Chapter 19- The Imperial Library

As usual, after a long cold night, the sun rose into the sky and took her rightful place on the horizon, igniting the world anew with its majestic and divine brilliance

It was as of it has missed the sky and wanted nothing more than to warm the world with its golden sunlight that softly caressed the land and ignited the birds into a chorus of melodies.

Currently, Mikhail was standing quietly by the window of his room, looking at the beautiful landscape garden in front of his palace that was basking under the sunlight.

The giant garden was comprised of a plethora of beautiful flowers and plants that Mikhail has never seen before. Each one of the flowers and plants complemented the other and looked more beautiful together than alone.

Mikhail wasn't the kinda guy that was interested in things like gardens, but the one in front of his palace was so beautiful that he couldn't help himself from admiring it.

“Wow! the gardener did an exceptional job.” He astonishingly murmured to himself before he went back to seat on his bed.

It's already been more than an hour since he woke up and he didn’t know what to do, nor did he has anything to do.

If he was back on Earth, he would have simply woke up and hit the dungeons or stayed in bed with a bunch of beauties, enjoying himself.

He was free to do whatever he wanted and whenever he wanted. However, it wasn’t the case here.

Even though he was the 13th Prince of the mighty Helios Empire and wielded great power, he was still bound by many invisible shackles and rules due to his noble status.

Despite having many advantages, just being part of the Imperial Family in itself was like a shackle. This was the main reason why Mikhail didn’t join any guild or organization when he was on Earth.

Whether it was a guild, a clan, the army, and even an imperial family, whether it was in this world or Earth, all organizations were the same. It was all about the redistribution of resources and power.

The high and low positions were established by the leader including the law of promotion which gave the ones at the bottom a chance or a way to climb up by working their ass off. After all, chasing after profits and power were the nature of humans.

Every time one climbed a level, there would always be a level higher with more power and authority.

Meanwhile, as one was busy currying favor for personal gain and level up in the command and power chain, his hard work would be squeezed out from him and his value exploited by the upper position.

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

In every organization, as long as there was a chain of command, it’s all about serving those at the upper ranks.

Mikhail didn’t like that kinda illusionary glory and subtle slavery system. He didn’t want to be a cog in anyone’s machine.

He preferred true freedom as well as walking his own path. He didn’t care what others think about him, whether they were disappointed, unhappy, or even despised him.

Aside from that, just being the 13th prince of the Helios Empire has caused him to have many enemies even after relinquishing his right to the throne.

Different people had different mind frames and naturally different answers. Mikhail wasn’t like Vandal who liked to compromise and be on the defensive.

He was both like a Lion and a Fox depending on the situation. He would use overwhelming strength, violence, and cruelty when needed and scheme his way as well if necessary.

Sometimes, a blind compromise might not give one the peaceful environment one sought and instead made that person looked weak and easy to bully just like the previous owner of this body and his older brother.

“In the end, it all comes down to strength. Before absolute strength, all schemes and machinations are useless and meaningless.” Mikhail coldly whispered to himself with a resolute expression on his face.

“Patience, let’s be a little more patient.” He comforted himself.

After saying that, Mikhail went to clean himself and dressed neatly before he went downstairs where a sumptuous breakfast was waiting for him.

Even though he was a hassle being the 13th Prince of the Helios Empire, it also had its perks.

“Martin, prepare a carriage for me. I need to go to the Imperial Library.” Said Mikhail after finishing his meal. Even though he was still in the Imperial Palace, the Imperial Family’s Library was a good twenty minutes away from his place.

After breaking through the 4th Circle Mage, Mikhail needed to learn some 4th Circle magic spells. It was the last step to become a full-fledged 4th Circle Mage.

Aside from that, there were also many things that Mikhail wanted to check out in the Imperial Library.

From the memories of Vandal, Mikhail knew that being a mage wasn’t simply about casting spells and shooting fireballs. There were also many different types of mages as well. Such as Elementalist, Necromancer, and Summoners, etc.

As someone who’s on the quest for absolute strength, Mikhail planned on broadening his horizons as well as his power. He didn’t want to be just a simple mage.

“Yes, your highness.” Respectfully answered Martin. Aside from being Mikhail’s servant, Martin was also his coachman when needed.

Even though Martin might look like a feeble old man, but in fact, he was a powerful Noble Rank Knight. However, he had suffered a heavy injury which resulted in his power decreasing to an 8-Star Aura Knight.

After Martin had prepared the carriage. Mikhail left the Palace and walked towards the carriage which was stationed in the front yard.

Along the way, he continuously met servants who bowed to him in fear and trepidation, but he went on without giving them any notice, as he was lost in his thoughts.

He was still thinking about his future move and ways to quickly increase his strength as well as how to awaking the Ultimate Skill that made him the most powerful Hunter back on Earth.’Divine Sight.’

Soon, Mikhail arrived in front of the luxurious carriage and stepped inside. After making sure that Mikhail sat comfortably, Martin steered the horses and the carriage began to move.

Twenty minutes later…………..

“Your highness, we’ve arrived.” Informed Martin as he stopped the carriage.

Upon hearing Martin’s words, Mikhail slowly got out of the carriage. The moment he did, he was greeted by a magnificent white building with the words’ The Imperial Library Of The Helios Empire’ majestically carved on a giant golden plaque.

“Welcome to the Imperial Library 13th Prince your highness. I’ve already received word that you were coming. You are a rare visitor. Let me show you the way.” Said an old man that was standing in front of the giant door of the library as he bowed to Mikhail.

Looking at the old man, Mikhail didn’t say anything. He gently nodded his head as he followed him. Aside from the old man, there were also two imperial knights with full-body armor guarding the giant door of the library.

“Creak.” The moment they got close, the heavy door of the library opened by itself, allowing Mikhail and the old man to enter.

The building didn’t look very large from the outside, but after entering, one would find this place became massive - akin to entering a different dimension.

At the same time, the smell of books assaulted the nostrils - indicative of the great number of books found here.

This collection was comparable to the stars in the sky. Towering bookshelves everywhere with countless books.

Each one of the bookshelves was classified, there were history, astronomy, geography, climate, mysteries, agriculture, history of magic, and magic spells, etc. There were a bunch of them.

“So, this is the Imperial Library,” Mikhail murmured to himself with an astonished expression on his face as he was looking at the sea of books in front of him. He had never seen this amount of books before in his life.
