Volume 2-Chapter 2: Dungeon
----------------------------------------
“Oh man this is great!” Jakob said, his mouth filled with chicken.
Everyone was enjoying a delicious high-class dinner similar to the one they first had in this world. All of them were laughing, cheering, and having a great time together. Even the classmates who normally would have hidden themselves away in their rooms were now participating with everyone.
Elden’s appetite however was completely gone as he continued to look at the food on his table. The options had been laid out on the table. He was pissed at the king, but even if he killed the king; it that would only end up mean makingputting an entire kingdom as his enemy. Contacting other nations would be no different as they’d likely be given the same conditions.
The king had basically told him playtime was over. The next step would be a dungeon or attacking the king’s enemies. Elden wasn't about to kill humans and he doubted his classmates would be able to stomach it. If the group of heroes decided on not doing either of these 2 options than they’d lose the king's support. Worst case scenario the king would kill or enslave them. The best case they’d be alone in this world without any money or belongings.
First of all why he had to make the decision was beyond him but the thought of revealing the king’s plans to a bunch of immature teenagers didn’t sit well with him. Everything depended on his choice. All he had was his swordsmanship which he decided to use to protect his classmates. If his father knew he’d frown and beat Elden within an inch of his life.
One of the rules of his father’s swordsmanship was to never use it to help people. Then what was the point of learning it? Like any other boy his age Elden had once dreamed of being a hero. That dream was crushed by his furious father. Elden rubbed the old wounds he had received on that day. Now however the thought of being a hero elated Elden. It seemed that only one option existed. Now all that was left was to convince his classmates.
He sighed
Fortune favors the brave, or was it the foolish?
Suddenly standing up Eldenhe garnered the attention of his classmates. He cleared his throat to wash away the slight embarrassment he felt. Public speaking was not in his resume’ after all.
“Ahem, um first of all I'd like to apologize, Because of me hiding my skills some of our classmates are no longer here.”
The mood turned sour as Elden noticed two stares from the corner of the table. Keaton and Kaleb who had both lost important people stared at him. Elden ignored their stares. He had long ago accepted the fact that those classmates could have lived had he revealed his cards earlier.
“But I want you to trust me me. We can only trust each other here. I will protect all of you with my abilities so….,” He stopped. It was difficult but he had to tell them they were heading to a dungeon. He had to convince them that this was the most appropriate action.
He sighed “”Since we can only depend on our own power. We must increase our strength and in order to do that; We need to start conquering a dungeon.”
◇
Hořká tmavá;The only dungeon regulated by the adventurer's guild. An underground labyrinth whose mysteries only reveal more secrets. Located approximately 2 days away by horse and situated in the center of the city of Zalarmesto. It was the largest source of income to the city who was only second to the kingdom's capital. Armor, weapons, clothes, potions etc. All an adventurer needed could be bought in this city.
The assemblage of the heroes and their accompanying knights stood at the dungeon's entrance. It was a large gate that simply led down. Originally this gate was the only way into the dungeon however the entranceway had been dug out and expanded, making it possible for large amounts of people to enter. The entrance was surrounded by a bazaar that sold an assorted amount of items useful for adventurer's. Most items were cheaper as they tended to be second-hand goods obtained from the corpses and item drops from the dungeon.
They—The summoned Heroes— however had no reason to browse as everything had already been provided for them. They were the center of attention as each of them was equipped with custom made armor and weapons. Just one of them would have stood out as they were equipped like a rank 6: Diamond adventurer. A group of 30 teenagers wearing something befitting of a rank 6 adventurer; was truly a spectacle.
Elden had managed to convince all his classmates to participate. This way he would be able to watch and safeguard them. Still he was scared of the dungeon. Something might happen that even his skills couldn't handle.
“Alright then, Let's go!” cheered Paul from the front. He started walking through the dungeon door. Elden stood at the back, watching the rear. Using his incredible speed he could be at front in an instant.
The Knight's took a formation protecting their rear and flanks while setting the torches on. Elden held a small book he had acquired. It was a book that held information on each floor of this dungeon. The deepest level reached was level 56. For now their objective was reaching that deep and by that time they should be proficient enough in combat to take care of themselves.
“Hey, what you reading?” Ganesh started walking at Elden's pace along with Michael.
“Well I'm trying to read this but it's in this world's language.” said Elden as he closed the book. They had automatically understood the words of this world but the writing and reading was something they were incapable of.

“Can I take a look?” asked Ganesh
Elden raised an eyebrow questioning his friend.
“Me and Michael were in the library while you all trained,” explained Ganesh “So I can more or less read the language.”
