Chapter 6 Part 2

On my way back to the mansion, I thought of things that are most likely to happen in the future. Basically, I was overthinking things. Although there was one thing that stood out of all the scenarios I played in my head. If I somehow made Lea marry me, I could potentially inherit everything they own which would help me in terms of getting a higher status in the human world. With my royal phantasm, If I could somehow get close to a country's leader, then I'll be able to control the entire country from the shadows. I could use humanity as my army to attack the vampire king's army while I face the vampire king. If I play my cards right, then it's possible to make it happen. Though it sounds a bit unrealistic especially when I didn't factor in the hunters so the entire plan of getting close to a country's leader is just one of my fantasies.

After I left the mansion early morning, I spent the rest of my day looking for a job. It was quite a pain and nobody wanted to hire me. The first place I went to was an old pawn shop. I was lucky with the fact that the owner of the pawn shop was at the reception. But as soon as I said that I was looking for a job, the owner's face turn from a heartwarming smile to a frown before kicking me out.

The second place I went through was a fast food store. I handed in my resume and the manager told me that they'll get back to me later. Which usually doesn't happen based on my previous job hunt. The third place I went through was shoe repair and then a convenience store and so on. Basically, I went to a total of ten different places looking for a job. I also went job hunting online and am still waiting for a call. Perhaps I exaggerated too much on my resume...

I rang the bell on the side of the gate. It has a camera on it which made sense based on how the gate opens without anyone manually opening it. The maid at the front door that opened the door for us earlier was still there. She barely moved. Has she been standing there this whole time? That's quite a cruel job...

"Excuse me miss, have you been standing here since this morning?" I asked the maid.

"You needn't worry Master Nathan, this is a task given to me by the Master of the mansion. This is my way of showing my gratitude for the kindness they have shown me," The maid answered as she opened the door for me.

Master Nathan! I haven't heard Master before my name in years...Such a good feeling...

"Oh, ok. As long as you're happy with what you're doing then it's fine..."

As I entered the mansion for the second time, I was greeted by another maid. This one had crimson eyes indicating that she was a vampire.

"Please follow me to the living room, Master Nathan," The maid said.

Such a good feeling!

I followed the vampire maid to the second floor. We passed by a bunch of paintings which are most likely to be the Goldfrost family tree. I decided to ask the maid about her satisfaction with working in the mansion as we walked. She was surprised like someone who wasn't prepared to answer the question when getting called by a teacher. She mumbled in her words but I was able to make up what she said. So basically, to translate what she said, it was great. Everyone has been kind to her even the head of the family, Cole. I was going to ask her more questions but I didn't want to put her on the spot again. I at least know how to read the room once in a while.

When we arrived at the living room, Lea, Alph(Lucius), and the cashier that I made cry back in the bakery were all sitting on the couch having the time of their life. Should I even be here? I thought to myself. I felt out of place like I'm not supposed to disturb them. As I turned around to leave, Lea suddenly said "Look at you feeling out of place..." Before everyone looked at me and the room fell silent.

I need to act differently! I shouldn't act embarrassed as that would only satisfy her.

"Huh? I'm just going to the washroom. Maybe it's you feeling out of place, trying to fit in when you can't even understand what the word 'date' is..." I said, turning the table around.

"Tsk, it's you that-"

"Sorry to cut you off but I really need to go to the washroom... Oh wait, maybe I should piss here since you look like a toilet with that white dress of yours..."

Crap! I got carried away by my words... I hope that she doesn't ki-

Lea created a blood sword and leaped forward to cut me in half. Luckily I caught a glimpse of life and jumped backward. I ran as fast as I could away from her but she chased me down the hallway. She continues to murmur "I'll kill you" with bloodlust in her eyes. I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to say that... What I truly meant to say was that she actually looked cute but now she looked like a cheetah hunting her prey. I regret my decision. I regret saving face...

The moment I stopped running, her blade was coming at my face at tremendous speed. I barely dodged it and I got cut in my face. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. What I truly meant to say was that you looked good in your white dress... So plea-" I said before receiving a gorilla-strength punch in the stomach.

"Too late to say that now..." She said as I kneeled on the floor with bits of tears coming out of my eyes.

After everything settled down, we returned to the living room once more. Lea was fixing her hair, I was sitting on the furthest coach away from Lea as I use my blood arts to heal myself. The wound on my leg opened up from all the running so I ended up healing that as well. Everyone else was silent. Which was to be expected based on how I ruined everyone's mood.

"I'm gonna go ahead and sleep early, you guys could just have fun without me," Lea said as she got up, heading towards the door.

"Wait Lea, drink my blood really quick. It'll give you a good night's sleep," Nina the cashier from earlier said.

Nina is Luna. The girl I was betrothed with ten years ago. Although, I don't have any confirmation that she is Luna.

"I don't need it..." Lea debated.

"Just drink it!"

"Fine..."

