Chapter 2

1 Day later, Japan, Tokyo.

Kaito was currently laying in his bed, examining the weird black gemstone; it didn’t seem special at all. But as far as observation skills went, Kaito was not any different than any other regular human being, so he didn’t notice that the gemstone at this point was a bit darker than before. It reflected less light, but the difference was not noticeable to the naked eye.

Kaito was staring at the stone for hours now, he hasn’t even been able to study since the previous day and he wasn’t sure why. No matter how he looked at the gemstone, it seemed ordinary on the outside; but something told him there was much more to it. It was pure instinct, but at some point he could swear that he heard a slight whisper coming from it.

‘’Am I finally going crazy from all the studying?’’ he thought to himself while still staring at the stone.

He then sighed in a disappointing manner and put away the stone into his bag, and proceeded to study.

At the same time, Greece, Athens.

The city of Athens was currently bustling with life, the people walking on the streets seemed like ants that could not be counted. But at that moment there was a man sitting by himself on a bench, in a relatively secluded area of the city. Even though this man was dressed like a typical tourist, if one concentrated long enough on him, they would realize that this man still looked like he doesn’t fit in with the rest of the people.

The thing that gave it away the most was his weird eye color. No matter where you looked in the world, you would not find a single human being with red colored eyes. But besides the eyes, which could be mistaken for contact lenses, the man didn’t really attract any attention to him.

While still half sitting, and half laying on the bench, the man seemed like he was annoyed with something.

‘’Too far damn it… I can sense him but he’s on the other side of this planet. Using my powers to get there now would be too much. The last thing I want to do is to attract unnecessary attention. First thing I have to do is learn this new Greek language; doesn’t sound too much different from the one I remember’’

The man now somewhat concentrated his senses, at this point he could hear every single living soul in Athens that was talking. After about 2 minutes, the man smiled in a self-satisfied fashion.

‘’I really am a genius!’’ He thought to himself while smirking in a way many would find stupid.

It took him about 2 minutes to learn the entire Greek language, which is of course otherworldly for human standards. But as far as he was concerned, it was another boring task that was just a total waste of time.

‘’If it wasn’t for the damn stone I wouldn’t have to be doing this shit right now. I swear when I get my hands on you Destiny, you will beg your God for mercy’’ he thought to himself while being extremely annoyed.

The thing he hated the most was working, and social interactions; exerting any amount of energy for anyone than himself was a big no-no. If it was up to him, he would just seclude himself for the rest of eternity. But now he had to go find the damn stone, and he had to do it while using a minimal amount of power as to not attract unnecessary trouble. Which made him let out a long bored sigh.

In the next moment he disappeared from the bench and appeared about 10 kilometers above the city of Athens. Doing that took a minimal amount of his power and he was sure that nobody would notice since he didn’t sense any strong presence in this country. He was now looking down on a city with a population of about 5 million.

‘’These damn bugs sure have reproduced quite a bit since I was last awake. A bit more than 5000 years and they are everywhere. Plus I can sense some weak Progenitor bloodlines...’’

After thinking about it a bit more the man reappeared next to a huge building in the city of Athens. The name on the building read ‘National Library Of Greece’. The man casually entered the building without anyone noticing him at all; as if he was invisible.

After about one hour has passed the man exited the library with a 100% knowledge of every single book that existed inside there. History, Geography, Sciences… everything was now stored inside his memory.

‘’It seems like these idiots haven’t really changed. Even after all these years of evolution they never got rid of their self-destructive tendencies. War and hostility is deeply rooted inside of them, but can I really blame them though?’’ he thought to himself while remembering a certain person that he knew.

From reading the books the man now knew the current situation of the world. According to the rules set by the IPA (International Progenitor Association), any Progenitor could freely cross the borders of any country without taking into account the laws set by the country itself. The only exceptions to this rule was the U.S.A, Russia, China, India, United Kingdom, Germany, Israel, Iran and South Korea. It seemed like the laws humans invented did not apply to the Progenitors at all.

Considering the fact that there are 190 official countries in the world, but only 9 are the exceptions to the rule; one might think that these 9 countries held the most power and influence in the world. While that might be true at the moment, there were 4 global superpowers before the appearance of the Progenitors.

These 4 were as follows: U.S.A, Russia, China and European Union. But after the appearance of the Progenitors the EU totally dissolved since the military and economic interests of the member countries were no longer aligned. Not to mention the fact that Germany and the U.K each got Progenitors with powers far more vast than the rest of the countries, this resulting in the balance of power totally shifting, so the official dissolution of the EU happened on 14th of June, 2023.

It was not yet a confirmed fact, but the people speculated that amongst the so called ‘Progenitors’, there were 9 of them that stood out from the rest in terms of power and influence. And it was precisely those 9 that were in control of the countries that were exempted from the ‘’Progenitor Migration Rule’’. According to the media though, this was nothing but conspiracy theories and no factual information was ever presented to prove the contrary.

