I turn around and widen my eyes. She’s not wearing anything on top now. Those round hills on her chest have nipples on them like my chest, but they’re different. I can practically feel my sweat forming on my face now. I feel some sort of fire growing inside me that I’ve never felt before. I cover my eyes with my hands, instinctively.

“Don’t be shy, you can look,” she says while firmly grabbing my hands with hers. She stares me right in the eyes, and I can’t help but look down at her chest.

I turn to the door. That’s Astrid…? And she said, Daisy? So, that’s who the one who showed me… My face turns hot again as I replay the moment she showed me everything. By the time I turn around, it looks like she’s got her clothes back on.

“Fine! I’m coming!” Daisy exclaims and then opens the door.

Yep, it’s Astrid and the others.

“I knew it!” Astrid exclaims. “By the look of Kai’s face and that getup, you were up to no good. You disgusting wrench, you forgot to zip your shorts.”

“Hmph,” Daisy interjects, zipping the front of her shorts. “All I hear is the crying of the loser. Still salty about losing the contest to me?”

“Yeah, whatever. You know that I would’ve won without your dirty tricks.”

“He, he, he,” Daisy gloats. “Only the outcome matters. So why are you here? I’ll tell Moria that you’re cheating now. We each get two hours alone with Kai, that’s fair and square, but you’re interrupting us.”

“Us cheating, hah! We knew something was up when I saw the idiot trio by themselves without you and your two sidekicks.”

“We’re not going anything against the rules. We’re just having a friendly chat. Right, Kai?” Daisy asks.

“Uhh…yeah,” I say while looking away from her.

Astrid grits her teeth and grunts. “Kai, we really don’t want to lose you, so I’ll set aside my pride for now. I know what she promised you, and I swear I’ll promise the same to you.”

“Hey, that’s crossing the line!” Daisy exclaims. “You already used up your two hours to try and convince him! You can’t march in here and do this! Kai, don’t listen to her. She’s all talk. She’s might let you see her boobs, but she’s definitely not going to let you touch her, let alone let you pound her with your dick!”

“What?!” Astrid exclaims, her eyebrows and face contorting.

“Yeah, that’s right. I promised him 24/7 access to me… To us,” Daisy says and points to the two girls behind her.

Taihan whistles. “Wow I’m envious of you Kai I’m not gonna blame you if you pick them over us at this point.”

“You, shut it!” Astrid exclaims and throws a punch to Taihan.

They pull, squeeze, slap, and kick each other in all sorts of places. A bit different than what I imagined based on my battles with Sitos. It almost looks like me last year when I met Sitos…but they’re two years ahead of me.

“Kai, want to talk for a bit?” Lance asks, pointing his thumb behind him in the hallway.

I look between him and the two fighting on the ground.

“Sure,” I answer and follow him.

“No pressure to make your decision now, but I just want to say a few things. First, remember, we’ve been the best performing team on average in our generation since our first year. Second, I know you’ve got higher expectations for our food, and that’s not a problem. We can afford to spend a little more and Gaston can spin up something tasty just for you.”

“Yup, leave it to me,” Gaston says.

“Third, Astrid always takes her words seriously, so, in case that’s really a deal breaker for you, you don’t need to worry.”

“Don’t put your hopes on me, though. You’ve already disappointed me,” Karen says. “You should feel privileged already that you get to join our group. You’d be nothing more than a pig if you join Daisy’s group.”

“That’s too harsh Karen give this kid a break he just started his second year I mean he has to choose between every man’s dream at that age calling him a pig is too much,” Taihan says. “I won’t blame you Kai if you go with Daisy that’s a tough decision if I had to make right now I mean I love being with you guys but you know I’d gotta go with Daisy.”

“Ahem… While their prospects in that aspect may be better than us, but you know it’s true that we’ve all seen Daisy topless already. She did it to win an informal beauty contest among our generation just for a vanity title and attention. She’s dangerous and unpredictable. Who knows what will happen later down the road as Adventurers, she may abandon you once it’s inconvenient for her. Moria told us about your Mana type rankings. We won’t do that to you. We plan to keep you for the long-term.”