Elden was stupefied. “Hey isn't that at the level of a genius to read this world's language in less than a month!?”
Ganesh opened up the small manual. “ Hmm? Not really. I mean a lot of us got unique skills. Mine being understanding which is at level 7.”
Elden was deep in thought when they heard a girl's scream from the front. This was still level 1 of the dungeon. Elden wasn't expecting something big. However that one scream caused mass panic as most of the classmates started stampeding making it difficult for Elden to reach the front. He used another technique from his father's book to instantly weave through his classmates.
When he arrived several girls were in a panic while one of them was lying on the floor. In front of them a single rat the size of a dog. The front-line that was led by Paul and the strongest boys was nowhere to be seen. Taking his sword out thundercrack he easily killed the rat. The girls ran up to him petrified and held him like children would hold their fathers when frightened.
“Where's Paul and the rest?” asked Eden
One of the girls managed to control her fear and responded” They said we were to slow and walked ahead.”
Damn it we have to stay in formation.
The formation was simple. The strongest boys would be in the front while the magic casting girls would be in the middle, where they would be safe to cast their chants. The immediate rear was held up by the weaker boys who were there to keep the rear safe besides the knights.
By staying together as a group Elden would be able to move to where he was most needed.
“Alright then girls, can you guys go to the back with the rest?. I'll go find Paul and the rest.”
He didn't give them a moment to respond as he disappeared in a blur. It got easier and easier for him to adjust his techniques to this world.
“Hey Elden.” someone called out to him. It was three of the boys. John, Zachary and Jakob.
“Weren't you guys at the front?” asked Elden
“Yyeah but Paul convinced everyone else to go forward and ditch everyone else.” said Zachary
“Well we did try convincing them not to but in the end it was just us 3.” said Jakob.
“Then you guys escort those girls to the back of the formation and stay there as a defensive line, I'll go find those idiots.” ordered Elden as he ran forward. The three boys nodded and followed the group of frightened girls.
∆
He slowed down as he saw a trail of slime and rat corpses. It didn't take long to catch up to the boys. They were having fun as they took down rats and slimes. He appeared in front of them arms crossed.
“Oy! Idiots.”
Elden's should long hair was moved by his own wind and revealed his eyes filled with anger.
“You’re lucky this is only the first floor otherwise most of the girls would have died since our frontline moved on without the rest.”
Most of the boys looked away ashamed however Paul went forward.
“Huh? So? Even if we're not there, you are. Why can't you protect them? We need the XP more than you.”
“Idiot, even with my higher level, I won’t be able to protect two groups at once.” countered Elden.
“So then don’t protect us and get out of our way.” Paul’s hand approached the swords pommel.
Elden laughed lightly “You wanna fight? just keep in mind I’m not holding back this time.” Hhe drew thundercrack and entered his stance.
Together with the XP from killing goblins & Hnev; Elden’s level was now at 30, while Paul’s was still level 4. Even if Elden didn’t use his techniques this contest of strength was over before it began.
∆
John, Riley and Jakob had gone ahead of the remaining classmates in order to scout and look for Elden and the other boys.
The Dungeon was poorly lit and many times they jumped from fright after encountering other rookie adventurers. Level 1 of the dungeon and their formation had already been broken up. Although it was harder to organize a larger group, they were heroes right? They had to be above average.
Riley led the way. Although she was a girl she would best be described as a violent tomboy. John and Jakob followed behind.
It didn't take long for them to find rookie adventurers gathering around another group of people. The trio looked at each other and nodded. They moved to investigate while pushing the crowd out of the way.
"You wanna fight? just keep in mind I’m not holding back this time.”
They then watched as Elden and Paul both entered a basic sword stance . The chatter coming from the rookie adventurers instantly died down. And as if their silence was the round bell, Elden's form had disappeared and reappeared right in front of Paul driving the pommel of his sword into Paul's gut, making him double over . Paul's forehead then made hard contact with Elden' knee knocking him out.
Δ
Two of the boys carried Paul’s unconscious body and together everyone united with the rest of the classmates. Paul was slowly waking up while Elden and a small group of students seemed to be discussing something.
“We split up the class into groups and explore the dungeon separately.” said Ganesh. That was the solution he had come up with. It seemed impossible for the class to stay efficient in such a large group.
Elden shook his head
John stepped forward. "Look we balance out the teams ya’know. Put some strong people with weaker people."
“No. I can’t protect anyone like that.” argued Elden
“Hey man we aren’t kids!” said Jakob
“Right you’re not kids. It’s why we're here but I’m not losing anyone,” Elden walked away from the discussion “Not again.”
