Chapter 9 ~ Just a kid trying to have some fun (91 Chapters Left)

JASON

« You are dead! » the muscular body of Kyle forced people to move out of his way, as he rushed to the entrance of the club, where that crazy high school kid had just thrown a pizza slice at his face. Jason of course didn’t just stand there, quickly sprinting out of the club door.

That kid legs moved almost as fast as his tongue, as he slipped through the corners of the streets, with the trained rugby player struggling to stay at his pace. His friends, who had tried to follow him to try and stop his fury, quickly lost him. If Kyle managed to get him, that boy would be on his own. And seeing how this last turn got them in a cul-de-sac, there really seemed no other way this little run could end but with a badly injured teenager laying in a hospital bad for a few weeks. Best case scenario.

« I guess I’ll teach you some manners. The old way! » Kyle smiled, as he reached for the kid at the end of the road and grabbed his t-shirt. With his herculean strength, he lifted the kid from the ground with one arm, grabbing him from the collar. Not that it would have been too difficult for a normal adult man. That skinny kid was even shorter than the average 15 or 16 years old would be. « You better start begging and apologizing » the man said, with a sadistic look in his eyes, raising his other fist in the air, ready to strike.

But…why wasn’t the kid scared? He wasn’t trying to run away or protect himself. He wasn’t even looking away. He was staring at the man dead in the eyes, with a devilish smile. That same confidence, that same rakishness that he displayed at the club. For one split moment the man hesitated. That kid really was crazy. Yet, unfortunately for him, the rugby player really needed something to discharge his anger onto, right now. And he would be the unfortunate victim of his rage. Or so he thought.

« Hey » the kid grabbed the man's arm. « Do you wanna see something cool? ».

It was a flash. Kyle didn’t understand what had happened for a few seconds. He had felt a sudden nauseating feeling. Like when you dream that you are falling, or when you are just too drunk and feel like vomiting. He did really feel nauseated. And confused. That was probably due to the fact that his brain was trying to make sense of the fact that everything around him had changed. The place, the sounds, the temperature. The strong wind. He was still grabbing the kid, but they were not on the streets anymore. They were…

« AAAAAH! » the man screamed, instinctively letting go of the boy. They were falling! Free falling in the sky, from an enormous height. If it were night, it could have been hard to see, but apparently wherever they were it was a very sunny day. A very beautiful day to die, squashed against the green surface that was approaching very fast.

« I…You…WHAT IS GOING ON??? » the man screamed, looking at the boy for the first time since the jump. That expression of fun and light-headedness was still on his face.

« Oh, this? » the boy faked surprise « We just jumped to a veeery high height, my friend. Or teleported, if you prefer that world. Also, we are not in your city, as you may have noticed from the wonderful weather ». He closed his eyes and baked in the sunlight.

« I actually came here to skydive a few weeks ago, but it wasn’t nearly as beautiful as today! ». Teleporting? Jumping? What the hell was he talking about? Kyle heart was just filled with terror at the sight of the ground coming ever closer to them.

« GET ME BACK HOME! GET ME BACK ON THE GROUND!!! » he screamed panicking.

« Now, now…didn’t you say you were gonna teach me some manners? Is that how you ask for help? » the boy was messing with him.

« Please, PLEASE! I beg you! I’ll do whatever you say! » that big muscular man was…crying?

« Oh boy, I thought I was the kid here…crying seriously? Fine…I’ll get you on the ground… » Jason said, teleporting next to Kyle, making the face of the athlete sparkle in hope. But then he suddenly teleported a few meters away, still falling.

« But I feel like we are missing something here…mmmh…let me think… ». Kyle felt like his heart stopped. Was that kid really about to let him die? Is that how his life ended?

« I’ll stay away from Bella! I swear on my life! I swear on my mother! » he said in realisation « I’ll never get close to her again! I SWEAR! ». His cries were now that of an infant.

« That’s better. And right on time » Jason answered, looking at the ground.

Whatever happened next, Kyle could never describe. The boy appeared next to him. Then they “jumped” at least a dozen times more. It was so fast that he could barely make sense of what he saw. But his guts felt the jumps each time. Then finally, he felt the cold surface of the asphalt again, as his face smashed against it not so lightly.

Were they home? Were they safe? Yes! He was on the ground! He threw up a couple of times before getting back up as fast as he could, barely noticing how wet his pants were or how red were his eyes for all that crying. He launched a quick look at the boy. He was leaning on the wall of the narrow street they had appeared in. That f***ing smile still on his face. As if he never stopped mocking him.

« Shush! » Jason made a quick wave with his hand. It was the sign for the man to run. And so he did. He run as fast as he could. Not noticing the little screams of fear he gave at every step, or the tears that kept streaming down his face. Or the fact that he had just run by his friends, Bella and her friends, just outside the club.

« Well, I guess he won’t be bothering you anymore, my Bella » Jason emerged from around the corner. The “rugby team” had run after their friend, trying to figure out what the hell that kid had done to him to put him in that state. Bella, as the rest of the girls and the few passers-by that had assisted to the spectacle, looked at him partly amazed and partly worried.

« Who…who are you? » asked Bella, in a moment of genuine admiration but also preoccupied curiosity for that little miracle boy.

« I am just a kid trying to have some fun! ». He smiled.
