Soon Ansh's name was also called.

[Hey look, it's that bastard’s turn this time….. I bet he is going to fail this year too…what say you guys?]...[Of course, he is going to fail……I don't even know why he is even bothering to give this test..]...[Yeah…but it's good for us….we have something to laugh at when he fails ha ha [ yeah maybe that is why the academy has given him a third chance.]..[But look at him, he looks damn confident]..[Really some people just don’t know their place.] Murmuring didn’t stop.

After hearing his name he started going towards the room. He saw Anjali on his way, he smiled at her but she also ignored him. Although it bothered him, he did not react and went straight into the room.

As soon as he entered the room he saw that each of the walls of the room, and even the floor and ceiling was completely white. Even though it was not his first time in this room he was still a little surprised. Every time he entered the room it felt like he was entering another dimension.. He went towards the white table that was kept in the middle of the room. One examiner was sitting on the other side of the table. One colorless orb was kept on the table.

[Please relax and put your right hand on this orb] The examiner said after Ansh sat on the chair near the table.

{calm down….you can do it this year…}Ansh thought to himself and put his hand on the orb. He was nervous as this was his last chance and if he didn’t get awakened this year too he was going to lose everything.

Generally, the orb emits bright light depending on the level. From duskiest for F class to brightest for S class.

But as 2 minutes passed there was no change in the orb. It was still colorless as before.

[You failed!] Examiner said while looking at the orb.

[No! …please wait for some more time….I can’t fail this year….please ..please no] As soon as he heard the word failed he felt like his whole world crumbled before him.

[Candidate please don’t cause a scene here. Orb hasn't changed for 2 minutes..that means that you don't have an affinity of any rank so please leave] Examiner told and sent the result to Arush for announcement.

[Ansh Deshmukh Failed!] As soon as the final result was announced Ansh knew that this was the end and there was no point in arguing with the examiner...

[ha ha …I failed…I failed] Ansh came out murmuring to himself. He was not able to accept that he failed.

{I must be dreaming right? …yes I must be? Somebody just punch me hard so that this nightmare can end.} The shock was unbearable for him. He somehow walked himself out of the auditorium.

{What am I going to do now? What am I going to do now?.......} As he was thinking to himself, somebody grabbed him by his neck and dragged him towards the alley behind the auditorium.

Ansh was surprised a little but couldn’t resist much as he was powerless.

[Ah look who we have here!! Ha ha ] Somebody talked while looking at Ansh. When Ansh looked at him he immediately recognised the person standing in front of him. He was Deepak Iyer. He was one of his old classmates. He was awakened as S rank last year.

When Ansh looked around he saw a lot of familiar faces. They were Deepak’s lackeys. Ansh was bullied throughout his middle school by these people so he knew exactly why he was brought here. He knew what was going to happen to him but he wasn't afraid as this wasn't the first time something like this happened to him.

{ha ha…. I guess this is the only place that a loser like me belongs to} He felt like if he died here it would be better for everyone.

(Whack) One of the lackeys kicked Ansh on his leg. Ansh fell to his knees.

[Hey! What are you doing?? Why would you do that to my friend….Are you ok my friend?] Deepak asked sarcastically. Ansh also understood the sarcasm but he didn't say anything.

[Hey asshole! He is asking you a question!] another one of the lackeys asked while slapping Ansh. Ansh still kept his quiet.

[I guess you didn't miss me at all…I was the only one who was eager to meet you again] Deepak said while he bent down towards Ansh. He grabbed Ansh by his throat and picked him up like he was just a sack of feathers.This was just a tiny portion of his S rank strength. Ansh was still keeping his quiet. He didn't even groan when Deepak started squeezing his throat.

[Oh common this is not fun at all…..you are not enjoying it all] Deepak said as he was disappointed by Ansh’s unresponsiveness. He wanted Ansh to groan and struggle as he always did before this. He punched Ansh in his stomach with his left hand as his right hand was still holding him by his throat.

{blrgh…} Ansh puked a handful of blood. The punch from S class was so powerful that he felt like some of his internal organs were ruptured. But somehow he didn't feel much pain. His body was already numbed.

[Ahh disgusting….] Deepak was disgusted as some of Ansh’s blood got on his clothes and hands. He instinctively threw him away.

{slam} Ansh slammed into the wall and fell down. He still didn't make any noise. He tried to gather a little bit of his energy to sit back up again.

[I guess you really are a normal human…..I punched him so lightly but he still puked this much blood] Deepak said while looking at Ansh with disgusted eyes.

[Ah fuck this is not fun…..he not playing with me at all…] Deepak looked at his lackeys and signaled them to beat Ansh up. All the lackeys there were happy to oblige to their master's wish. They started beating Ansh who just barely sat back up. Even though he was getting beaten up he suddenly started smiling unconsciously. He felt as if he was getting freed from all of his worries, pain, and burden. He felt as if he died here, he won't have to worry about anyone's expectations and he doesn't have to get hurt about anyone looking down on him.

[what the fuck?? This asshole is smiling!..] One of the lackeys saw a relieved look on Ansh’s face.

[really….fuck!... With this much beating he should've been crying and groaning in pain] Another one said.

[Hey enough….It’ll be a pain in the ass if he dies…but still, that bastard didn't groan even once…] Deepak ordered his lackeys. He was disappointed that Ansh didn't make the face that he wanted to see.

[Fuck! Let's leave. This bastard ruined my mood] Deepak left with lackeys while being disappointed.

The next day in the morning..

[huh…where am I?] Ansh opened his eyes in an unfamiliar place.

[Oh! Student you are finally awake! ] Ansh heard a female voice. When he looked towards the direction of the voice, he saw a woman in a white doctor’s coat. She had a graceful face that looked like she was in her late 30s or early 40s.

