When I woke up, I reviewed the skills I received from the Sovereigns. Long story short, each one of their titles give me knowledge of all of the spells of that particular element, as well as full control over them. On top of that, I cannot be harmed by anyone using any of those three element types. I may not be the ultimate warrior or mage in those elements, but it's most certainly the case that anyone that trains in them can't do anything to me with those elements.
It's now been half a year since that day, and I am one and a half years old. I spent that entire half year learning how to control each of my three elements. According to Chasm, the Void Sovereign, my current level of ability is enough to place me at the 5th level of the beginner rank, something unheard of for a child. I also have the ability to spiritually manifest them. They have the appearances of a black dragon for Chasm, a yellow dragon for Fulmina, and a golden dragon for Tora. Their bodies, however, are more ghost like, and they have no ability to interact with the environment yet.
I am currently training with Tora the Thunder Sovereign, and Fulmina, the Lightning Sovereign, on how to control their elements.
I had asked them why anyone that had Tora's ability of thunder was always a dual-element with lightning.
'Well Mors, the thing you have to know is first of all, Fulmina and I are sisters.' begins Tora's explanation.
'Are all Sovereigns related like that?' I ask.
'No, we all are not. Just Tora and I, and we are twins. Do you know how thunder and lightning works?' Fulmina picks up on Tora's explanation.
'Yes, lightning is basically plasma flying through the air at extremely high speeds. This is what people commonly see as a flash of light. Thunder is an after-effect of that lightning. It is the sound that comes after it, from the rapid expansion of the air getting super heated by the plasma. Therefore, thunder's most basic ability is sound. This all stuff I learned back in middle school science classes, so I was able to easily explain this.
'Yes, so therefore, wherever I am, Fulmina must also be,' says Tora agreeing with my explanation.
They aren't shocked by my level of intelligence for a 1.5 year old, since I previously explained to them about how I was reincarnated. I did not, however, mention that it was God that allowed me to reincarnate, and that I saw him before he allowed me to do so. I didn't believe it to be something that should so easily be shared. I wasn't going to go telling everyone that I was reincarnated either, only them, since they were going to be in my head all the time anyways.
They also advised me to stop holding conversations with my mother. They said it was 'scary' for a 1 year old to be able to hold an adult's conversation. So, I just played mute whenever "Mother" would talk to me. I can't simply call her mom, since in reality, we haven't been able to mesh well, and feel more like acquaintances than anything.
At the very least, she does bring me back books now to look at whenever she goes out. We must have quite a bit of money if this is the case, since books are very expensive. Makes me wonder why we live out of a carriage, since she doesn't seem to be a merchant.
Speaking of, she left on another one of her excursions, and has yet to come back, hence why I am out and practicing at the moment.
At this time, "Mother" returned from outside. She can't see me yet, since the part of the carriage I'm in has a divider up.
"Mors? Are you awake?" she asks, sounding apprehensive.
I quickly crawled back into my crib, pretending to be asleep. During these times are honestly one of the few times that I can say that I honestly appreciate her. Why? She never bothers me while I'm sleeping. All the other times, she sort of glares at me when my back is turned, and she thinks I'm not paying attention. The look that she gives is me is quite scary. This is the main reason I haven't been able to mesh well with her.
The glare contains a wide range of emotions, from envy, to lust, to hatred, to longing, and partly outright disgust. Hey, I'm a baby, not some kind of sleazeball! Give me some tender loving care here!
'Mors, this woman contains no real feelings of affection for you.' says Chasm, speaking telepathically. Since they are my elementals, who, mind you, according to common sense, I should not even have yet, I don't allow them to spiritually manifest whenever my mother is around, and instead communicate with them mentally.
'What is it?' I reply, feeling indignant. I mean, even if I don't love my mother, there is still some degree of familial affection there.
'I used a bit of my power to read her mind-' began Fulmina, but I interrupted her there.
'Wait, you can read minds? How?' I ask, now curious.
'This is simplicity in and of itself for her. She controls lightning, commonly related to electricity. The brain itself also uses small jolts of electricity to think, as well as dictate actions to your body. She is able to read those impulses.' explains Tora.
'That's... not really a fair ability is it? If all lightning users are capable of this, then that means that no one would be able to easily defeat them in a battle, unless the one who challenges them has a level of strength overwhelmingly above theirs!' I became worried at the implications of what they said to me.
'Not just anyone can use this ability. Firstly, they have to be an elemental. The amount of attention to detail and level of concentration is something that isn't achievable by a human. Secondly, the elemental needs to have complete mastery over the element, something that is only achievable by the Sovereign, me.
