Everyone who was present in the auditorium fixed their gaze toward the portal as they felt a bone-chilling ominous aura coming from the portal.

[What is that?.....] Jivika said while pointing towards the portal. Everyone felt chill down their spines as they saw two blood-red eyes visible from the portal.

[Fuck…. it's the Boss monster….….] Anurag who was one of the S rank slayers said. As everyone saw towards the portal a giant 10-12 feet tall wolf came out of the portal. It had a snow-white mane around its neck. Compared to other wolves it had two horns on its head. Its claws looked so sharp that they could easily destroy even S-rank shield artifacts. It looked very strong enough to smash a whole building with a single attack

[Damn it!...that thing is fucking irregular Boss Monster….] Navya said while looking at the silhouette coming out of that portal.

[Can we even defeat something like that?.] The presence of an irregular boss monster destroyed the little bit of hope that was remaining in the slayers.

[Luckily most of the people from the auditorium are already evacuated…so we don't have to fight the defensive battle anymore…] Erica said…who was one of the instructors said after glancing behind.

[Alright Listen up everyone..Erica, Kunal and I will focus on the irregular boss monster…everyone else who can fight will focus on the rest of the regular wolves….Do not let a single one of them outside of this auditorium. I understand that you guys must be exhausted after fighting so many monsters and I applaud you guys for that……but this fight is not over yet….if we don’t stop this monster here till more help comes, then a lot of people will die and we can’t let that happen as we are one of the best Slayer Academies in the world. [yeah….we will distract it so you guys should get out of here…..] Navya one of the instructors said.

[No mam…We can fight..we can’t leave by ourselves.] Arush who was a little bit experienced in slaying gathered his courage and said. After hearing Arush every student who was present there resolved themselves.

[Let’s get out of here…This is our chance..] Ansh said after hearing Anurag.

[....I can’t go outside…] Mrigya said after thinking for some time.

[Why?...both of you had already exhausted all of your powers so you are nothing more than normal humans now.] Ansh said.

[I can’t leave my mom behind….even if it’s not much I can still help reduce the number of normal wolves] Mrigya said. She looked determined.

[I’ll also not go] Jivika said after looking at Mrigya’s determined face.

[Stop bullshitting…you won’t…] Before Ansh could finish his sentence they heard another loud howl.

Giant wolf when looking at its deadbodies of its kin lying on the floer, let out another loud howl. It was furious. Upon hearing that howl…everyone was struck with fear…Except few high-ranking experienced slayers, almost everyone there froze to their place.

[argh…fuck ….I can’t move….it seems that howl had a fear effect..] Arush shouted.

[That’s why you guys can’t fight that monster…so just get out...we can't fight it while protecting you guys..] Navya said to the students.

On the other side, all the remaining wolves gathered behind the Alpha. The Alpha suddenly jumped towards the slayers…

[It’s coming….brace yourselves….all the instructors protect the students behind you.] Anurag shouted as it saw the alpha coming towards them. All the wolves behind it also started running towards the slayers.

[Use shield magic with as many layers as you can!!] Anurag asked Navya. She deployed 5 layered shields around in the alpha direction.

{boom}..The alpha rammed into the shield head-on, breaking almost every layer of the shield.

[Impossible! My highest defense spell got broken just like that..] Navya was shocked to see her most powerful shield was broken like it was just a glass.

[Get a hold of yourself…it was expected that your magic wouldn't last much longer because that's an irregular boss monster ... .I told you to use your shield just to stop his momentum ... .Erica let’s go!] Anurag, yelled and leaped towards the monster.

[let’s go…]Erica also nodded and leaped towards the monster. Anurag and Erica were physical-class slayers. Erica was an A-rank slayer and used a really large long sword while Anurag used a big dual-sided axe.

[Let's go for its legs first and stop it from moving..] Erica told Anurag. He nodded and attacked its front legs.

{....} The irregular Alpha howled painfully.

[Did we get it??...] [Is it dead?] Nobody was able to see what was happening as the area around Alpha was covered in floating dust and Smoke created due to the explosions. As everyone was looking at the Alpha. The auditorium was completely silent for a moment.

[No!...everyone dodge…] Erica who was closest to the Alpha suddenly shouted as she saw lightning sparkling in that smog. She knew that the Alpha was preparing for an attack.

[Everyone get down!!!...] Navya and Arush collectively activated a barrier to protect themselves.

