The day has come to choose a new king, but in this tiny village nobody seems to care enough; people just go about their day.
"Alright, let's get this over with." A man and a few other people were down in a dungeon collecting stones to sell.
The leader of this group was named Al; he is a muscular, tall, and bearded guy.
"Someone pass me a torch." The other guys did not have any.
"Tsk." Al clicked his tongue in a disappointing manner.
"You guys are useless here." A light came from his hands; it was magic, light magic to be exact.
They walked and walked until they found the stones they were looking for. They mined and mined until the brink of dusk, and just as they were about to leave, one of the men saw something strange.
"Hey boss, come look at this."
"W-what is this...?" Al looked confused as he did not know what he was looking at. It seemed like someone was trapped inside of what looks like a crystal.
"How did this get here in the first place? It looks hundreds of years old."
They pondered what they should do. One of the men was sceptical about even going near the crystal. But one thing is for certain: Al can't seem to leave the young man who's trapped in there.
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
"We can't just leave him! If it weren't for us, we wouldn't even have found him."
"I agree. Get me the pickaxe."
Reluctantly they gave him the pickaxe, but as expected it didn't even scratch the crystal. They went on for hours and hours but to no avail.
Al cursed under his breath. "God damn it!" He tried as hard as he could, even with magic, and nothing seems to work.
"It's no use; we should head back home and let the royal guards handle this one."
"Fine." Al really did not want to leave the poor young man in there, but he was powerless. They went back to their home and rested.
The next morning he went to the royal guards to report this weird crystal.
"Are you sure of what you're telling me?" One of the guards was surprised by this discovery.
"I swear it's the truth. You don't believe me? your own brother?"
"Hm, I just find it hard to believe that there's been a crystal with someone inside."
"Yeah, well, I saw it, and it appears to be a few hundred years old."
The guard was flabbergasted; he couldn't believe what he just heard. "You're serious, aren't you?"
Al nodded in silence.
The guard was still in disbelief, but he went and gathered up some troops to see.
"You'll guide us there."
"Whatever you say."
Having arrived at the dungeon, Al guided them to the exact location, except...
"What is the meaning of this?" The guards were confused. There was nothing, just an empty crystal.
Al tried to explain that what he saw was real. "The boy was in there, I swear!"
"You just wasted our time looking for someone who doesn't even exist." The guards turned around and started walking towards the exit.
"Was it a dream?" No. He was sure of it; something must've gone down here.
As Al was leaving the dungeon, there was a hooded figure watching from atop with some menacing eyes.
"Now they won't suspect a thing."
