Chpt. 13) Retribution (part 2)

Five minutes ago …

***

The constant waves of electricity racked my body as that bastard Brineck electrocuted me over and over. Then the alarm sounded, and the bastard left me hanging in the room of depravity he made. I gritted my teeth and mumbled, “What took you so long?”

Sparky materialized out of nowhere before me and said, “It took longer than expected to get past their firewalls and to find the emergency shut-off for their engines.”

I sighed and shrugged, “Well, at least you got it done before he could use the knife on me.” Sparky went silent at that, seeming to ignore me while she tapped something into her suite controls. I squinted at her and asked, “You got it done before he could use the knife, right?”

She remained quiet for a bit longer as she worked, and a mechanical arm with a small cutter popped over her shoulder and began cutting through my restraints quickly as she said, “Consider it revenge for never calling me by my name.”

“You bit—” My curse was cut short as Sparky freed me, and I fell to the ground, unable to get complete control of my limbs in time. I landed with a dull thud and stumbled to my feet, only to get my clothes thrown in my face.

“Hurry,” Sparky said, “We don’t have that much time.”

I quickly took off the spoiled shit sack the bastard made me wear, and I put on my clothes within a minute. I patted my pockets and felt none of my weapons, “Where are my weapons?”

“They were put in a safe I couldn’t get into,” Sparky explained, “but I did bring you this.” she then pulled out a small cylinder six inches in length and about two inches wide. Handing it to me, I took it and examined it for a second before lines of text scrolled across my vision, followed by the words.

CONNECTION ESTABLISHED

WEAPON DESIGNATION SCY-X3

NAME WEAPON YES/NO?

I stared at the prompt for a moment and asked, “The fuck is this thing?”

Sparky rolled her eyes and said, “It’s a multipurpose close-range weapon. Need to kill something? There’s a function for that.”

“And the need to name the weapon?” I asked curiously, examining the weapon.

Sparky shrugged, “I have a lot of weapons and tech. Gotta keep track of them when you have fifty versions of the same device.”

“Huh,” I said, “You’ve got a good point.” I then selected ‘Yes.’

YES

NAME: ORCUS

Once I entered the name, a string of text filled my vision again before disappearing. Followed by a screen allowing me to select my weapon of choice.

A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

WEAPONS:

SCYTHE

SWORD

SYCLE

HAMMER

KNIFE

KNUCKLES

CUSTOM

I raised an eyebrow and selected ‘Custom.’ Which prompted another screen to appear, allowing me to customize everything about my new weapon. I quickly put in the specifications at the speed of thought.

HANDLE LENGTH: 6FT

NUMBER OF BLADES: 2

BLADE LENGTH: 3FT

BLADE TYPE: CURVED, SINGLE EDGE

BLADE ANGLE: 90 DEGREES

BLADE POSITION: OPPOSITES

Instantly, the small cylinder began to shift and grow in my hand until it was a six-foot-long pole with two handles on either side of the pole two feet apart and two three-foot scythe blades made of ionized plasma on either end of the weapon. It resembled a double-bladed scythe, and I couldn’t wait to test it out. I looked around the room we were trapped in, and a smile spread across my face as I got an idea.

I walked up to the first person in a cage and spun my weapon at odd angles, slicing apart the cage until the woman inside was free and uninjured. The blades cut through the steel cage as though it were made of soft butter, and I grinned at the weapon, exclaiming, “This is going to be fun!” I then ran down the room, cutting and slicing at the cages as I spun the weapon around my body and hands, a gleeful grin on my face as I did so.

I got to the door of the room once the cages full of women were all freed. I cheerfully exclaimed, “Well, Sparky. Let’s open this door and kill a whole lot of fucktards,” as I turned to face her. Sparky nodded and glanced at the door control. The door opened with a soft hiss, revealing two men standing guard outside as five more men running by stopped in surprise.

“What the!?” one of the men guarding the door exclaimed and quickly collected himself as he aimed his rifle at me.

My blades flashed, slicing the weapon in half, followed by the man’s legs and his head. The rest of the men were quick to act, pulling out pistols and another rifle from the other man on guard duty. I quickly sliced the other guard vertically in half as I charged and impaled two men with a spin of my blades, cutting off the leg of another man as my blades freed themselves. The last two men managed to fire off two shots that missed me right in front of them before two more shots came from within the room I just left, impacting the men between the eyes.

I looked back to see Sparky with four cybernetic arms attached to her back, each with a blaster pistol. I then turned my attention down to the man missing his leg and screaming in pain, and the dead man still on the end of my weapon. I watched as my blade slowly cut through the dead man until it was free from his body, letting the corps drop to the ground with a soft thump. I then spun my blade again and cut the screaming man’s head off.

Giggling, I said, “I love this blade. It’s a great present. And I see you got a bit of inspiration from Jin.”

Sparky nodded, “Yes, his knowledge of biochemistry, plus Dr.Whisper’s knowledge of biology, was invaluable in the construction of these additions. What are we going to do about the captives?”

I looked at the women in the room and noted that some of them looked as though they were still alive. “We put them in a safe place, then bring them to Dr.Whisper to take care of before we drop them off on a planet with a decent hospital.”

Sparky blinked at that and sounded surprised when she asked, “Really? That doesn’t sound like you.”

I looked down the ship’s red corridor and said, “Let’s just say I’ve been in their position before. If they don’t get help now, they will never be well again. So I’ll provide that for a time. And if they want to die, I’ll provide that as well.”

Sparky looked surprised by my answer again and just nodded, waving for the women to stay there. Then she pulled out two little droids that scuttled out of her hands and hid. Then she left the room and closed the door behind her, locking it. “We have about three minutes before Brineck gets to the bridge and figures out what’s happening. We should move,” Sparky said once she finished.

I trembled unconsciously at the mention of the bastard before quickly getting myself under control and nodding, “Then let’s go and take over a fleet.”
