Chapter 5: Loss of Friends

Amory pulled Likkrus to the side. "How the hell does this girl know my name?" He whispered into his ear. The both of them silently argued as she stared.

"Again, my name's Aase and you don't need to whisper, you know." She said to both of them. Amory turned towards her with his hand on his lips. "Shhh, please. You're hurting my head."

She became dumbfounded by his response. "Who the hell do you thi-." Her body gave in before she could get off the floor. Amory sighed and lent a handout, but she quickly slapped it away. "Ok Aase, you said you were looking for me. Why is that? Are you a stalker or something?" He said while rubbing his hand.

"Don't be an idiot. But to think about it, I don't know why I was looking for you."She said with a toned-down voice. Amory gave out a loud sigh. "How the hell do you not know why you're looking for me, you idiot."

It felt as if the wind gave off a sigh next. "Aase you idiot, you were just supposed to report back after seeing him," a brilliant beam struck down between them. A man in a blue tuxedo came out of the beam. "Hello, sir, my deepest apologies for my subordinate." He bowed and said towards Amory.

"Who the hell are you people?" He blurted out. "Ah, yes, my apologies. I'm Gabriel an arch angel. That is Aase an angel. I sent her here to report back about you. But we should really be going now." he said while walking over to Aase and holding her shoulder.

"Wait, why did you come here for me?" He hurriedly said. "You will know in time sir, Goodbye for now." He said as the beam took both of them away.

"Likkrus, what the hell is going on with my life?" He turned around with a dead face. Likkrus ignored Amory as he tended toward the egg. "Hmmm, seems this young one's close to hatching," he whispered.

Everett was still in the cave thinking while his mind joined the stars. "How the hell did that giant of an orc just disappear?".

He abruptly set his hand on the sword handle. A dark figure dashed towards Everett. Before he could even pull out his blade, the figure reached the exit of the cave. A cloaked woman stood by the exit. "So you two were the ones who killed the orc". She pulled out an orb from the cloak pocket. "I've found the culprits. Be ready to attack".

She dashes off, saying nothing else. "HEY, WHO THE HELL ARE YOU!!." He shouted while the image slowly kicked in. He ran out the cave, following the path towards the cave.

Galloping was heard coming from outside the cave. "The hell is that?". Amory turned to a tired Everett gasping for air.

"Amory, you have to leave," he said as knights rushed into the cave. Everett pulled out his sword and stood in front of Amory. "I said run, they're here to kill you."A frightened expression became of his face. "What about you? I can fight, I swear."

Everett pushed Amory back and anger filled his face, "I said leave you, fool!". Amory got off the floor and face Everett eye to eye "Don't die you bastard."

He turned towards the glowing phoenix egg. He picked it up and ran for the exit, trying not to get killed by a knight. A few knights followed him as he ran through the forest, scratching his arms from tree branches. He could hear Everett fighting while his sword clashed.

Tears wanted to surge out of his eyes, but he kept it in, trying to focus. He ran until he arrived at a deep ravine. If he jumped it was death, but if he stayed there, it was also death. His eyes saw the knights and jumped off to the bottom of the ravine.

*

Hours passed as Amory's lifeless body laid there while the phoenix egg glowed next to him. The egg suddenly cracked, making the sound echo throughout the ravine. A small floating light was in the distance, moving closer toward Amory.

It moved faster as it got closer until it dashed into his chest, waking him up instantly. Every sound of his breath echoed as it gradually got softer. His mind quickly thought of the phoenix egg and searched for it.

It cracked once more, as if it was hatching. He got off the floor and saw dry sticks in the distance as he turned his head upwards to see the darkening sky.

"I better make a fire before it becomes impossible to see in here," he mumbled to himself. He set the sticks together and set his hand in front the sticks. "Focus, Amory, you can do this. " His hand flickered the more he concentrated. A bright spark lit the sticks, making his whole body jump with excitement.

"I, I, I MANAGED TO USE IT!!" He cheered with his arms in the air. He set the egg beside him and watched into the fire. "Everett, I will find you. Just stay alive for me. If I manage to control my power, ill kill all those knights," He said to himself with a grim expression.

He turned towards the egg and touched it, making it gleam. "Better find a weapon to protect you, little one. I'll get stronger and make sure no one hurts you as they did, Everett."
