goldara works is extremely important for survival. Even though you’re gods and immortal you can still lose your humaniod bodies and be sent back to your celestial bodies. The only way for you to truly die is if someone happens to blow up your celestial bodies and the only one capable of that is me. You’ll still become dormant once you return and won’t have access to your humanoid body until I return and Goldara knows how long that’ll be. While divine beings are manifestations of elements with an abundance of mana and can manifest over time like all the other major gods, celestials, like yourselves, are literally part of the universe and can only manifest with my help.

”Can’t you just stay here then?” Asked Astros.

”Oh believe me, I wish I could. Just to see Lucia and Zaxous faces when they find out their favorite twins are back. Sadly I bring imbalance to universes that I stay in for too long. Causing the space itself to collapse and reset.”

Astros notices the odd way that Nevula will sometimes use words like ‘back’ or ‘again’ like they manifested before, but this is the first time he was aware of. Goldara didn’t even seem habitable when it first woke up.

”What do you mean when you said ‘their favorite twins are back’? And whats with the sarcasm with the ‘favorite part?”

Sometimes Nevula underestimates Astros perception on things. Other than Aria, who is currently back to trying to touch the star, Astros has been cool, calm, and collected, listening and absorbing all her words.

“Oh, nothing, nothing.” She gave a nervous smile. “I got things mixed up with another set of twins in a different universe is all, my mistake.”

Astros thought for a moment over her words and decided that it would make sense. Out of all the universes she’s been too, it’s probably very easy to get them mixed up. Now that he thought about it, he hoped the information she was giving him was actually valid.

Nevula takes another look at her newly manifested twins. She notices Aria being, well, Aria, which she was actually relieved this time since only Astros is the one questioning her.

”Normally you’ll be sent to the divine realm since Lucia and Zaxous have formed a council with the other major gods, but that wouldn’t be very exciting.” Nevula gave a little chuckle before continuing.

Right now, you’re still in your celestial bodies in the Celestial Realm. I just dragged your consciousness into my mind space cause it’s easier to tal-….ARIA!”

Aria stops, again, trying to catch the star that was floating around her and turned to look at her mother who looks she’s about to beat her ass.

”how many times do I have to tell you that the star isn’t real! You can’t even actually touch it. Look!” Nevula controls her mind space and brings a star towards Aria who happily reaches out only to have her hand go through the star before fading away. After feeling a little guilty seeing her disappointed daughter she decided to just move on.

”Aria just please make sure you protect your brother, same for you Astros, especially you, make sure you watch over your that hot head.”

Aria was about to protest, but Nevula just kept talking.

“If one of you loses your body, well let’s just say it won’t be beneficial for anybody haha. You both need each other, so work and stick together!” Nevula gave a sigh. “I wish I could see the look on Lucia and Zaxous faces when they find out, but sadly it’s about time I head off.”

The twins both give a simultaneous nod. Astros had plenty of questions he still wanted to ask, though he felt like it would be best to leave it be before Aria explodes for standing still too long. Aria was overly excited about going to the Mortal Realm on the planet Goldara that she just couldn’t sit still. She always wondered what it was like on that planet and kept thinking about it ever since her mother mentioned it. She’s been ready to go for awhile now. Having her brother there felt like a bit of a buzzkill thinking he’ll just slow her down, but perhaps he could be useful.

After getting both their confirmation of understanding, Nevula began to close her mind space and send them to the planet below.

”Goodbye my beautiful children! I hope to see you both again in the future!”

Astros and Aria heard their mothers voice start fading away in the bright light that has surrounded them. This light however was different from when they were transported to the mind space, instead of blinding them it just surrounded them in a rainbow light in a perfect circle. A moment later they felt a sharp pulling on their bodies and found themselves in what feels like falling. Looking down they couldn’t see anything but the bright rainbow light. Aria didn’t like this feeling, like at all. She quickly grabbed Astros’s hand in the hopes that maybe he will break her fall. Astros felt Aria grabbed his hand, he looked over to see her eyes closed and hair frantically flapping in the wind, looking like her hair was set ablaze. Soon the rainbow light started to fade.

When the rainbow light started closing in and disappear, they saw a grassy plain beneath their feet with forests to the north and what looks like mountains to the south. The east and west were more plains, except smoke could be seen in the east. Looking at each other while the sun hanging high, they noticed they were wearing clothes now. Aria was wearing a white shirt with red shorts and some worn brown shoes. Astros had a black shirt with silver shorts and worn black shoes. They then both looked up. Aria saw her celestial body she left behind, having the feeling like she’s missing a piece of her. Astros was doing the same, but couldn’t seem to find his celestial body. He scanned the sky for a few moments before giving up. Astros may not see his actual body, but he can feel it, hanging above somewhere like it’s still apart of his body that he left.

After watching her children disappear from her mind space, she couldn’t help but feel like she forgotten something. After a few minutes of thinking she came to the conclusion that it must not have been important and formed a portal that ripped reality itself and jumped in. Few minutes after jumping into the ripped reality portal, Nevula gave a hefty sigh.

”Shit….I forgot to mention something extremely important to the twins…hehehahaa. Oh well, they’ll figure it out. Why the hell is it that every time I forget something, I remember when it’s too late.” Nevula continues to mumble to herself as she travels through space and time itself.
