~Tournament of the Guard~ Pt 2: Carter vs. Helena

Next match was between Carter and Helena; they both were punctual and approached the stage only stopping about ten feet from each other with the referee between them. "Second Match: Competitor #2: Carter Willhelm vs. Competitor #4: Helena Tremere" the referee announced the combatants, raising his hand in the air and quickly dropping it, shouting "FIGHT!"

Carter, the Draconi-Tortugan Sage, Guardian of the Agarthan Empire. As an off-shoot of Draconi, Tortugans also possessed the infamous Dragon's Breath; its affect was more original out of many styles. They possessed Swamp Breath, a type of rot-poison that would simply melt its targets from the surface contact it acts like an acid burning away at the layers that fell in its path. There were only a few Tortugan Sages that had mastery of the Breath so skilled they would create a Gemetized Breath. This acted as a type of petrification, turning its targets into crusted gems and jewels only found in the depths of the earth. Carter Wilhelm, now the current Tortugan Sage had mastery over the Elements of Earth Water and Poison. Abilities that were blessed by the Homodraconis Ancients that created the first generation of Draconi. Carter is blessed with high Defensive skills and equipped with the Sagemaster's Staff, that would glow within its intricately designed metal wood decorations. Carter had trained in many age old magi paths obtaining the Blade of the Watcher from a group of Druids that blessed their banner for the Sage to carry as symbol of their gratitude.

Helena was a middle-aged High-Elf that was a skilled Ranger and Scout, mastering her Bow at a very young age for Elves. Helena's Living Yew Bow would regenerate itself over time from durability loss. Her skills in such projectile magics that she never needed to use ammunition; yet she still always carried a full quiver of arrows. Helena had talents in Ice magic and would become a master of Crystal and Gem magics, an off-shoot of Earth elements. She was given the Infinite Pouch at her coming of age ceremony as her skills would demand it, having been an avid huntress that fed the needy. This would lead to her creating Sleuth tools, Traps, Snares and other booby traps that would all have a magical effect no matter which one she would pull out. Helena graduated at the top of her Regiment, allowing her to obtain the Spellbook of Maragarde. This manuscript would be given only to the select few blessed in the arts of mana manipulation and energy creation. It contained all of the ancient spells of the High-Elves and the origins of their creations.

Carter had drawn his weapon, anticipating Helena's quick movements as she would flicker from heights and fire her bow each time. Carter spins his staff with such dexterity that all he needed to do was do a simple drill practice that was part of his daily monk's exercises. Spinning and twirling in a figure eight pattern keeping his hands together allowing his flexibility in his wrists move side to side and even above and behind, deflecting every arrow. Helena did not let up the heat, as she strafed side to side, charging her bow with mana and unleashing crystallized infused arrows. Suddenly the arrows began to stick into Carter's staff making it unbalanced, as another arrow grazed his back as he turned; leaving a gash in his hard, shell-like back.

"'Tis been a while since I added a scar to my carapace." Carter was taunting Helena, almost mockingly.

"Be sure to hold your tongue, reptilian! I have only begun!" Helena scoffed back.

A smirk came across Carter's face, taking a deep breath, filling his glands with spew, a deadly flammable poison. Carter's skill was known throughout the Isle's of Agartha, some say he contributed to the mist's confusion that surrounded the Agarthan Empire. Squeezing his breath through his lungs, giving them ignition of a strange kind. Carter belched, breathing out a fume that was noxious and settled to the ground and then rose up like smoke. Within moments the stage was enveloped in the fog, Carter's control was masterful. Helena was forced to regroup and pull up a collar, only to stall the infectious gases from taking her out. Helena began a murmuring chant, filling her body with mana, to the point where her skin would shift slightly in color to a pale blue. Helena awakened her bloodline ability and became a squire of Frost. She let out one word, "Iceage." Energy collected around Helena's body beginning to glisten as the mana flowed. A cold blast of frigid winds filled the arena dropping the temperature dramatically. This caused the noxious gas from Carter's breath to freeze mid air, like a frozen forest tundra.

Carter took no time to counteract such a force, being blessed with Earth-Water magics this would be more trivial than Helena realized. The frigid winds reached Carter almost engulfing him in a crystallized iceberg, yet this would not hinder Carter, being trained in living breath he was regulating his temperature and would manipulate particles to the point they became crystallized rock, and compacted on itself, shattering into thousands of rock crystals all pointed at Helena. This may be the end of the match for her. Helena did not go down without a fight, increasing her agility to the point where she would seemed to have dodged all the rock crystals. Unfortunately Carter was one step ahead, firing a rock crystal from beneath Helena's feet. It splintered into more pieces and magnetized the air sending shockwaves through her body to the point of paralysis and knock out.

"Match Over! Winner: Competitor #2 - CARTER WILHELM!" The announcer called the match, as service workers showed up to take Helena to Paramedics and repaired the stage within mere moments.
