It was a little after the morning rush hour. The roads were fairly empty except for two cars that were weaving in and out of traffic. The car in front was driving more recklessly and at a very high speed. The second car was trying to tail behind and at the same time follow traffic rules.
The first car, a white Volvo, was rusting and in clearly bad condition. The car was fully occupied, with a total of five passengers. The driver nervously glanced from his side view mirror to his rear view mirror.
The second car that was tailing behind was starting to catch up. The driver nervously glanced at the traffic light, ensuring that it was still green.
Taking a gamble, he stepped harder on the gas pedal. His eyes flicked back and forth from rear view mirror to side view mirror. With luck, the traffic light turns yellow instantly before going bright red. The white Volvo speeds and skips through the red light.
The driver in the second sees the red light and abruptly brakes. The four passengers were nearly thrown out of their seats but were saved by their seatbelts. The passenger right next to the driver sighs out loud.
“This is what happens when we get a newbie to drive.” he says glaring angrily at the driver.
“Captain. We were unable to catch them. Handing them over to you.” he says speaking over the radio transmission in the car.
“Don’t worry, we have our sights on them. Head back to base.” a voice answers back.
“Copy that.” he replies, still glaring at the driver. The driver looks at the passenger the whole time he makes the call, unaware that the light had turned green. A car behind honked loudly.
“Drive!” the passenger yells again, slamming the receiver back into its holder.

Upon seeing the car that was tailing them stop at the traffic light, most of the passengers in the white Volvo start to cheer.
“We lost them!” cheers the child in the middle. The boy on the right cheers along with him. The person on his left, wearing a baseball cap remains tight-lipped and does not smile. The person’s fingers gently traced the long object in her hand. The person in the seat right next to the driver also remains tight-lipped. His face looks cold.
The driver continues to drive, his shoulders are tense. His eyes are focused on the road in front. As the white Volvo weaves through different cars, a black jeep starts to pick up speed from behind. A blue Honda, starts to follow the white Volvo stealthily.
“We have company.” the person next to the driver says. The driver grips the steering wheel tightly and steps on the gas pedal again. The car gains speed but the blue Honda and the black Jeep are following closely behind.
“The white car with the number plate XYQ391H, please pull up on the side. I repeat. This is the police. The white car with the number plate XYQ391H, please pull up on the side.” Announced a person from the black Jeep holding a loudspeaker.
“Is that our number plate?” The person next to the driver asks sarcastically.
“Could be. We’ve changed our number plate so many times I don’t remember which one it is today.” The person wearing the baseball cap replies, playing along.
“In that case, then it's alright.” Smiles the person next to the driver.
The other two children snicker as they try to hold their laughter. The driver was unaware of this conversation ongoing as he was fully focused on the road and the vehicles tailing behind. The blue Honda was starting to catch up with the white Volvo.
The person next to the driver shot the person wearing a baseball cap a look. The person wearing the baseball cap meets his eye, he gives her a side glance and nods curtly. Adjusting the position of the object, the baseball cap person grips it tightly.
“Boys, heads down. Don’t lift them unless I tell you to.” The baseball cap wearing person warns. Both the boys bend forward, with their heads touching their knees. They huddle close to each other. The person mounts the object onto the back of the seat. She looks into the small magnifying glass and pulls the trigger.
Something small round and pointed flies at warp speed. It breaks a perfect hole in the glass at the back of the car. It then flies straight to the blue Honda and lodges itself into the windscreen. The whole windscreen cracks.
The driver in the Blue Honda was not startled by the object that lodged itself in the windscreen. In fact, he was thankful for the windscreen. Had it not been there, it would have gone straight through his forehead, leaving him and his fellow passengers dead.
He watched as a white liquid seeped out of the object and spread out slowly over the cracks formed in the windscreen. It completely blocked his view.
“Captain. We’re unable to continue.” Says the person sitting next to the driver seat in the Blue Honda.
“No worries. We’ll move upfront. Stay behind as support.” Says the voice through the radio.
“One more thing. Shadow is in the car.” He adds.