On top of that, if my host isn't stronger than the target, and they are in a combat situation, or are mentally alert, then I will be unable to read them. I can read her because she is neither, seeing you as naught but a child. The only case where there are no limitations on me is when they are weaker than you in terms of levels of practice.

Now, like I was saying, I felt something was odd about her, and I decided to try and read her. I was successful since she never has her guard up around you, as you are only a baby. She outright despises you, and most certainly doesn't look at you as a son,' finishes Fulmina.
I was now extremely shocked. I knew she didn't seem to love me, but I didn't think it was to that extent.
'Can you make it so that I can hear her thoughts?' I ask, since I would like to verify her feelings for myself.
'Done.' says Fulmina.
I decide to test this out. Let's speak to her for the first time in half a year. I pretend like I am just waking up.
"Mommy, do you love me?" I ask in my most childlike voice.
"Of course I love you sweetie! Mommy always has! No, I don't love you! I despise you! You are the child of the woman who stole my rightful place! I do, however, love your father. He didn't pick me for some reason though, and decided to marry commoner trash! So what if she is a little bit strong, and a good person, she has no noble blood! I bet she was a whore too! How could you do that to me! So, I took your child for my own to get revenge! But his damned black hair reminds me of that woman!" she says, and yet her thoughts come through to me loud and clear.
Shiiiiiittttttt, she's not even my real mother. I'm apparently a kidnapped child. And my father seems to have been of noble blood, and my mother a commoner. Well damn, that's a lot to take in.
"Sweety, it's still your nap time! Go back to sleep! I told that foolish man he had a year and a half to agree to my terms. I only told him that all he has to do is kill his wife, and make me his queen, then I'll give him his child back. Well, of course I'll still kill the kid later, but that's not a problem once I'm the queen. Why is it so hard for him to understand? I'm obviously better for him! All he does is keep giving me gold every time we meet to see if my conditions have been met. Hah! He thinks I'll accept gold and return his child to him? Or does he think I'm stupid, and won't notice those he sends to follow me! Good thing my father supports my decision, so he payed a lot of money to hire guards for me! The king must think I'm kidding! Well fine, maybe once I kill his kid, he will understand that I'm not fucking around! Yes, go to sleep, you piece of shit baby, I'll make sure you never wake again!"
She pulls out a huge hunting knife, and hides it behind her back.
OY! EVEN IF YOU TRY TO HIDE A KNIFE THAT BIG BEHIND YOUR BACK, YOU THINK I WON'T NOTICE IT??? I'M NOT STUPID!
'HOLY SHIT! THIS IS BAD!' I think this may be the end of the road for me. On a side note, my dad's the king? So I'm a prince? Well, if this continues, I'll be a dead prince. As I sit there, wondering how to get out of this situation, a window pops up.
Notice!
You have a skill available for activation!Lucky bastard!
I'M NOT FEELING VERY LUCKY AT THE MOMENT! Ah, come to think of it, Raphael told me to activate the skill when I was 1 and a half, and that he'd send me a sign. As good of one as any! Activate 'Lucky Bastard!'
Notice!
Force activating lucky bastard has consequences!Activate anyways?YesNo
Yes!
Notice!
You force activated 'Lucky Bastard! As a result, Lucky Bastard can no longer be forcefully activated!
Well, shit. Was NOT expecting that result.
Suddenly, I felt a tug in my chest.
Notice!
Soul Link has been activated! Those you're bound to can sense your location!
[AN] Note the difference between 'your' and 'you're' please! They are tricky bastards![/AN]
Eh? That's it? And I only have one person bound to me...
SMASHHHHHH!
The ceiling of the carriage got smashed in!
All I saw was a red blur quickly descend from it, and fall on top of the woman I called 'Mother' for the past year and a half.
Her new appearance, while hardly what one would qualify as an improvement, is that of a big, red, pancake on the floor of the cabin. There is some kind of red winged figure standing on top of her mangled body.
As I sit there, staring in wonderment at this figure that seems to have descended from Heaven, her next words tell me exactly how accurate that thought was.
"I finally found you, you troublesome brat," came a mysteriously seductive, and simultaneously insulting voice. The figure began to stand up.
"EVANGELINE!" I can't help but shout in surprise.
[AN]And so, the Angel finally descends! Did you enjoy the chapter? I hope so. I would've tried to have it out sooner, but events conspired against me. But, hey, I kept my promise as best as I could, and got it done in 24 hours! If you enjoyed it, leave a like or a comment. Suggestions or questions? Again, just drop a comment, I'll try to reply as best I can! Peace out, I have to get ready for more finals now, oh the joys of college![/AN]