With all this information now stored in his head, the man was ready to move. Of course he would try his best to avoid the countries mentioned in the Progenitor Migration Rule. In the next moment, the man started flying at an incredible speed in the direction of Turkey.

At the same time, somewhere in the U.S.A

A man was currently standing on the top floor of a tall skyscraper, he seemed like he was immersed in deep thought. He looked in his mid-twenties and he was wearing what seemed to be ancient white clothes full of symbols and his golden hair danced around in the wind. There was no one word that could describe this man perfectly; on first sight one could think of words such as: Elegant, Beautiful, God-like, Heavenly. No matter how you looked at this man, he just seemed too perfect in every aspect, and exuded an aura of a ruler.

4 people were approaching the blonde man from behind, 2 women and 2 men. All 4 wore similar clothing, as if they were members of the same group or something. When they approached close enough to the blonde man, they all went down on one knee and one of them spoke in an ancient tongue, with respect and great reverence in his tone.

‘’Supreme one, we have answered your call as soon as we could and await your orders.’’

The blonde man turned around and looked down on the 4 kneeling people, his expression was emotionless and cold but his tone had a hint of urgency when he spoke.

‘’You are to travel to Athens as soon as possible and investigate ‘that place’. There should be no delay, I felt fluctuations in the seal. The last thing we need now is for that good-for-nothing to show up’’ said the blonde man with a serious tone.

When the 4 kneeling people heard the blonde man say the words ‘that place’ and ‘good-for-nothing’ their eyelids involuntarily trembled. Fluctuations in the seal? That was indeed bad, the entities that could make these 4 people tremble in this world were not more than 50, but this one was an exception even among them.

‘’Supreme one, what should we do if he broke the seal and escaped? Should we pursue?’’ asked the one that seemed to be the highest in authority from the 4.

The blonde man frowned for a second but his expression returned to normal in the blind of an eye. ‘’One of you will return back to report immediately while the other three pursue, very carefully. If you need assistance on the way you know which people you can ask. Plus, if he indeed broke the seal he should still be in a very weak state, all 4 of you should be enough to capture him.’’

‘’Capture? But Supreme one, should we not be aiming to destroy him if he is in a weak state?’’ asked one of the women.

The blonde man turned around and no longer spoke. So the 4 people took this as a sign to leave. They quickly disappeared and immediately headed for Greece.

When the 4 left, the blonde man was still looking into the distance, with a much more serious look on his face this time he mumbled to himself: ‘’Fools, how can you destroy destruction itself?’’

15 hours later, Greece, Athens

The four people were now standing in a tomb far underground, under the Acropolis. And contrary to the Supreme one’s expectations, they all had a smile on their face. The tomb was intact, the coffin was in place and seemed unopened. The chains were still in place too, and most importantly; the seal that held the being inside was still present and looked untouched. Unfortunately, they had no way of checking inside the coffin, since that required opening it or using extreme sensory powers, and they couldn’t do any of those two. The being inside the coffin was not something they could sense, unless that person themselves wanted them to sense him.

The 4 left the place with satisfying smiles.

Speaking of satisfying smiles, there was a certain man that was supposed to be in a certain coffin at this point. And this man was currently walking on air at an astonishing speed, with a satisfying smile. The reason this man was smiling was because, not only did he cover his tracks in Greece, he was also currently approaching the border of Pakistan and China. He didn’t want to approach China any closer than necessary since it was one of the 9 exceptions to the rule, and he knew damn well what that number 9 meant.

But he sensed a familiar aura the closer he got to China; this aura greatly resembled his own. And there was only one entity in existence who had a similar aura to him. So he thought that he could probably get away with entering China without attracting unwanted attention.

2 hours later he was on the border of China, right above the Karakoram Highway. Before proceeding the man changed his physical appearance. It was a necessary precaution while entering a territory that was potentially hostile. 95% of his power was already sealed because of the ring he was wearing so the entities that could recognize his aura could be counted on the fingers of both hands. It’s important to mention that if he really wanted to avoid any kind of trouble or confrontation, he could just go around these countries and travel above the sea but that would take too much time while his powers are sealed and he couldn’t be bothered to do that. It was just too much wasted time for him.

After changing his physical appearance, the man crossed the border into China. As soon as he did that though, he sensed an immense aura pressing down on him which made it difficult to move. If one had to explain it in human terms, it was like entering a deep sea with pressures much higher than the human body can take. He never felt anything like it while crossing the borders of other countries. It was like an invisible bubble of pressure was surrounding the Chinese border that could crush any trespasser.

The man stopped; the immense pressure was one of the reasons, but the other reason was because he felt a lot of auras approaching him.

‘’60? No, there’s more… 80’’ the man mumbled to himself.

The pressure suddenly disappeared. Soon after 80 people surrounded the man, all of them wore black clothing with ancient marks on them. In China, these group of people were known as the ‘Black Dragons’. As far as the public knew, they were the Progenitors working with the Chinese government and supporting it. There were of course, more than just 80 of them throughout China, but these ones were responsible for guarding the China-Pakistan border.

