"The legend system was created by the gods in order to facilitate rewarding mortals who carried their will. When a mortal completes a legend, they get rewarded a number of points based on the overall difficulty of said legend. The mortal can then spend those points to improve their body, mind and soul.
Additionally, when a mortal uses an item while completing a sufficient number of complex legends, said item also accumulates points until they obtain something called legendary status. Legendary items are significantly more useful than regular items, a legendary sword being significantly tougher and sharper than a regular one. When an item obtains a sufficiently high legendary status, it usually grants their wielder powerful abilities.
Both the legends and the legendary status of items are split into tiers. The tiers for legends are, from worst to best: F, D, C, B, A and the mythical S tier, which is only encountered in fiction, based on how difficult the conditions of the legend are to accomplish. The tier of the legendary status of an item changes based on the number and tier of legends completed by it’s wielder..."

Pov: Bryce Pozen
"Mister Bryce, is it true that you fled before the last battle of the fields of Larton, subsequently being involved in the destruction of the city of Easthaven and the construction of the town of Easthaven, which never reached the glory of it’s predecessor?", the man in front of me, Edward Anyor, esteemed baron of the town of Easthaven, said with a tone that spoke of the practiced superiority that crusaders and their friends get from their 'moral high ground'.
I would know, I used to be a grand crusader back in the days. But that was before I got kicked out of the Crusader Order for leading my team of ten men back to Easthaven during the end of the last war against the so-called forces of evil, thus avoiding fighting in the battle in which the Bitter King died.
"Yes, that is true.", I replied. I was just playing along knowing that if I finish the interrogation before my foul-mouthed daughter Marcellia stops yelling at the inquisitor in the other room, I might just have enough time to tell my son what to do after my execution.
I did not, in fact, flee from the battle. Just before it, I had recieved a B-tier legend marked with the aspect of death that asked me to stop a fallen angel of war from retrieving a very dangerous item and then hide it. Why would the god of death want something not to fall into anyone’s hands, I would never know. The baron will make sure of that.

"And where were your children during the destruction of the city?" he asked. Well, to my knowledge, Amarion was out of the city with his friends, doing whatever teenagers do in the considerably dangerous wilderness of Ezania. Marcellia was at home, preparing lunch.
When I thought about it some more, I realized that Amarion has been acting weird since the destruction of the city during my encounter with the fallen angel. Slightly more paranoid, way more careful, always more laid back than he used to be. And obsessed with defending himself. He asked me to teach him how to wield a sword, he learned how to throw knives and even tried to figure out how to use magic, although with his literally abysmal talent for magic that didn’t really work out. The legend system itself called his talent and his capacity for magic abysmal.
"Marcellia was at home. Amarion, I have no idea.", I told him. Now, I might not be able to lie under the watch of the wards around the place, but I could bend the truth a bit.
"Lastly, we have discovered irrefutable evidence that your grandmother, Kunoru Pozen, was working with demons at the time of her demise. The register of the former city of Easthaven states that Kunoru had blue eyes, and that her daughter - or your mother, depending on the perspective - had the usual red eyes of your family. To clarify, no other person included in the register of the former city has ever had such an eye color. What do you have to say regarding to this matter?"
"While Kunoru was indeed working with de—wait, what?" I started answering his question, stopping when what he said finally registered. I laughed.
"Eye color? Really? Your key argument for trying to sell this farce to the common people is that my grandmother slept with a demon, and the only argument you have is eye color?", I mocked him. The goddess of deception was probably laughing her ass off in the abyss. My response seemed to have turned his smugness into anger.
The entire dispute between us oficially started when the baron decided to expand his mansion and our house just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, though I suspected he had obtained a legend that required him to fetch the item I was hiding and he wanted to search the entire house for it. He couldn’t do it while I was still alive so he had to find all the dirt anyone has ever had on me.
"Shut up.", he said angrily.
He took a few moments to collect himself.
"Anyway, because you and your children are considered highly likely to be the descendants of a demon, you have proven to be unthrustworthy during the end of the war against the Bitter King and your daughter is probably working together with you, I hereby sentence you, Bryce Pozen, and your daughter, Marcellia Pozen, to death. Your son, Amarion Pozen, is going to be imprisoned until reaching adulthood at the age of eighteen, by human standards, and then enrolled in the disciplinary branch of the Crusader Order.", he said with a very even tone before calling the guards.
As they escorted me past the second interrogation room, I heard Marcellia yelling obscenities from inside it. I grinned.
'I guess I’ll get the chance to tell my son what to do after all', I thought. I had already written an explanation about the item from my B-tier legend and placed both the explanation and the item inside the same chest I placed my sword from my grand crusader days in. Now I just needed to send Amarion to them.