“That’s right if you wanna be a Dispatcher then go right ahead I won’t push you to be a calculator anymore.”

“Yeah…thanks,” I say. What they said makes a lot of sense, and it makes me want to say yes right now, but I need to slow down and think about it more. I was about to say yes to Daisy without thinking much about it. “I think I need to think about this more.”

“Of course!” Lance exclaims. “Again, no pressure from us, we just want you to have all the facts. Why don’t you take some time to think about it?”

I nod, turn around, and then walk away. What I know for sure is that I won’t choose the second group, so that leaves Lance’s group and Daisy’s group. My lower half becomes excited again just thinking about Daisy. I wish Astrid didn’t interrupt us…

No, no, no… I need to remember why I wanted this opportunity in the first place. That’s to join a competent group. But, Moria told me all of the groups were some of the best. If Daisy is in the same year as Lance’s group, does that mean they’re second best? That’s close enough to first place. But, they didn’t win the second large room in their third year…

What Lance and the others said really does make sense. As soon as I got to the third group, before I knew any of their names, or anything else, they tried to bribe me. Bribe…me… I mean…hmm. What’s wrong with that? With me, they’ll definitely win the remaining contests, and I’ll get the benefits too, and more…

But I’ll still get some benefits with Astrid too, right? It’s a much better choice to pick Lance’s group at this point. There’s nothing else to think about. I turn back around and head back to Daisy’s room where everyone’s gathered. Looks like Astrid and Daisy have finished their dispute.

Lance breaks away from his group and approaches me first. “Kai, what are you doing back here? You should go and come back later.”

“Well, actually—“

“Kai, sorry about that!” Daisy exclaims.

Both teams are in the hallway now, looking in our direction.

She continues, “Why don’t we continue where we left off? We still have some time left.”

Where we left off? My lower half becomes excited again. I smile. Well, what’s the harm in wrapping up my session with Daisy? I could always tell Moria I’ll choose Lance’s group in the end. I answer, “Sure!”

The two other girls walk in first with Daisy waving at me as she goes into her room. Before I have a chance to go in, Astrid stands in front of me, blocking my way in. “Kai, if you go in there now, I won’t accept you into our group. Decide now which team you’re going to join. If you want to join Daisy’s team, then I’ll get out of your way.”

Huh? I thought I had more time to think about it? Why do I have to decide now? Lance shrugs with both hands in the air. Ah, that’s why he wanted me to leave. It’s disappointing I won’t be able to finish my session with Daisy, but Astrid is willing to do the same, right?

“Hey, you’re blocking the way!” Daisy exclaims and shoves Astrid away. She grabs my hand. “Let’s go, Kai!”

She pulls me, but I resist and take my hand back. “Actually… I’ve decided. I’m going to join Lance’s group.”

“What are you talking about? Don’t mind what she said. After we’re done, if you still want to join the other group, that’s fine with me,” Daisy says and takes my hand again. She pushes it against her chest.

I grin. Those domes are actually really soft…

“Can you be any more shameless?” Astrid asks and pushes Daisy back into her room. “He’s already made his decision.”

Astrid takes my hand and pushes it against her chest.

I frown. It’s no different than if I was touching my own chest.

“You made the right choice, Kai,” she says and lets my hand go.

Daisy sighs. “Fine. But, you’re welcome to come back to join my team anytime, okay? Especially if a certain orange someone doesn’t commit to any of her promises.”

I smile and respond, “Okay.”

Daisy slams the door.

“You won’t regret joining us, Kai,” Lance says and slaps my back. “We’re going to let Moria know you made your decision. Grab your things and meet us at your new home, 3A!”

“Sure!” I exclaim. And with my answer, we go our separate ways. I’ve been itching to read more of Emdos’ book anyway, so this is a good chance to go back and pack my things.
