The Strange Monster
Chapetr 1 - People

Chapetr 1 - People

A cabin door opened and shut echoing a high pitched squeaking that irritated the woman who stepped inside.

The woman gazed at the filthy room and scowled as the scent of shit ran across the air.

‘Gods, so filthy’

The room was akin to the size of half a horse’s stable - albeit, a poor stable, having nothing but a single closet shut slightly loose with a lock and a window adjacent to it that permitted a decent amount of Ra to flow in.

The woman walked up to the front of the closet and peered inside into the slight crack that refused to open fully due to the chained lock.

Her eyes stared intently into the black until it adjusted and found an eye staring back, blinking in rapid succession.

She smirked, as she saw the eye flinch, and took out a key from her gown pocket and unlocked the lock, releasing the chains slowly.

She opened the closet cabinets and observed in disgust at the abomination.

'It' tried to snuggle further away into the dark stretches of the closet but came to a stop when it realized it had no more room.

'Such a pest'

Growing more annoyed at watching the 'freak' retreat with it's forcibly bent arms, the woman took out what she originally came here to give.

It was a packet of biscuits.

She placed the biscuits one by one in front of the monster, as its red pupil stared at the round orbs.

Once the woman had placed all the biscuits down, she simply gazed at the monster as it shifted its stare back and forth between the biscuits and her.

The woman sighed.

'Must I always do this'

"Look, you imbecile"

The woman picked up one of the biscuits and took a large bite from it, as she began to chew slowly and loudly for emphasis to make sure she was understood.

The monster simply blinked its red eye in rapid succession as it slowly inched a hand with three fingers towards one of the biscuits and dragged it back to its mouth.

It took a large bite, and slowly began to chew and make loud crunching sounds.

The woman's brow twitched as she simply stood there and watched the little freak finish its meal.

Normally, the woman would have locked the cabinets and left but one too many times in the past, the creature had never attempted to eat the food that was given, and had simply left it there within the closet.

Once the creature finished its meal, it stared back at the woman as it’s eye continued blinking faster than was usual.

The woman gazed at the creature and looked at its surroundings.

There were a small crumpling of brown disfigured orbs behind the creature which she deduced as the creature’s faeces - its shite.

The woman crinkled her nose in mild disgust.

‘I’ll get the golem later’

Once she verified the creature had finished its food, she took the chains and began inching the cabinets closed.

The creature began blinking its eye quicker and shuffled its tiny black hand forward to reach for her, grazing the woman’s arm.

The woman immediately snatched her hand back in alarm.

“You..! You dare..?! ”

The room immediately dropped in temperature at a drastic rate, causing the creature to shuffle back in fright.

A glow of white surrounded the woman’s hand until the translucence took on form, as it evolved into a physical crystallized white stick.

The woman immediately opened the closet doors to its full length and glared disgustedly at the creature’s rapidly blinking single eye.

She raised her right arm, holding the stick high as she took aim, and immediately clashed it against the creature’s skin.

The creature’s body shook as it was hit, which encouraged the woman’s onslaught as her state of dominance guided her actions further.

Until the creature made a sickening yelp, that caused the woman to flinch and stop her attacks.

She gazed at the creature, at its skin, as the marks from the attack took on a purple hue on its grayish black skin.

“You… freak”

The creature was breathing in and out in quick feats; its single red eye stopped blinking as it was now shut tight, the muscle’s clenching around it - forcing them to close and not look at its assailant.

The woman erected her back straight as the crystallized white stick dissolved in the air vanishing from existence.

She closed the closet doors and locked it with the chained lock, glancing one more time at the monster, before she left the room.

“Thank you, Urak - for everything…”

A blonde man said, as he directed his gaze towards the individual on his right.

“No need, Lenneth”, Urak replied indifferently.

Lenneth smiled bitterly as he focused his attention back to the empty field in front of him.

The two of them had been in hiding within the forest, secretly following Silmeria to get to the whereabouts of the cabin.

“It’s warded”, Urak said.

“It’s fine, I can deal with that”, Lenneth replied as he took out a rectangular solid object from his pouch.

Urak glanced at the object, than back at Lenneth.

“Are you sure”

Lenneth clenched his fists and gazed back at Urak, looking directly into the giant Dragonian’s red eyes.

