009: Out in the Wilderness

The young dragons let out excited roars, rushing towards the water, completely oblivious to the threatening gazes of the other predators circling around.

They had no reason to fear. While their black dragon mother was still alive, these predators, even the fiercest ones, were merely their potential meals.

Why would a lion be afraid of a sheep?

Ghalon and Blackscales looked at the other predators with disdain, forgetting one crucial point: aside from their bloodline and identity, the true combat power of young dragons wasn't significantly stronger than these powerful predators.

Caesar remembered.

And it seemed that these creatures remembered too. They were smarter than expected, forming an alliance and agreeing without words that they wouldn't allow the dragons to go unchallenged.

In the natural world, when the number of predators exceeds the available food, the predators either starve or eliminate the weaker ones until a balance is restored.

Clearly, the number of predators surrounding the waterhole had reached saturation, and they couldn't accommodate any more carnivores.

In this area, no predator could stand against three young dragons alone. If they wanted to avoid being driven off, they had no choice but to unite and confront the black dragon hatchlings.

For survival, they had to kill the three hatchlings, even if it meant driving them away and getting rid of the new competitors.

"A bit troublesome."

Caesar had mixed feelings. Ghalon and Blackscales were too arrogant, occupying the central position of the waterhole, which provoked the displeasure of the other predators and led to the worst possible outcome.

They were true dragons, but at this age, the black dragon hatchlings might not be a match for such a horde of predators.

A battle was inevitable.

However, Caesar didn't genuinely blame his siblings for their recklessness. After all, the instinct to quench their thirst was irresistible for black dragons, just like eating and excreting were basic needs for humans. Even he felt an urge to charge into the water.

But he could control this urge. What annoyed Caesar was the slow reaction of the two hatchlings.

While the other predators sensed the threat and circled around, unwilling to leave this food-rich land, Ghalon and Blackscales were still playing in the mud, unaware of the danger.

"I guess you both must have awakened new dragon talents again, thinking that these carnivores can't possibly pose a threat to dragons."

Caesar, with a mischievous smile, suddenly decided not to remind them. The jungle wasn't a game, and the two hatchlings must learn a lesson the hard way.

Fortunately, the young dragons were tough creatures. Although they fell into an ambush and were unable to fly due to the sticky slime sprayed by the scorpion-tailed lion, they still fought back with their sharp claws, sturdy scales, and the viciousness that ran in the blood of black dragons.

However, the opponents were too numerous. Dealing with the scorpion-tailed lion and the terror wolves alone was already a challenge, let alone the hyenas and jaguars lurking nearby, occasionally joining in the fight.

As time went on, the hatchlings without flight capabilities would inevitably be worn down.

"Well, besides the conventional attacks, that tail seems quite sharp, with a deadly risk if it gets hit."

Caesar observed the battlefield and muttered, analyzing the attack patterns and the strength of these unfamiliar creatures that he had never seen before.

Creatures like the scorpion-tailed lion and the terror wolves had surpassed ordinary beasts and reached the level of formidable predators in this world.

"Ortolonzo!"

Ghalon slapped the terror wolf that had bitten its tail, knocking it to the ground, then roared loudly, calling for reinforcements.

"They can't fly using magic? And they're still restricted by the slime? That means the slime of the scorpion-tailed lion has the ability to block magical transmission."

Caesar made a note of his deduction and then turned his gaze to the pack of terror wolves. "Their attacks are organized, with a reasonable division of labor and an evident social structure. And their leader doesn't seem lacking in intelligence."

"Caesar!" Blackscales, who was flipped over by the agile scorpion-tailed lion, roared loudly.

"The hyenas and jaguars have similar sizes to their counterparts on Earth and don't display extraordinary strength. They probably can't pose too much of a threat to the hatchlings, which is why they're staying behind."

Caesar paid no attention and continued to observe the battlefield, reorganizing the information, making sure there were no loopholes, and murmured quietly to himself, "Call Dad, and he'll come to help you."

He gently flapped his dragon wings, moving swiftly and accelerating gradually until he reached top speed, crashing into the pack of wolves.

"Boom, boom, boom."

As a genetically enhanced black dragon, Caesar's strength far exceeded his siblings. Like a heavily armored tank, he crashed into the wolves, overturning the fourth terror wolf before finally coming to a stop.

"Kill the alpha wolf first!"

Caesar roared, pushing the bloody, sticky corpse of the wolf that had stuck to him away and accelerating again, charging towards the heavily guarded alpha terror wolf.