[Don't worry!...I am here aren't I …I will not let anything happen to you!] Mrigya said. Although she said that to comfort Bhagya, She knew somewhere that their chances of getting out alive were almost impossible. Every Slayer fighting there was left with none or very little mana. The remaining wolves also didn’t give any chance to those who were trying to escape earlier and started attacking them.

[I don't think my shield can withstand one more attack like that!..] Navya who was on the verge of collapsing said.

The Alpha was glaring at them. He was completely fine after taking the most powerful attacks from the slayers present there. The only thing that those attacks did was to make it more angry. It growled and pounced towards the shield.

[Mam put up a barrier once again, if I reinforce it with my mana maybe we can withstand one more attack] Arush asked Navya. She immediately gathered all of her remaining power and created a barrier. Arush also created a shield which then merged with Navya’s shield increasing its thickness.

[Everyone, if the barrier fails….be prepared to dodge and jump as far away as possible.] Arush said and reinforced the barrier with his mana.

[It’s coming…]

The alpha started attacking the barrier with its claws. The razor-sharp claws easily tore the barrier in 3-4 attacks.

[Jump..] Anurag grabbed Navya who depleted all her powers and jumped away. Similarly, Erica also grabbed Arush and jumped away. Everyone else also followed them and tried to dodge the Alpha's attacks. As if it knew that they were trying to evade..after tearing the shield it immediately summoned another lighting aiming towards the slayers.

Luckily everyone successfully evaded the lightning strike as they jumped away. But as they were in the air the aftershock from the explosion threw everyone away.

All of them were gasping.

[Holy shit, uhhh, that was close. I thought we were done today.] Arush was shocked to see how powerful the alpha was. This attack broke the frontline and scattered everyone around exposing the new slayers who were fighting behind.

The alpha without letting them recover created lightning spears aiming in everyone's direction. It started attacking with lightning indiscriminately at everyone.

[Fuck!!....Just how powerful is that damn beast…….] Ansh said while he held Jivika who was recovering her strength.

[It’s attacking all over the place…..] Mrigya who was still fighting with regular wolves said.

[Fuck it’s coming for us!....] Ansh saw one of the lightning strikes coming towards them. Mrigya and Ansh held Bhagya and Jivika respectively and jumped in different directions from each other. Ansh somehow managed to evade that attack with Jivika.

{That was close!!...we almost died.} Ansh thought to himself. He knew that it would be hard for him to jump again while holding Jivika. No matter how trained he was, he was still a human.

[Just leave me here and go outside while you can!..] Jivika who knew she was being a burden said to Ansh. This incident was an eye-opener for her. She heard words like one-of-a-kind genius, the genius of the century with the potential to become king class slayer, etc. all her life which got to head as she became arrogant. This incident showed her how powerless she was in the face of real danger and the one whom she looked down on her whole life for being weak was saving her.

[Well I would love to do that but no matter how you are….you are still my little sister so I can’t leave you behind.] Ansh replied. No matter how she treated Ansh, he never hated her. He always thought that she was just an immature kid.

[....] Jivika looked at her brother’s face but couldn’t say anything.

The instructors were able to recover themselves and started to attack the Alpha once again. The Alpha was looking around at everyone. It felt like it was trying to find someone as its prey. Its gaze was suddenly fixated on Ansh and Jivika. After carefully looking at her it growled loudly specifying its discovered target. It gathered lightning in its horns. Anybody could see that it was preparing for a very powerful attack.

[Fuck!! It's coming for us….but why?..What should I do?....I don't think I can dodge anymore if one of the lightning strikes comes towards me while helping her..…] Ansh was terrified.

[It’s targeting those kids ...Erica let’s pull its attention towards us....we can't let these kids die…] Anurag yelled. As they still couldn’t let their students die, leaped towards the Alpha. Both of them were aiming for its neck. They thought that even if it didn’t do much damage, it would at least divert the wolf's attention.

{slice..} Anurag’s axe was able to successfully pierce its neck but it wasn’t deep enough. The same thing happened with Erica. She also successfully landed an attack but it wasn’t life threatening. The Alpha rather than avoiding decided to ignore them and sent all the energy it gathered in its horns in the form of a lightning strike toward Ansh and Jivika.

{Fuck!!..is this how I am going to die?} Ansh knew that he wouldn’t be able to dodge the attack so in a desperate attempt to save his sister, he pushed Jivika away as far as possible and took the attack head-on.

As the attack reached Ansh the pendant which was given to Ansh by his mother once again activated forming a shield around him.