“Yes”

Urak nodded and stood up from his crouched position behind the thick bushes, and walked erectly towards the empty field, as Lenneth strode slowly behind him, constantly looking at his surroundings.

Once they neared the empty field, Urak felt an invisible wall that prevented him from taking a step further.

Urak glanced back at Lenneth and looked at the rectangular object in his hand, then back at Lenneth.

“Let’s start”

Lenneth nodded and worded an incantation that allowed the rectangular object to glow a bright crescent blue, before the Ra in the empty field fluttered before cascading and shifting until a lone cabin appeared within the area.

“GO!”

Urak immediately rushed towards the cabin and hurriedly attempted to open the door, however the door would only creak but not open as he pushed.

Annoyed, Urak clenched his fist around his spear and stabbed through the door, then kicked with the heel of his foot where the hole from his spear had left causing the door to topple over from the sheer weight of the assault.

He immediately went inside and found a lone closet that had its doors locked with a silver chained lock on its handles.

You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.

He grunted and grabbed the chain with his left hand, and aimed his spear at the bulk of the chain.

With haste, he swung down on the body of the chain with precision and heard the chains rattle as he saw a crack form.

He grinned and repeated this process causing the crack to gain larger in size, failing to recognize the rapidly blinking eye that observed him from within the closet.

Until, finally.

The chain cracked and fell apart.

He immediately shuffled the chains out from the handles and opened the closet doors, with both arms extending the doors as far as possible.

And.

His eyes immediately convulsed at what he saw.

A red eye.

A lone red eye blinked back at him in rapid succession but the thing that drew his attention was the appearance of the creature the red eye belonged to.

It’s skin was a range of greyish black, as its face had a single red eye, albeit a small one towards the right of its upper face, unlike those of a cyclops that had a gigantic all seeing eye that was perfectly symmetrical to their face.

It had black dark hair, it did not have a nose but a large mouth that camouflaged itself quite well as there were no distinction of lips but a single line that indicated that it was a mouth, or what he hoped was a mouth.

The most unusual thing was its body.

It had two arms, each with three fingers, like a harpie’s talons but without nails or fangs, and no legs.

Urak had seen many Lamias with a snakes lower half but this creature’s lower half simply looked as if someone had chopped it off and let its skin recuperate.

The most disgruntled fact was the creatures state. He could see its skin was hanging tightly to its bones and saw its ribs almost mending outwards through his flesh as if it had been starved for months.

Urak carefully pulled himself closer to the creature, but the creature slowly whittled away as its lone eye continued to blink in rapid succession.

“Do not be afraid… I am a friend”

He slowly inched his hand closer to the creatures hand and cringed when he noticed how skinny the flesh on his wrist was, outlining the bone in glaring detail.

The creature closed its eyes shut as it felt Urak’s hand graze him.

However, Urak didn’t have time to cater to the creature’s feeling, as Lenneth was still standing guard outside.

He took the creature forcibly into his hands, expecting a struggle, but eerily the creature simply stopped its motion and deflated its muscles slumping in his arms, as if it had given up.

Urak gently hugged the creature closer to his chest once picking it up, and secured him tightly with his left arm.

He glanced down at the creature and noticed it had stopped moving, and just laid there as if it were dead.

‘How cruel…’

He jogged back to the entrance so as to be delicate with the creature but still work quickly and stepped outside.

Once he was outside, he stopped in his tracks and gazed incredulously at a blonde haired woman that held Lenneth by his neck, effortlessly with one hand.

It was Silmeria.

“Oh my, what a big lizard you’ve brought with you Lenneth”, mocked Silmeria as her eyes glared at Urak with venom.

“Kurgh…Run..Argh..!”

Silmeria tightened the grip on Lenneth’s neck, as his eyes began to blur from the lack of Ro.

Urak gripped the spear tighter on his right hand, as he gently placed the creature on his left hand down to the ground behind him.

He glared back at Silmeria.

“Release him, Now”

“Why, of course”

Silmeria released Lenneth, as Lenneth came crashing to the ground coughing in fits before attempting to run away - only to be frozen in place as white Ri began to frost his feet all the way to his legs and waist, stopping all movement.

“Shite!”