[urgh..] Ansh tried to get up but felt sudden pain throughout his body.

[Don’t try to get up yet….you are not healed completely yet] The woman in the coat said while coming towards his bed. She started checking Ansh’s condition.

Ansh looked around trying to grasp what was happening.

{This looks like a medical room…what happened?} Ansh thought to himself while the lady was checking his wounds.

[ohh you have already healed most of your wounds…..you looked like you wouldn't survive the night when I saw your tattered body yesterday.] The lady in the coat looked surprised.

[You must be one of the freshers here right?...I heard the test was held yesterday…but how did you end up in that situation yesterday….from what I know the test doesn't have any actual combat] The lady in the coat asked. She seemed curious.

{ohh right I remember getting beaten up by those assholes…I guess I didn't die…but how did I end up here}

[I am not a fresher here..I failed yesterday..] Ansh replied to the lady in the coat.

[What??....you must be kidding right….failed? that is impossible] She looked shocked.

Ansh also became flustered after seeing her reaction. He couldn't understand her surprised reaction.

[Why would I lie about something like this?!! Yesterday was really my last chance and I failed.]

Ansh suddenly became annoyed as he remembered about yesterday. He felt like the lady in front of him was teasing him.

[I guess you really were telling the truth…..but how is that possible…your body rejected my mana yesterday when I tried to treat you. No matter how many times I tried, I still couldn't treat you. That's why I stayed overnight to observe you but you have almost completely healed overnight] She somewhat believed Ansh about failing the test yesterday after looking at his annoyed face but that shocked her even more.

[what? I am sorry to say this but I am not in the mood for such absurd jokes right now!] Ansh was annoyed as he felt like she was mocking him.

[Kid!...I am an S-rank Healer Class slayer….do you really think I am joking right now? I don't know how but every time I tried to force my healing mana in your body it just could not enter your body. When I checked yesterday you had three major fractures in your ribs, one in your right leg, and your lungs and liver were severely damaged. But now look at you …you are almost completely healed. [..but I definitely failed yesterday....] Ansh couldn’t speak anything. After hearing her he knew that she wasn’t joking around. But no matter how much he tried he couldn’t think of anything. [Noone….I fell down from the auditorium stairs] Ansh did not tell her about him getting beaten up by some assholes.

[Kid it's ok if you don't want to tell me the truth..but don't make such lame excuses ... it's alright I won't pry into it anymore] She said. She already had some idea about what must have happened to him but he seemed reluctant to tell her so she didn't want to force him

[ …excuse me for asking this but who are you? And where exactly am I?] Ansh asked as he wanted to change the subject.

[Oh right I haven't introduced myself yet. I am Samantha Phillip, an S-rank healer class slayer. I am the medical in charge of this academy. And you are in the academy hospital…] She replied.

[I see….but how did I end up here?] Ansh asked.

[Some girl brought you here yesterday…..] She replied

[Girl? Who was she? Did she say her name?]

Ansh stood up and jumped to see if he was alright.

[Yes I think I am alright now..thank you!] Ansh said.

[But are you not going to the freshers' welcoming event?...I guess it's going to start soon!] She asked.

[Freshers Welcoming event?What is that?] He asked as he never heard about it before.

[yeah it's like a get-together of freshers with some of their instructors. Sometimes parents also come to see the academy where for the next two years their child will be training to become a slayer. Well, it's something like that..] She replied.

[I see…but why would I go there when I am not a fresher of the academy?...I told you already that I failed the test…but still thank you for taking care of me ….I don't think we will be able to meet again so I really want to thank you for saving me yesterday] Ansh sincerely wanted to thank her for taking care of him the whole night.

He bowed a little and started walking towards the door.

[Well you never know kid…I have a feeling that we are going to meet again soon!...take care]

Ansh heard her words and left. He started walking towards the main gate of the academy.

.After walking for some time he saw a familiar face…It was Anjali. She was the person that he wanted to avoid the most cause he knew what she was going to do when they met.

[Hey…what are you doing here?] Ansh asked. He was trying to hide his nervousness by smiling awkwardly.

[We need to talk!] She replied.

[Do we have to do it now? Can’t we do it later….I am really tired..so maybe I’ll call you later] Ansh tried to buy some time.

[It's important..so I need to say this right now…we need to break up] She said it without the slightest of hesitation.

[Why? Because I failed the test?] Even though Ansh knew this was going to happen when he heard those words his heart sank.

[Are you really asking me why right now?! You failed thrice you know….I should’ve broken up with you last year itself….but still, after all the years I spent with you I decided to give you another chance….But I really can't do it anymore] Her voice became colder.

[Please …don't do this to me!.....please..] Ansh was still trying to save this relationship somehow because he felt that if she also abandoned him then he’d be really left alone in this world.

[I already gave you enough chances….I can't see you getting beaten up anymore….it embarrasses me …..You embarrass me ….I don't want to be embarrassed anymore so just leave me alone] After saying she turned around and started going away.

[You saw me yesterday?...You saw when I was getting beaten up!] Ansh was really embarrassed as he never wanted Anjali to find out.

[Yes….and I am so embarrassed of myself that I liked a person like you] After saying this she left without even looking back.

He knew this was going to happen as their relationship went beyond repair. He was really embarrassed.

{Well I guess I have nothing else to lose now….this really is the end of everything}Ansh thought to himself…but maybe because he was already expecting this, he wasn't that hurt..rather he felt like his last remaining burden was freed.

(BOOM!)

[what was that?....explosion….where did that sound come from?] As Ansh was walking aimlessly he was startled by the sudden noise. He found out that the explosion came from the auditorium.
