Introduction

Thoughts raced threw her mind as she searched for an explanation of why she felt so lonely. She was miles away from everyone, while looking out beyond the grounds. Her focus was non existent on the work before her and had vanished hours ago. Everyone was asleep by now and the temperature had started to significantly drop.

Yet, she did not notice and continued to stare ahead, through the large bedroom bay windows. She sat curled up with her knees pressed to her chess. She wore a loose oversized gray tee and black dance pants, without socks not noticing the cool air around. She was so deep in thought, time had escaped her completely. The new moon above was spiracular and the stars sparkled like glitter threw out the night sky. While all this was very beautiful and could be seen as enchanting, she did not notice in the least. For her unfocus had her lost to reality.

Near by, Sebastian had his nose pressed upon the window and his eyes too searched for clues as to what was keeping Aireo so silent. It was not in her nature to be introverted and so distant from him. He did not like it in the least. He wanted to get her attention but had no clue as to how, for he had tried calling out to her moments before. She had paid him no attention and this only annoyed him more.

Within the light of the moon his eyes gleamed like mystic jewels, found within a dragons layer. His emerald eyes were captivating to say the least. The black hairs on his neck stood up and his ears became aware something was fast approaching. He could hear every sound of this mysterious night ahead.

Suddenly, without warning a white wolf appeared in the distance and howled. Thus breaking Aireo’s thoughts and she looked towards the white snowy wolf. It’s yellow eyes shined bright like topaz and captivated her. Making Sebastian jealous, he was not happy in the least. So, he decided to seize the moment and draw her attention away by knocking over some of her books. With a loud crash a few hit the wooden floor echoing.

Aireo quickly turned to see what had just occurred and was brought out of a trans. Sebastian being quite satisfied with him self seamed to smile. She looked at the three books for merrily a moment and then at him to pause. Then proceeded to look out the large window once more. Not surprisingly the white wolf was now gone and Sebastian was now angry at her, for ignoring him once more. Seeing as the mysterious stranger had disappeared, she brought her attention back to him and tried gently placing her hand on top of his head; with affection. However, he wanted nothing to do with her at the moment and glanced away from her to stare upon the moon. She sighed at his attitude and thought about how strange it was to see a wild wolf of any kind in the middle of the city. For they were in Los Angeles, California and not in the mountains by any means. The weather was becoming very odd lately and highly unpredictable in various ways. It was already fall and November was fast approaching like crazy.

The temperature had dropped immensely in only half an hour before she had locked eyes with the white wolf. Now, the coldness which had surrounded her was actually effecting her, as she had become aware of it. Aireo shivered for the first time in the night and seeing her reaction, Sebastian actually felt sorry for her and remorse. He leaned his head against her in an attempt to apologize and warm her up. She pulled him closer accepting his apology.

Just out side the window the strangest thing yet to occur in the dead of the night happened, right in front of their eyes! It started to snow slightly and then continued for a few minutes straight. Bewildered, Aireo was at a lost for words. Maybe for the first time ever, things were about to get very interesting around here, she thought a few seconds later.

The snow was beautiful and enchanting, she had never experienced watching it close before. The place in which they lived in, was full of character. They lived in a craftsman house. It was beautiful and not designed for snow blizzards. So, naturally Aireo wondered the effects the snow would have. Just then, like that, the snow ceased to fall suddenly.

As everyone else was still fast asleep at this hour, but them, Aireo and Sebastian continued to look out onto the blanket of fresh snow together. It was now fast approaching three in the morning and still she had not finished her intend reading assignments for her school. She was running out of time and honestly she couldn’t care less at this point; if it wasn’t for the subject matter being so important to her grandmother. She decided to pick up the three books from the ground, since Sebastian was not going to help. As she moved away from him and scooped up the books in her arms she noticed a page open…

It was not obvious at first sight but, as she glanced at the page she noticed a phrase which stood out “See no evil, hear no evil, tell no evil, Feel no evil”. The phrase was written in cursive and in the margin of a book on Aztecs??? What! Thought Aireo and almost dropped the books once more but, managed to hold on to them..  That’s cryptic she thought and placed the other two books on a near by shelf, while she held on to the latter. She noted the page was eleven and carefully looked at the spine of the book. With wide eyes she read aloud the title “Myths and Legends of The Aztecs”. What on earth?

Her mind was racing and trying to make logical sense on how she had acquired the book.

What was obvious was, it was not a school recommended textbook nor the required reading assignment she needed to complete. She had been planing on finishing her freshman high school assignments for the winter break later in the night. It was strange to say the least and didn’t make much sense, why she had it. In many ways she was a typical fourteen year old at first sight. However, the truth was she was far from ordinary.

Sebastian was now casually lying down on the soft cushions of the bay window seat and looking at Aireo curiously. “What?” She asked him out loud but he didn’t respond. So, she went to place the strange book near her desk, which was as far away from the window as possible. Then she went back to the window, to join him and seeing as he didn’t care to share the space with her, in the slightest she playfully pushed him off.

Needless to say he was not amused in the least and immediately let her know by biting her hand. “What the hell! Sebastian!!!” She cried out too loudly and then regretted it. She knew better than to wake everyone up, except for emergencies.

Her parents both had important jobs that required a certain adequate amount of sleep per night. Her father being a studio producer and her mother who was a doctor. One, who happened to be a well know Pediatrician, at a children’s hospital near by. Not to mention, she was a world reknown as well.

Aireo was about to get her bottle of water and pour the water on Sebastian, but luckily for them both,  before things got too ugly and unpredictable …

Something stopped her and she had a strange feeling, the need to look up out that dam window again. As she did, a strange sensation fell upon her. She could not describe nor pin point it but, something was underway. For the snow had started up again, when she was not paying attention.

This time it was falling hard in waves and blanketing everything on the way down and all around. It was so beautiful and powerful to watch. Although, it was very weird for it to be snowing at all there! The snow drifted for a little while longer, until a slight wind made the snowflakes dance in a spiral. Which lead to a pattern forming on the ledge of the window sill, closest to them. As the pattern emerged in front of their eyes, Aireo realized it was a beautiful geometric shape.
