Chapter 18- Grandmas Spell/A Trip through the veil

Grandmas Spell/A Trip through the veil

It took several minutes for the old mud to kick in . Several minutes that the Lady Badu had decided to use to make cookies. Zabu waited patiently legs kicking the air as he waited for a primordial mud to kick in and cookies to be made.

Zabu looked at the kitchen attention only half there , the other half lazily drifted between thoughts.

Then he saw something. Like a slight tug on the room. As if , a room could be grabbed and stretched at a certain point. Zabu quitked his brow and tilted his head as slowly , the mud kicked in.

A plate clacked one the table .

“Oh you’re feeling it now little lord kakakkakaka. “ Lady Zabu said looking at him from above as she stood atop her chair . She took one leg and rested it upon the other . Relaxing in a one legged squat as she munched on a cookie.

Zabu was indeed feeling it now he thought.

For one thing , the tugging of the room seemed to have expanded the room vastly in the seconds he had looked away. Where there had been before 1 living and dining room worth of space , now their was at least one and a half . Zabu thought a little further on it. Maybe 2 ?

As he reached out to grab the cookie on the table and saw eleventh line upon it. The furthest depth of the furthest corner of the the furthest depth of the furthest depth.

Zabu shook his head .

And it seemed the table was endless .

Zabu frowned then turned his eyes to the one leg balancing woman munching on cookies . It was always like this when Granny Badu popped up .

She grabbed him and threw him in mystical rivers.

She would blow a bubble that bent time backwards and teleport him inside .

She made him sip from a fountain that turned him short. Then teleported him inside a forest that made him tall.

She had made him do many things .

Zabu’s sighed, she was also the one who showed him how to control his beam . He couldn’t catch the old bat when he tried , but even if he could he would still go with her whims .

Such was his gratefulness to Granny Badu.

As Zabu visibly watched the memories take physical shape and fly away, he frowned again.

Even still that was too much .

He turned to Lady Badu who in this moment under the sharpening of the world he was currently facing , looked immensely like a tree.

“This is a bit much granny . “

“Oh you’re feeling it . “ Lady Badu said , then she fell cross legged in her chair . Tell me what it looks like to you.

Zabu thought about. Like a , then he remembered looking at a fish tank with water .

“Like I’m seeing everything through glass. “

A fan cracked open , it’s snap striking his ears intensely . Zabu covered his ears .

“Everything’s too sharp.” He complained .

“I don’t like it. It’s too….. “. He struggled with the words for it.

A mischievous grin took the old woman’s features . “A natural eh.”

“Alright , hold on. “

She pointed at the top of the ceiling and her face took on light concentration, gnarling and twisting with effort.

“Ragous! “

She spit the word unto the ceiling . Green and blue mixed inside a white ball that shined dramatically.

It crashed then burst and all of a sudden Zabu felt the world’s sounds shrink . Like a elephant that had blown its trunk backward. It’s symphony accominied with a shrinking of the room and a slight retraction of sight.

It was still Sharp. But better.

The old lady looked down from her work towards the boy.

“Better? “

Zabu nodded .

Much better. He said, crossing his arms.

Then he frowned at the memory .

“Grandma ,do all your spells have colors like that,” it looked kind of cool. His eyes grew hungry at the thought of this new spell, it looked strong, like his beam.

She waved him off. “ That part was nothing special , just the color of my magyk is all.

You’re seeing the elements, young Zabu. “

The boy tilted his head curious , “seeing elements? “

“young Zabu. You said you seen a world of glass a moment before . Do you still see it as so? “

Zabu had no need to look around again . Even to a lesser extent now, The pristine clear detail of everything was still all around him. Here in there he would catch sight of a wispy green smoke as well, that would float away as soon as his eye would catch it.

He nodded .

“Good. Listen young Zabu, that is no mistake . What you are seeing is the world slightly removed of it’s veil. You are seeing it’s finest detail. The fact that you could see the colors of my spell make this even more so.”

The Old Woman took her finger and dipped it in the mud , then took it out and began to paint a tube upon the table .

It was a box with three corners painted neatly.

“There are three requirements of learning the spell of Ragou. “

She pointed to the first box. “The first. Is to be able to see through the veil.

She pointed to the second box. “The second is to have a vast well of magyk to assign the spell .”

She pointed to the last box . “ The third ….. is to have a mind strong enough to handle it. “

The woman who still looked immensely like a ancient tree in Zabu’s eyes , smiled .

“This is Ragou , the Spell of three. “

The woman pointed at the boxes on the table with a finger . “ Ragou. “

With a fizzle of green and blue the rune of mud sparked to life. A white energy emanating from within.

“This spell has a multitude of uses “, the old woman began .

“To overwhelm. “

She snapped her fingers and the world changed, becoming slightly different than the world he knew .

It was on fire .

Flames rushed toward him, before falling away in a mist.

“To heal.”

The mist warmed him and he felt his entire body relax and heat up. He looked toward a sizzle like feeling he felt on his right arm.

It was a bruise he had gotten , in the fight, with grizzly father. He watched the small lump sizzle under the steam then fade away. Soon the mist joined it.

“Crazy , is it not , young Zabu. “

Zabu’s brow quirked . The voice didn’t sound right.

He looked up to a voluptuous woman more beautiful then any he had ever seen. He couldn’t look away, so stuck he was in awe .

“To distract. “The woman spoke.

Then she was back to being a granny………. a tree granny.

The granny took her hand and scooped up the sizzling tube from the table and with a slap threw it on Zabu’s left shoulder before he could react.

In the viel removed world he watched as one box with three small squares wriggled atop his skin before settling to a stop.

A tatto of green, blue and white remaining.

“.Magical enough for you? “ Lady Badu asked munching on another cookie .

Zabu didn’t answer for a while . Thinking hard on what to say next .

“………You’re kind of crazy Granny “

Lady Badu smiled .

“Don’t you know it. “
