After a long explanation of the system, I started to check my status.
I have to say that my stats are pretty accurate. I am not the strongest or most athletic guy, but as an engineering student, I am quite intelligent. It also seems that I have high vitality, which might explain why I rarely get sick. My senses being normal isn’t a surprise either since I don't need glasses and all my senses seem fine.
Next, I looked at my innate skills. I didn't feel any different, but just to confirm if my skills were real, I went to the kitchen, took a knife, and after a deep breath, I tried to cut the skin on my finger.
I couldn't do it. No one likes pain, and I am no different, but I really wanted to verify if the skills shown in the system were real.
Summoning all my determination, and feeling quite nervous, I cut my skin.
“Ouch, that hurts more than I thought.”
I went to the faucet and ran cold water over my finger, which helped alleviate the pain.
Then I tried to see if my wound started to heal but didn’t notice any difference. Maybe it's because {Improvement of Regeneration} is only at level 1 and it merely doubles my natural regeneration rate.
I tried to use my second skill, {Regeneration}, but realized I didn’t know how.
I wasn’t even sure if the system was real or just a dream or something else entirely.
Still, I needed to try using my skill. I thought about using it, but nothing happened. Then I focused on my wound, but all that did was remind me of the pain.
I began to regret cutting my finger. Now, all I wanted was to heal it again.
Stolen novel; please report.
Suddenly, I felt a tingle in my finger, and my wound started to heal very quickly.
I did it! But after a brief moment of celebration, I calmed down and started to evaluate the situation.
First, it seems I can heal my wounds very quickly. Upon reading the description of my skills again, I noticed that {Improvement of Regeneration} mentions that any kind of healing is enhanced. This could mean that my skill {Regeneration} is 100% more effective because of this, but I can't prove it yet.
I started trying to learn how to use {Regeneration} at will. I remembered that thinking about wanting to heal my wound activated the skill, so I thought about it again. After a moment of silence, I felt the same sensation as before. I think I discovered how to use it, but then a new, odd feeling appeared.
Even after I stopped using {Regeneration}, the feeling continued. After some thought, I hypothesized that it was my third skill, {Vitality Store}. The description says that when I'm not injured, vitality will be stored. Since I wasn't injured when I used {Regeneration}, the vitality seems to be stored.
There’s a way to prove it, though I don't like it. With a sigh, I took the knife again and cut my finger.
"It hurts less. Maybe it's psychological or something."
Anyway, I tried thinking about using the stored vitality to heal my finger. After a second, a sensation similar to {Regeneration} appeared, and my finger was perfect again. I instinctively felt that I didn't use all the stored vitality.
Wait, if {Improvement of Regeneration} enhances {Regeneration}, then {Vitality Store} might store the unused vitality, and when I use it, {Improvement of Regeneration} could enhance that vitality. That would explain the low use of vitality.
I mean, {Improvement of Regeneration} says it improves all kinds of healing processes, and the use of vitality could count as a healing process. Well, I think there’s a way to know for sure. I took my knife again.
After some painful experiments, I discovered two things. First, {Regeneration} tires me out. I was out of breath after using it six or seven times. Second, my theory was correct: storing vitality and then using it is more efficient than just using {Regeneration}. I'm not sure if it's a 100% improvement, but it’s definitely a better way to heal my injuries.
However, there are two disadvantages to this method. First, I can only store vitality when I’m not injured. Second, there’s a delay in using the stored vitality, unlike with {Regeneration}.
Just then, I heard the sound of the door.