Lea drank Nina's blood from her hands. This was the first time I'd seen someone drink someone else's blood. It's not a normal occurrence but based on everyone's reaction, it would seem to be normal here. Lea wiped her mouth before leaving the room. Was there really a need to drink her blood for a good night's sleep?" I asked myself. As Nina walked towards me, there was a thud sound that came outside the room. It sounded like someone collapsed. Could it be that Lea collapsed after drinking her blood?

"Now, you too... Drink my blood," Nina said to me.

"I think I'll pass."

"Rest assured, Nathan. It's best to just drink it, trust me," Alph said.

Trust you? There's no way I would trust you especially when nobody even looked to see what that noise was in the hallway.

Nina suddenly went to sit on my lap before leaning backwards and touching my face with her warm hands. Am I being seduced? Why is her body so soft? I wanted to move but at the same I didn't want to. My body wanted to hold Nina's seemingly warm body. I played different weird scenarios in my head, all of them being impure. I usually don't get seduced especially when I'm in my serious personality which I currently am not. Should I switch? But if I do then it's most likely that I'll say something bad which will worsen the situation even further, so it's probably best not to.

Nina softly touched my chin and my mouth slowly opened. My body won't listen to me! Or perhaps my body wanted to do it... I don't know. My mind was against every aspect of what was happening but my body had a life on its own. It wants Nina to continue doing what she's doing. Of course, there was no stopping the 207th bone especially when there's a cute girl literally on top of it.

"*Sigh, Nina use your blood on me as well once you're done with him. I can't bear watching him have lewd thoughts of my little sister," Alph said.

That confirms it! Nina is Luna!

"Eh? How'd you know he was lewd thoughts?" Nina asked before forcing me to drink her blood from her hand.

"Guys will always be guys..."

Her blood was delicious! I haven't drunk someone else's blood this good in so long. I couldn't stop drinking... I tried but my body moved on its own.

"You haven't drank good blood in years haven't you, Nathan?" Alph said.

After a few moments, my head began to feel fuzzy and I stopped drinking the blood. My body began to feel numb. And after a short while, I lost consciousness.

I opened my eyes and I was sitting on a couch. What the hell happened? I thought to myself. I looked around and Lea and Alph were also adjusting their eyes like they had also just woken up. There were snacks on the table but I was confused as to what happened.

"Nina, did you use your royal phantasm?" Lea asked the cashier named Nina.

"I did..." She answered.

"My body feels heavy... When did you use it? And what happened that you had to use it?" Lea continues to ask questions.

"Nothing major so don't worry about it. How about we just catch up?"

"If you say so... Anyways, when the hell did you get here, Nathan?" Lea asked turning in my direction.

The last thing I remember was following the vampire maid toward the living room. After that, everything is just fuzzy.

"Who knows... I was just sitting here all of a sudden."

Based on how I don't remember anything after what happened when I reached the living room. It became clear to me that Nina was a royal blood and her royal phantasm affects people's memories. Why did she use it? Did something bad occur? How come Lea was simply willing to dismiss it? Despite all that. I still need confirmation that Nina was Luna.

"Don't worry about it, Nathan. If my little sister used her royal phantasm then that means that something occurred that she didn't want to happen..." Alph said.

That confirms it! Nina is Luna!

The girls continued to talk to one another while I talked to Alph. I heard from Alph that Nina's royal phantasm allows her to remove certain memories. Alph doesn't know how she does it as Nina wants to keep it to herself. She never tells what happened to the memories she removes which was understandable considering that you don't want people to remember what it was. I also heard from Alph that his royal phantasm allows him to nullify any type of royal phantasm used on him, hence why he was able to move when I used my royal phantasm on him earlier in our fight.

I was quite hesitant whether to share my royal phantasm with him but considering that he shared theirs then it's only proper to share mine. Royals would usually keep their royal phantasm a secret but he probably thought that there was no one else to trust other than us which I respected. I told him that my royal phantasm makes people unable to move. I didn't tell him that I could control them as I don't fully trust them yet...

When I made eye contact with Nina so I could ask her stuff, she averted her eyes to look at the floor and had a look on her face like I did something bad.

"What did you do this time, Nathan?" Lea asked.

"How am I supposed to know... "

The entire 'catch up' thing went by pretty fast. It felt like I did something wrong but whenever I asked Nina, she would say 'You did nothing wrong' which was contradicting the look on her face. It wasn't fun and I'm sure Alph and Lea noticed too. In the end, it ended earlier than expected.

I decided to hit the restroom before heading home. Since Lea insisted, she was the one that cleaned up everything. Everyone tried to help but Lea got pissed that she would do the cleaning so we just left her alone. In the end, I wasn't able to talk to Luna who is now Nina. First, I made Mary hate me for a few days, now it was Nina/Luna. Just how many more people would I make to make them hate me.

"*Sigh, I messed up big time again..." I said to myself.