As Lenneth began punching the frost on his waist, Silmeria gazed back at the large Dragonian and observed him.

The man was close to nine feet tall and his body was rippled with hard muscles that even an ogre would be envious of.

The aspect that stood out was the man’s face, as his head was that of a dragon’s, with a large snout that fit his frame well.

“I wonder-”

Before, Silmeria could say anything - she saw a spear inches from her eyes, as she quickly slid and dodged out of the way.

“Quite the impatient one-”

A thick giant fist came her way which she simply side stepped with and hit the Dragonian square in the chest with an opened fist injecting a tiny trace of Ri into her palm, as the man flew back and tumbled on the ground, going instantly unconscious.

“Aren’t you”

“STOP! Silmeria, stop, please, y-you win, okay you win!”, Lenneth screamed from his location as he twisted his upper body, free from the frost, until he met Silmeria’s glare.

“You vile trash… Stop? Win? If this was a real battle you and that lizard would already be dead!”

Lenneth cringed when he heard the venom behind her voice at the word ‘dead’.

She was too strong for the both of them. They couldn’t win. He simply had to compromise. At least she had stopped her assault and was now actually hearing what he had to say.

“Silmeria, can you… please let them go”

“Them - you mean the lizard and that ‘thing’?”

“He’s our son!”, Lenneth Yelled.

“QUIET! That thing does not even have the function to… it’s an abomination”, Silmeria said as she glared back at Lenneth.

Lenneth clenched his teeth.

“Then why the hell did you keep him alive!?”, Lenneth roared.

“Hahahaha, my dear sweet little Lenneth”, Silmeria walked slowly back to Lenneth until they were face to face.

She took her hand and gently grazed it across his cheek, causing Lenneth to shake his head the other way.

However, as soon as he did so, Silmeria’s right hand grabbed both his cheeks from beneath his chin and forcefully straightened his head so he gazed directly at her piercing blue eyes.

“Let’s use your head, what do you think would have happened if I had killed it”

Lenneth tried shaking her grip off but it was too tight and he was forced to keep his gaze steady with hers as she inched even closer to his face.

“You would have most likely attempted to fight me, in the best case scenario, or most likely would have left”, Silmeria cooed.

“And we can’t have that”, Silmeria clenched her finger tips until she felt the man’s jaws began to crack.

“Arghh!!” Lenneth yelled incoherently as his mouth felt like it would not budge.

“Now, can we?”, Silmeria smiled as she lessened her grip but still held him tight.

“Then… Let’s do a deal”, Lenneth said as he felt his jaw muffle.

“Oh, a deal?”, Silmeria said with an arched brow.

“Yes, a deal! Those two… If you let them go, I’ll stay a-and… and do anything you say!”, Lenneth said with slight hesitation.

“Hmm… how about this, Lenneth”, Silmeria began as she took her other hand and gently began to caress his left eyebrow with the tips of her fingers.

“I keep those two here with me, and that way - you will do everything I say, because if you don’t-”

Silmeria brought her hand down and opened her palm, as she gathered a plethora of Ri that physically manifested on her hand, and faced it towards the unconscious Urak still on the ground.

“STOP, SILMERIA! NO-”, Lenneth screamed at the top of his lungs.

A blast of white physical Ri blasted forth and decimated the ground to the right of where Urak lay, annihilating any tangible thing that stood in its path.

“I’ll make sure next time that I don’t miss”, Silmeria cooed as she lazily stared back at Lenneth.

“Well, doesn’t that sound better?”, Silmeria said as she brought her hand back up to caress his eyebrow.

Lenneth clenched his teeth and felt tears struggling to escape his eyes.

‘What have I done… Urak and Roan… they’ll be this witch’s slaves, but if not they’ll…they’ll’

“Rubbish”, a deep voice grumbled.

Lenneth’s eyes shook open in puzzlement, as Silmeria’s narrowed irritatingly at the intruding third party.

“Urak!”, Lenneth screamed in joy as he saw the giant Dragonian stagger back onto his feet.

“You little pest”, Silmeria vehemently swore.

“Lenneth, do not listen to this who-ARGH!”, before Urak could finish his sentence, a fist had punched his liver causing him to topple to his knees, as he glared at Silmeria who stood above him, glaring back at him.

