As Arthe chased after the inky black cloud with Cadfael, he examined some of the loot he had managed to gather from the Boggarts. Most of it was junk, stuff like broken jugs and useless rocks, but among those were some nice daggers and even a ring.
"hmm this ring must have been dropped by the warlock, I don't see why he would have it though as it doesn't appear to grant any good Mana regeneration boosts. Oh well it's mine now." Arthe thought, after putting the ring on.

Arthe and Cadfael chased the mysterious cloud deep into the maze of corridors on the fourth floor, eventually they cornered it in a darkened room that smelt of decay. As they looked on the cloud began to change, growing darker and more violent. It settled on a skeletal corpse lying in the corner, from inside the cloud dark mutterings and the creaking of bones could be heard.
The cloud began to thin and Cadfael seemed to think it was dissipating but Arthe was not so sure. He could feel something cold and evil emanating from the skeletal remains. As they watched it became apparent that the cloud wasn't vanishing, instead it was sinking into the corpse and as it did so the body began to shake and quiver.
"Barrow-Wight! Draw your weapons and steel yourself! That foul cloud must have been the soul of an Barrow-Wight, it's reanimating that corpse." Cadfael shouted.
"Great more creepy monsters, the fun never stops with you does it Cadfael. What level do you reckon that thing is?"
"Probably around level 60 if my previous encounters with it's kind are any judge." Cadfael responded.
"okay, then i should be just about able to handle it with my boosted stats and your buffs. If you can keep an eye on my health and feel free to jump in if it looks like I'm about to get slaughtered, I won't mind." Arthe then hurriedly took off his knapsack so he could move more freely and charged at the undead creature with shield held high.
Hoping to cause significant damage before the fiend was fully reanimated Arthe swung his blade hard at its spine, but just before it hit the sword was deflected by some kind of barrier. Arthe swung again and again but each time his weapon was repelled just before it hit.
"Cadfael, I can't hit the thing, what's happening? Can you do something?" Arthe cried out, a little hysterically because this was his first encounter with a monster of this magnitude.
"It must be using some sort of dark magic to repel your sword, here try this. Divine Armaments!" After Cadfael activated this skill both his and Arthe's weapons and armor became coated with a golden light.
"What does this light do Cadfael, I'm not a big fan of surprises remember"
"It makes your armor more resistant to dark magic and physical attacks, plus your weapon becomes more effective at killing unholy or demonic opponents. It will ignore some of their armor as well as cut through most dark magic." Cadfael replied.
With this new buff Arthe charged at the Wight for a second time, he swung at the creature again. Even though he swung a bit more gently this time, in fear of getting repelled again, the sword struck bone. As it did the creature shrieked in fury and threw a ball of inky black lightning at him.
It struck Arthe full on the front of his chest, knocking him backwards and causing him to grunt slightly in pain.
-100HP
-reduced by 50HP because of resistances and another 60HP because of armor buff.
"seriously, that attack would have done 200 plus damage! This guy is pretty tough for someone without any sort of soft tissue or even a brain." Arthe thought whilst readying himself for another go at the monster.
He set himself behind his shield and advanced toward his opponent, at a slower but more implacable pace this time. As he drew near Cadfael healed his injuries and cast all of his available buffs on Arthe as well.
Arthe cast his own buff skills and then he suddenly dashed at the Wight who was about to cast two more of the black lightning globes at him. Arthe sidestepped to the right, dodging the first magic ball, then he sprinted at full power and slammed into the skeleton knocking both of them to the floor. Arthe was prepared for the fall and so he recovered first; he used his shield bash skill to hammer the Wight's skull into the floor, cracking it slightly, then he swung his blade at the creatures torso.

Crack, Snap.
Two of the fiend ribs broke off and fell to the ground, Arthe swung again at the beast. Only this time it intercepted the strike with a hastily summoned weapon of its own. The summoned blade appeared to be made of green mist and it glowed weakly with unholy fire. Dripping from the tip was pale green liquid that hissed and burned the floor when it fell.
"Acid! That thing can summon an acid blade! WTH, how can my iron sword stand up to that!" Arthe exclaimed in a mix of fear and anger.
"Don't worry my Divine Armaments buff should protect your gear from that sword, at least for a short time. You'll just have to finish killing the evil creature before the buff wears off!" Cadfael called to him.
Feeling slightly reassured by this, Arthe clashed with the Wight for a third time. This time he continuously tried to sever the wrist of the arm holding the blade. The Wight was strong but not very skilled with the sword and so Arthe managed to strike his target a number of times. Eventually the hand fell to the ground and the evil blade evaporated, leaving behind nothing but a black stain on the floor.
"Hsssss, don't think you have won just yet, I shall sever your souls from your bodies, before me all of the living are as dust." the Wight spoke through it's lip less mouth.
"Not today you won't monster. In the name of Freya we shall smite you down and destroy your evil spirit for all eternity!" Arthe responded, he felt exactly like one of the heroes from the fantasy novels popular in the past.
Having said their final words to each other, Arthe and the Wight closed in combat once more. The Wight now carried a staff of condensed black mist in both hands that spat globules of black goo at Arthe. Whatever they hit decayed in seconds and became dust. Somehow managing to dodge all of them Arthe closed in on the Wight, he swung his shield at the creature and when it ducked he then delivered a vast overhand blow to the top of the fiends skull.
The skull, which was already weakened from Arthe's earlier blow, shattered and the Wight let out an Unholy scream of rage and despair. As Arthe drew back from the corpse, the black cloud once again began to gather over the body.
"Purifying Light!" Cadfael activated another skill which sent a beam of bright white light through the cloud, burning some of it away. The rest began to flee the room but Arthe had predicted this and had positioned himself in front of the doorway.
He ducked under the cloud and then thrust upwards with his sword, using all his strength Arthe drove his weapon deep into the inky mass whereupon the cloud let out an enormous shout before collapsing in on itself and imploding.

"Nice, gained 6 levels from killing that monster. Have to say though that i hope there aren't too many more of those guys in this dungeon. I have a severe phobia of getting melted by acid or decaying into dust like an Indiana Jones villain." Arthe said as he sat down against the wall to take a rest.

"Hmm, can't use it yet haven't got anywhere near enough Mana or faith, but i expected it to be a high level ability when i thought it up. Like how the system added a healing factor to it, didn't think of that. Must be because it's the kind of ability a high priest or a super high level paladin would have." Arthe mused after looking at his new skill.
"It's excellent that you have acquired a new ability for slaying that fiend Sir Arthe, may i inquire as to what it does." Cadfael asked a bit hesitantly.
"Sure, have a look. Show Skill Window to Cadfael!" Arthe replied.