As I headed towards the front door, I stumbled upon Nina in the hallway. She tried to avoid me which hurt my feelings a little but I stopped her by asking if the two of us could talk. She looked like she didn't want to but I was curious as to what happened before waking up at the couch. Plus I also wanted to apologize for all the things I did.

She sighed before giving a hand signal to come to her. I thought she was going to slap me but I was wrong. She turned around and walked away. Which ultimately led to slight chest pain. After a few steps, she stopped and glanced at me. She wants me to follow her? I thought. She could've just said so. I hurried behind her and she continued walking. I guess she does want me to follow her.

Neither of us said a word as we walked through the hallway. I assumed that she was taking me somewhere but it's hard to know for sure if she doesn't say anything. But eventually, we arrived at a balcony. I assumed that the balcony was the place she was taking me. The view was outstanding as you could see the night lights and the high buildings downtown. Though the field surrounding the mansion was too dark to see anything which complemented the downtown view.

"I took my brother here once... He was a bit uninterested with the view but you don't seem to have the same reaction as him, " Nina said.

"What was his reaction then?" I asked.

"The look of someone who is constantly thinking about work....I guess part of the reason why he became like that was because he had to."

It's indeed hard to appreciate the view when you have something else in mind. But the only people who have luxuries of not worrying about anything are kids. Or so I thought before Nina proved me wrong. The only reason I didn't have the same reaction as his brother was because I didn't have homework for the weekend which is a luxury considering that I take AP classes.

"Yeah... Your brother must be constantly thinking of a way to keep you safe considering that you're the only family member he has. I guess he's a good brother."

"Yes, he truly is..."

There was a brief moment of silence. I thought of the right things to say but my head was empty. I didn't want to say something that would ruin the mood like what I always do. How is it even possible for someone to know the right things to say? Do they have like a word generator in their head that just allows them to say the right things? I have a human classmate like that and many people fell in love with that girl. And as someone that has experienced their ability, I could easily say that a guy's mind would definitely she's the one! She understands me! She sees me for who I am! It's a terrifying ability especially when used with delinquent guys. I decided to call that unique ability 'talk no jutsu' as a reference to a certain animation many loves.

"You know... My brother and I thought we were the only royal vampires that survived the executions ten years ago." Nina said, taking away my attention as I spaced out. "But when I saw you at the bakery, I was surprised as I wasn't expecting to see a childhood friend. I thought that you simply looked like him so I disregarded it so I could not be given hope the same way I felt with my parent... But I was really glad it turned out to be you Zain, I really am. Though some aspects of you have changed, it seems that you're still the Zain I know..."

To be honest, I was surprised when with what Nina said. What aspects of me have changed and what is still the same? I thought that I have matured over the years. I'm sure everyone would be different from their ten years self as they experience more in life. The more you grow older the more you realize the harsh reality of both worlds. Maybe I'm just acting like I've matured but on the inside, I haven't...

"Well, I'm glad as well that you two are alive... To be perfectly honest, I didn't recognize you at the bakery. You gave me a sense of guilt when tears came down your eyes. And my friends teased me about it. When Lea suddenly appeared at my apartment door later that night, I was confused. Then she attacked me which left me even more confused as to what I did wrong-"

"Lea came after you last night!?"

"I thought you knew..."

"I told her that you did nothing wrong. *Sigh, I'll talk to her after this."

Sorry about that Lea. But not really.

"...If you don't mind me asking. I-"

"You want to know what happened too, don't you? How many times do I have to tell everyone that nothing bad happened... I removed everyone's memories because I...I uh... flashed everyone. Yeah. That's what happened. Which is why I removed everyone's memories." Nina said while looking away suspiciously.

Then why'd you remove Lea's memories too? Both of you are girls so it's fine if she saw your panties...

"Your face throughout the entire thing says otherwise... Plus if that's what really happened then there's no need for you to remove Lea's memories since both of you are girls."

She was shocked and then stared at the floor before murmuring "I didn't think of that."

I heard that!

"*Sigh, fine... If it's something you want to keep to yourself then go ahead. But I got the feeling that I did something bad so whatever I did or said... I'm sorry. I could be such an asshole at times and I'm aware of that. Been trying to fix it for these past few years."

I began to walk back to the main hallway as it was getting late. I still had school the next day and getting a good night's sleep is important as it makes a difference in terms of how brain cells learn quickly. As someone who gets good grades at everything except English, I can confidently say that what I just said is true. But before I left the balcony, Nina said one last thing. "You're a nice individual, Zai- Sorry, I'm still not used to your human name. It's Nathan right?"

"Yeah... And you are too, Luna..."

"Safe travel and goodnight!"

"Goodnight!"

As I walked back to my apartment building, I continued to reflect on our conversation, especially the last part. I continuously repeated in my head how Nina said in such a warm and soft voice 'You're a nice individual..."

"Not really..." I murmured to myself as I walked down the dark alleyway.