{boom} That lightning strike proved to be more powerful than the shield as it broke the shield and dissipated. That shockwave threw Ansh away and he fainted.

[No!!...Ansh…] Jivika was devastated her heart sank as she saw her brother getting thrown away by that attack. She thought that she had lost her brother. She got up and somehow ran toward Ansh.

{no…no…no….because of me..No…only if I was powerful enough} Tears fell down from her eyes as she kept blaming herself. She also regretted the way she treated Ansh till now.

[please …don’t be dead..please..] As she reached Ansh she lowered herself to check if Ansh was breathing.

[he is alive!....Thank god!...] Jivika’s paled face became lively once again She started crying out of relief. The wolf wasn’t satisfied with just one attack as it once again started to prepare for another attack.

[It’s going to attack once again….everyone re-group in front of them] Erica who saw that yelled and dashed towards them. Anurag, Navya, and Kunal also ran towards them. They couldn’t understand why that wolf was targeting these kids.

[Is it only me or it hasn’t yet healed from our attack earlier..] Erica looked at the wolf carefully and pointed toward the injury on the wolf’s neck.

[No it is still there…it’s healing seemed to have slowed…] Navya replied. Her face became a little hopeful as she thought that they had a chance of winning now.

[That means that we can kill it now…everyone we will repeat the earlier plan…Me, Erica, and Kunal will go for close-quarter attacks while others will attack when they see an opening.] Anurag once again took the lead and explained their strategy.

[I will aim for its legs] Erica said while tightly gripping her sword.

[then I’ll go for its head…] Anurag said and they both dashed towards the wolf. The wolf also knew that its healing had slowed down so it didn't take them lightly and decided to retaliate. As it saw both of them coming closer it it also raised its claws and attacked Anurag.

Anurag saw its claws coming towards him he immediately blocked it with his axe. As he was being pushed back Erica took this chance and attacked its left hind leg. She successfully injured its hind leg which slowed it down. The wolf squealed in pain.

[Now!!...] Navya yelled and started attacking the wolf with her long rage attacks. Other Mage-type slayers also followed and attacked the wolf with a continuous barrage.

{boom}{boom}....The explosions were heard one after another.

[it’s working!..] Erica who was standing close to the wolf saw it getting injured due to those attacks. After some time the attacks stopped and everyone’s gaze was fixed towards the wolf.

{Howl..} After some silence that wolf let out a painful howl. As the dust cleared, everyone saw the injured wolf. They thought that it would go down soon but to their surprise, it started to change. Its claws and fangs grew longer. Its snow-white mane changed color and became dark red. Instead of looking injured and weak, it looked even more ferocious than earlier.

[It’s going into berserk mode….keep attacking it…don’t let it change..] Anurag yelled loudly toward mage-type slayers. The berserk mode was sort of a last resort for boss monsters. Not every boss monster could go in berserk mode as it was not so common. It increased the attack powers of monsters up to 30-40 % while making them unable to feel any pain for a short amount of time.

[....This is just fucking unbelievable….we somehow manage to injure it after struggling for so long and now it is going berserk…] Erica was pissed.

After hearing Anurag every mage-type slayer once again barraged with a variety of powerful spells.

{Swish} As its speed increased the alpha easily evaded all the attacks.

It attacked Erica who was closed with its claws. Erica blocked the attack with her sword but was flown away due to the force behind that attack. It then suddenly changed its direction and ran towards the mage-type slayers who were protecting Jivika and Ansh.

[Everyone Shields..] Navya who was at the front of these slayers instructed everyone to put up shields and barriers.

{boom} The wolf once again rammed into the barrier and blew away everyone. It didn’t seem to be in its right mind as it was even attacking some of its own kind who were getting in its way.

[Why aren’t reinforcements coming?.... Other instructors who are in the academy should have reached here by now… ] Erica was frustrated.

[That's what I don’t understand…] Anurag was also confused. 40-45 minutes were already passed since the portal opened. Other instructors and slayers in the academy should’ve reached there within 15 minutes at max.

The Alpha once again started bombarding everything and every one with its lightning strikes. As Jivika and Ansh were exposed in front of it, one of the attacks went towards them.

Jivika saw that attack coming towards them and decided to protect Ansh with her body. She quickly stood up in between Ansh and the wolf.

[I am sorry…] As she spoke her last words to Ansh. She closed her eyes as she saw the lightning coming towards her. She accepted her death with tears falling from her eyes.

{boom}...Another loud explosion occurred.
