Chapter 36: Monster.
"Wait a minute. I need to," Kalon yelled as Roah rushed towards him with the red coloured sword shining from the sunlight beaming in from the windows. But his protests fell upon death ears as she charged him regardless.
Kalon barely had time to put the sword up to his face before her sword clanged against the metal of his.
"Woah, You're pretty strong after all. Who would have thought that you would be able to resist my attacks like this." Roah said as she looked down at Kalon, who hadn't moved even an inch. He had followed Ranwalds instructions and dug his feet into the ground, although his guard wasn't as steady since he was only using a single word.
"Yeah, Well, I have been practising since I was eight." Kalon bragged with a smile as he blocked her attack without breaking a sweat.
"Well, it looks like I have to tell you about Qi now, don't I? So how about I show you instead?" Roah smiled once again before pulling back her sword and spinning on her hind leg as a blue glow began to emit from her hands which soon covered the blade. She twisted her hips and struck Kalon's sword once more.
Kalon felt the hilt of his sword vibrate slightly as the shock from her attack run through it. His legs became weak as he tried to hold his ground, but the floor seemed to slip out from beneath him, and as the power from her attack transferred into Kalon's body, he began to slide backwards before falling forward as he tried to counterbalance his body.
He landed with his left hand on the ground to support him as he looked up at Roah, who was no longer smiling.
"What? I meant to disarm you, but not only did you manage to keep hold of your sword, but you actually withstood the power of my strike? What kind of monster are you?" Roah asked with a frown as she looked down at him.
"I'm not a monster!" Kalon suddenly shouted as he remembered what his mother used to call him since his father was a vampire. But as he did so, Roah took a step back.
"I'm sorry I forgot that your parents- Well. Do you want to continue?" She asked as she watched him stand up once again.
"Sorry, Do you mind if I try something different, though?" Kalon apologised for his sudden outburst and calmed himself before asking.
"Sure, what is it?" Roah asked, curious as to what he was thinking.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
"Well, it's just that I usually used two swords when sparring with my teacher back home. Is there a spare sword that I can use?" Kalon asked.
"Sorry, I can only sustain one sword using my power." Roah apologised as she looked down at the sword in her hand when suddenly a voice called out from the crowd.
"Hey kid, You can use this, but you have to make sure that you kick her ass for me, okay?" A man with long dark hair and blue eyes walked from the entrance to the room with a black metallic sword by his side.
Upon seeing Kalon, he unsheathed the blade and walked closer before handing it to him with a smile before looking over at Roah with a lustful grin.
"Land? What are you doing here, you scoundrel?" Roah asked, shocked by the fact that the man had handed his sword to Kalon.
"Well, I heard that a certain someone had gotten permission to test the kid the guards found out in the snow. I wanted to see what he's got. Is there anything wrong with that?" The man said with a smile as Kalon took the dark blade from his hands.
"Thank you, Sir. I appreciate your kindness." Kalon put his hands together while still holding the swords and dipped his head slightly, how Roah had told him to pay respect to someone stronger than him.
"Haha, You aren't supposed to pay your respects while holding a weapon. Save that for after the battle, okay?" The man asked and then went to sit down next to the guards that were all spectating.
"Fine, whatever?" Roah sighed and then looked over at Kalon, who was now holding two swords by his side. However, the one Landas had given to him was slightly longer and much heavier than his own
"Are you ready?" Roah asked before preparing herself for another attack. She bent her knees slightly and puffed out her chest before raising the sword in front of her face.
"Yeah, I am." Kalon prepared the guard and then put the two blades together.
Before he could even finish, Roah rushed towards him yet again and struck the middle of his sword. This time with much more power than she did previously.
Kalon couldn't hold up to the force of the blow, and his feet gave out before he rolled over onto his back and was sent tumbling across the ground. But as he was moving along the floor, he miraculously found his footing and managed to stand once again.
'That was strong. She really isn't playing around this time. Maybe I should do the same?' He thought before looking up to see that she was already rushing towards him again.
Kalon stood up all the way and swung the longer of the two swords towards her with as much strength as he could muster. A loud clang rang out through the room as his sword collided with hers. Roah stopped in her tracks and struggled to hold onto her sword as her hands began to tremble.
"That was a pretty good attack, and I can see you are well trained." Roah complemented Kalon as she stood with her sword pressed against him.
'What is with this kid? How is he so strong? I used most of my strength to hit him, yet he managed to get up and attack me right after.' She thought as her hands were still shaking from the attack that she just received.
"Haha, Don't tell me that a child is going to defeat the great Roah Magnus?" Landas mocked Roah from the sideline and received a few laughs from the other spectators.
"What are you talking about? I can end this whenever I want to. I am just sparring with him. I have to test his strength, that's all." Roah asked, outraged by his laughter.
"I don't know. It looks like he has your strength matched." Landas smiled as he could see he was getting to her.
"Fine, I will show you," Roah said before suddenly she vanished from Kalon's line of sight.
"What!? Where did you go?" Kalon asked for a moment before feeling a sharp pain in his neck as his eyes began to close. Kalon fell to the floor, but he collapsed slowly as his body seemed to float before his head hit the ground.
"See, I told you so," Roah exclaimed as she looked at Landas as though she was proud of herself before turning to look at Kalon laying on the floor and then rushing over to be by his side.
