Extremely drunk on their false victory, humans let their guard down and became extremely arrogant, though it was wrong but was somewhat justified as there were no demon attacks for months. And their biggest weakness in this war was normal soldiers being unable to hurt demons, but that was solved after some gods after seeing humans exceed their expectations and survive this unfavorable war against demons, gave humans another ray of hope and enchanted their weapons with divine power in exchange for corpses of the demons they had slayed.

"The gateway to hell you say, what's that?" Kai asked curiously.

"Brat, please don't interrupt me," said the old man furiously and then murmured, "seriously kids nowadays have no manners."

"Ahem Ahem," did an old man adjusting his voice to make him sound more serious and dramatic. "Portal to Hell, Door to Underworld, Hell's Gate, Crack, or simply just portal. There are multiple names it goes by, but we call it THE GATEWAY TO HELL."

"Who are 'we'? And did you have to put hype so much while saying that name?" said a somewhat annoyed person in an annoying tone because he didn't sleep properly and it totally wasn't because he got scolded by an elderly for asking too many questions while they were talking as it was something only a child does not a grown man.

"You will know who 'we' are in the future and stop interrupting me, for God's sake. I am trying to tell you something and all your questions will be answered so don't worry," said the old man while trying to reassure Kai while missing the whole point then continuing "so now for God's sake, please don't interrupt me."

One could tell that the old man really enjoyed telling stories and was decent at it except when he made grammatical mistakes or didn't sound out his sentences properly and surely didn't like getting interrupted. Kai noticed that and didn't bother old man throughout the story again.

"Ahem so the gateway to hell, it is Ehhh, it's basically the portal from where the demons enter the human world. It's like a passage and can also be used to enter the demon realm."

"I no we humans until this day don't exactly know about it and how it was formed or how it works but we know it's exactly like its name suggests. It is the gateway to hell, the door to earth. If you are in hell you get the point."

"So humans after 1 year of the demon invasion not only survived but also took back all the territory that demons had stolen from and finally secured the only place that demons could enter form at that time." At the same time Kai was thinking what Oldman meant by at 'that time' "are there more places that demons can enter the earth from?" Old man continued, "It was a huge accomplishment for us weak humans to not only survive but to secure the only place demons could enter earth from,our ancestors thought that all they had to do now was just guard the gateway to hell which they did for long. There were many demon attacks but each demon army that came through the portal was weaker than the one before and while humans were growing stronger and stronger, demon armies were getting exponentially weaker and over time the human losses were reduced to nothing and attacks from demons had become less frequent which made humans believe that they defeated demon's main attacks force and what had remain was just the remnant for surviving demons."

"But that was not what everyone thought and above all the first sage was against this idea. He believed that what we had seen till now was nothing compared to demons true military power hence the idea that humans had won was discarded but demons didn't attack for whole three months which made humans rethink that they had destroyed demons, but since their leader, their hero the first sage was against this idea they couldn't do anything about it. So they thought of going inside the portal and seeing for themselves if there were any demons left but they couldn't possibly do this in the presence of the first sage hence they planned to send him away by spreading the rumor that an army of demons had attacked a town, making him believe that the rumor was true and it was demons plan to distract humans main force away from the gateway to hell and reclaim their enter point to earth. In that situation the first Sage could only go himself as he was faster and far far superior than others. While he goes to save the town under attack by demons the rest of the human army will fend off the demons coming from the portal."

Kai at that time had a great urge to say 'no no it's not portal it's THE GATEWAY TO HELL' as dramatically as the oldman did but resisted as he thought if he interrupted again he would surely get beaten thus resisted the urge because of this fear.

"Their plan worked and the first sage alone went to the rumored town under the demon's attack while the higher ranking in the army prepared to send a small troop of warriors consisting of the stronger men in the army, the ones who could easily take on dozens of demons themselves. The troop consisted of 12 members including their captain second only to the first sage. Though the difference between them was vast, he was still the second strongest in the human army. Just this was enough to make him be trusted by the soldiers and he was one who gave the idea that demons had been defeated and suggested that they go to hell to confirm it he was the perfect person to lead the first human exploration in hell."

"Did they succeed?" asked Kai being somewhat aware of the answer