“I’ve had enough”, Silmeria said as she froze the man’s legs and knees with her summoned Ri.

A white crystallized vapor began forming in her hand, slowly turning into that of a white stick, with one end ending in a sharp point - as if it were a giant needle.

“I’ve changed my mind Lenneth”, Silmeria glared at Urak as he desperately tried to move his feet but failed.

“S-Silmeria!?”, Lenneth eye’s widened open and began convulsing as he saw Silmeria point the giant white needle to the centre of Urak’s chest, where his heart lay.

“N-No, w-wait! STOP!”, Lenneth screamed.

“Don’t worry Lenneth, I will make sure to keep the creature alive but this lizard is clearly a bad influence for our son, don’t you agree?”

Urak glared at the woman and attempted to punch her with all his might but the frost had moved all the way up to the bottom of his arms, leaving only his chest and face exposed.

“Do your worst, you cunt” Urak glared hard at the women’s eyes causing red cracks to form in the black of his sclera.

“Oh, I will and more” Silmeria smirked as she licked her lips looking dead on at the soon to be dead lizard.

“STOP! NO! SILMERIA! WAIT! WAIT! WA-”, Lenneth screamed and pleaded the woman’s name to stop until he saw something black crawl next to him.

“ARGHHHHHHHH!”

A blood curling scream echoed out throughout the forest, causing Silmeria’s needle to graze the Dragonian, as she glanced back towards the scream in alarm.

Urak’s eyes widened in disbelief as he saw the blonde woman miss and look back, as her face changed from one of detest to one of absolute horror.

He would have roared in triumph had he not also looked at the direction she looked at.

But once he did, his heart stood still at the picture.

It was Lenneth.

He was free from the Frost and holding one of the chipped ends of the frost splints against his stomach, as a coating of red dripped into his clothes, drizzling down into the grass - it was blood.

“W-What are you doing!?” Silmeria turned around and began to run-

“DON’T MOVE!”, Lenneth yelled.

Silmeria immediately stopped as she saw Lenneth tighten his grip on the shaft of ice - lodged into his stomach, as another visible spurt of blood heavily gushed out.

“Heahehe…ow…”, Lenneth giggled laboriously as he saw both Silmeria and Urak glued to their spots.

“Let’s…hahh..make a deal…Silmy”, Lenneth said in pained breaths.

Silmeria cringed when he called her by that nickname.

“Now is not the time!”, Silmeria protested.

However, she immediately bit her lips shut when Lenneth pushed the knave even deeper causing the man’s eyes to slowly flutter as if her were drunk.

‘This is bad, he’s losing too much blood-ARGH he’s lost his mind-’

“Here’s….the deal…hahh..hahhh… you…let…them…leave..urgggh…or…you…lose me…”, Lenneth smiled exhaustingly.

“And…I…urghh..know…how much…you…hahh….hate…to…lose”, Lenneth chuckled deviously.

Silmeria mashed her teeth and quickly glared back at the Dragonian as he was too stunned to move and immediately touched the frost on his legs to negate the Ri.

Urak jumped in surprise and looked back at the woman as she released him in quick jubilant fashion.

“What are you doing! Hurry and take that thing and leave!”, Silmeria screamed at the end as she pointed at the dark creature beside Lenneth.

Urak hadn’t even noticed the child there but once he saw him, he quickly went over to Lenneth’s side more to help his friend than worry about the child.

Urak grabbed a hold of Lenneth’s shoulder to give him some support, both physically and emotionally.

“Lenneth…why…”

“Urak…plea..se…hahh...hahh..take…him…and…leave…”, Lenneth said as he fought to stay conscious.

“But what abo-”

“I’ll…be…fine…hahh”, Lenneth forcibly smiled back at his friend.

Urak clenched his fangs and looked to the ground where he saw a red eye blinking in slow succession.

Urak gently let go of his friend and lightly picked up the small creature within his arms, as he glared back at the blonde woman who annoyingly gazed back at him.

“Make sure he lives, woman”, Urak voiced lowly.

“As soon as you leave, lizard”, Silmeria voiced back in unrestrained irritation.

Urak took one last look at his friend and turned away, as he ran into the forest, not daring to look back.
