Chapter 14- Dreams and Blades

Dreams and Blades

The second morning Zabu trained alone. He went into the yard upon his waking and began swinging his sword immediately.

For he had dreamed of swinging his sword . In his dream he was many years older. Ancient really . With a beard of grey and locks of musty brown . He walked through a river with a long sword with a curve in its edge .

It bobbed up and down through the waves only occasionally revealing itself .

A crimson and black refined to a scary point.

The old Zabu as he had thought of his dream self looked like he was hardly paying attention, in fact , upon closer look he was wobbling .

He was drunk .

Zabu shook his head as he watched an old drunk dream version of himself waddle down the lake sword in hand.

Then he felt a quake, shook and fell deeper into the dream.

Burp.

Zabu watched as the world bent this way and that . Hiccup . He had drunken a little too much at that party.

Hiccup . That king really knew how to party. Hiccup .

His eyes focused on the vibrations in the water , pupil flicking across the lake as he scanned every wobble that appeared.

Hiccup.

Where was this thing ?

He reached in the pouch strapped to his thigh and pulled out a slightly drenched parchment .

On it, too Big blue bold letters were stamped firmly .

Water Panther.

A creature who after surviving the great continent's collisions decided to roam the coastal land in hopes of easier prey rather than fight the new ones invading its home .

Four generations and the devouring of sea infused flesh of magical proportions of many kinds later the creatures' very form had shifted .

Now they propelled their way through the ecosystem devouring , stalking and destroying the natural ecosystem.

If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

Bounty- 4. 8 Gold A Gill.

Hiccup .

Zabu tossed his head to the sky and yelled to the heavens .

“Gods above ! I beseech thee! For the quest I have completed in your name. Lend me your aid.

Great Divination! “

‘BOOOOOOM!!!!!’

A thunderbolt descended from the sky and landed smack on the parchment.

With a fizzle it shined gold , then with a slight static fizzle of gold more, a beam rocketed off of the parchment and into the water .

Directly behind him.

The man turned and slashed down as the creature launched up.

Blade and creature met, blue blood splashing into the air , where it landed upon the river with a splat. Zabu’s body hummed as his arm tangled from the slash. A second passed, another second followed , a third passed as well. The creature was dead.

Then Zabu's body shook and his vision shaked and Zabu was pulled from the dream.

Zabu Awoke.

And so , to ingrain the slash into his mind he began training immediately.

The first thing he addressed was his wrist . It wasn’t right . It was too loose. In fact he was holding the thing all wrong.

What he needed was to adjust his grip . With his right hand he put three fingers around the front and his thumb on the back of the blade. His left hand gripping the handle tight .

With all the fundamentals he had attained, he focused on the state of being from him in the dream. A completely loose body , and yet a completely aware mind, his thoughts open to the point that he focused on nothing.

The blade fell.

Wah.

A strange sound for his sword to make .

He kind of liked the swish better.

Too bad it was his best slash so far.

Then he began counting aloud

"1" Wah!

"2" Wah!

"3" Wah!

"4" Wah!

"5" Wah!

"6" Wah!

"7" Wah!

"8" Wah!

"9" Wah !

"10" Wah!

"11" Wah!

"12" Wah!

And so on till he got to 50 . When he got there he began to notice something. Sometimes he was getting a Wah! And sometimes he was getting a Swoosh! and sometimes he would get a Swish!

Then the young Zabu began to do a revision of his swordplay.

He was getting tired and leaving out elements of his slash. Sometimes just throwing or sometimes just swinging the blade too little, sometimes his wrist would loosen and it wouldn't have enough force in the throw.

When he just threw the blade he got a swoosh. When he just swung the blade he got a Swish! and when he combined them he got. Wah!

‘Umu.’ Zabu thought as he nodded to himself . Now he would know when he was off .

……….

No new revelations came to the boy as he reached 200 a good number he thought, and yet something settled on him, he had a feeling he could do better.

As Zabu pondered over the matter he heard a voice reach over his shoulder .

“Take a break son , I have a different task for you. “

His grizzly father stood there with two mountainous bowls of stew in his hand .
