Ceren coughed and stirred as Kevlin pushed a lock of hair from her face. She opened her emerald eyes and smiled.

“Kevlin, you’re safe.”

He helped her sit up, relieved to see her awake.

Two women hugged each other, laughing and crying simultaneously. Kevlin wrapped his arms around them both. They hugged him back, and for a moment all was well with the world. His worries melted away under the simple embrace.
