"The senate brings forth a grave accusation against you, Lord Corvais: a failure to uphold your duty to your house, an act that has led to great harm to the city of Fartell! How do you plead?" asked the emperor.

"Not Guilty my liege," spoke Lord Corvais and began his prepared speech, "Lords and ladies of the senate, many of you know me I am a man of business and have sought the betterment of Port Fartell in all that I do. My actions clearly show this. I will admit that my daughter is strong willed and I may have been too harsh with her as Lord Devein has raised against me, but my actions that lead to this calamity were in benefit of the city. My daughter came to me under the guise of a business opportunity, one I say would have been very profitable if it had been her true intent. This council approved the items enabling my daughter to cause this disaster, a fact you cannot ignore. I therefore recommend a less severe charge than is being held against me."

Lord Corvais watched with interest as Lord Devein rose after stating that he was bringing the charge and explaining the grounds for it.
