Louis could remember the promise he made to Lia; the day before disaster struck.

“I will find a way to solve this issue. I will make sure everything has a good ending. You will be safe, I promise.”

Though Louis didn’t say any of his crying thoughts out loud, Lia knew exactly what he was thinking. After all, Louis was a very caring person, he was predictable in situations like this.

Lia’s strength was leaving her body and she could feel death itself approaching. Her vision was blurring and her thoughts were fading into nothing.

Using these last moments of life, she was able to smile one last time, gently touching the face of her bestest friend. She struggled to speak one final time.

“...It’s okay….I’m not mad at you. You did your best...Louis….”

Her body went limp. Lia’s warmth turned to coldness.

She was dead.

The erriness of silence. The despair of loss. The weight of failure.
