I've been writing this story for quite some time. About 10 years I guess (maybe more) it has been edited and re-edited, and I felt I was trapped in a spiral of trying to make it perfect, at the same time I was forgetting the most important thing, I needed people to read it! I did it once, on other websites and on my own blog, seeing that it wasn't at all popular I deleted everything and started over again. And here I am, for the third or fourth time.

Väinämöinen, or Väino, is a 54-year-old Finnish craftsman and alchemist. Knows some basic Thaumaturgy. He once was Völundr's apprentice. Now, he deals with the day-to-day management of the family business. Dollmaking.
He builds human-size ball-jointed dolls. They are basically automatons with artificial life and intelligence. Depending on the level of customization they can be mistaken for real humans. Unfortunately, most dolls are used either as labor, for war, or some other not-so-family-friendly means.
To be frank, he and Ilmatar are my favorite characters even though they aren't part of the main cast.

Ilmatar looks like a teenage girl, with fiery orange hair, gray eyes, and skin as pale as porcelain which is basically the material she's made of, a mix of porcelain and clay.
She's a human-size ball-jointed doll, she's 4.9ft or 1.49m tall. Väino's pet project that he now considers his own daughter. She's the closest to a human personalitywise he has created.
She still acts like a regular doll, whenever she's resting, she simply stays immobile. Not even blinking. Otherwise, her personality is a bit obnoxious sometimes, but she's funny and very kind.
She also works as Väino's dollmaking assistant and a very delicate artisan.