One of them approached the man. It was a beautiful woman with blonde hair and dark eyes that resembled an abyss. She was the only one that looked different from the others in terms of clothing and power. She looked like she was the leader of the 80 people present at the scene.

She purposely placed herself higher than the man, it was a way of showing off her superiority in status and power as compared to the person in front of her.

‘’Progenitor Migration Rule, if you know of it and you know the people that decided on it, you would never try to do what you just did…’’ Said the blonde woman in a contemptuous tone.

As far as she was concerned, this was another fly trying to secretly sneak into her master’s country without his permission. Even though the IPA existed and it kept balance between the Progenitors of different countries; it was only on the surface. In reality, some of the top 9 countries still had very bad relationships between them, and it was all because of the people who ruled those countries behind the scenes. Her master had a bad relationship with all of the others, so she knew that if any Progenitor tried to secretly cross the border into China, they were probably a spy.

The man smiled in a playful way, he didn’t know this woman personally, but judging by the clothes she wore, he had a basic idea of her identity and who she served. But his playful smile seemed to aggravate the woman so she asked in a demanding tone:

‘’State your name and business in this country, depending on your answer, I might give you the mercy of sparing you. But just know, me sparing you is a fate worse than death itself’’ at this point the blonde woman smiled in a hideous way. She did not look beautiful anymore, her aura was released and it felt like it could wither any flower in the world.

‘’OOhhh, how scary. How can such a cute little girl like yourself make such an ugly expression? You will never find yourself a husband like that’’ Said the man with the same smile on his face.

The woman’s expression suddenly became serious and she instantly had a bad premonition. She did not know the reason why, but the man in front of her, even though she knew for a fact that he was weaker than her, he still gave her a bad feeling.

‘’Who are you?’’ she asked with a serious expression.

‘’Just a passerby, I’m travelling to Japan and as long as you let me through, I will cause no trouble and will be on my way. I assure you I have no ill intent towards you or your master’’ replied the man with the same smile.

As soon as the woman heard the word ‘master’, her expression turned ugly again. How did this small-fry know about her master? The only people that would know that are those who wish harm upon him, so by proxy, the man in front of her already was a dead man in her head. She would rather die ten-thousand times than let any harm come to her master.

With zero hesitation, she appeared in front of the man and aimed a punch at his face with full power. During those milliseconds that it took her to perform the action she looked the man in the eyes for the first time. Her eyelids suddenly trembled; if her eyes resembled an abyss then this man in front of her was on a whole other level, some words popped up in her head in that split second: Devil-like, wicked, immoral, corrupt, depraved, vile, unholy, atrocious, malevolent, deathly…DOOM!

Before she could even collect her thoughts together her body already reacted on it’s own, out of pure survival instinct. Her fist stopped right in front of the face of the mysterious man. At this point she no longer found this man’s smile playful and teasing. It looked more like the smile of a psycho predator playing with his pray before completely devouring it.

Before she could retreat away from the danger, she realized that the man already walked past her with an astonishing speed. The other Black Dragons tried to chase but the woman lifted her hand and stopped them.

‘’Let him go, he is not someone we can compete against’’

The Black Dragons stopped in mid-air with confused expressions, but they trusted their leader. She was after all, assigned to them by the master himself.

The man was walking on air further into China at a great speed, he had a self-satisfied smirk on his face that resembled that of an evil 10 year old bully that just stole candy from a 5 year old.

‘’Hohoho, I am indeed a genius. Strong, very strong indeed.’’ He thought to himself with his self-satisfied smirk.

But then the pressure that disappeared from before appeared yet again and his flight slowed down almost to a standstill. At this point he was no longer smiling, but he had a very annoyed expression which also resembled that of a child that just got stopped from doing mischief. For a moment, the man looked down at his chest and saw the outline of the ring hanging there from the chain under his black ‘Nike’ t-shirt. As if contemplating something, he just stood there for a moment but then seemed like he decided against it.

Feeling even more annoyed that he can’t afford to break the ring at the moment, the man suddenly spoke with a loud voice that shook the snowy mountains around him: ‘’So are you just going to exert your aura on me while hiding in these mountains? Or should I come personally to that peak and whoop your ass?’’

ヽ(`⌒´メ)ノ

The pressure suddenly faded away completely and in the next instant, a person was standing in front of him. It was a boy who looked like he was about 20 years old. He had long, dark messy hair and his eyes were completely black, with a small white pupil in the middle of them. His whole body was surrounded by a corrosive aura that seemed to corrode the air itself around him.

The boy stared intently at the man in front of him for a moment, before the corrosive aura dissipated completely, after which the boy smiled happily like a child and ran with his open arms to hug the man in front of him. Just as he was about to reach the man though, he got punched on the head, which felt like the Mt. Everest itself crushed on it!

<(x . x)>

‘’Wwaaahhhh big brother, is this how you’re going to greet me after all these years?’’ asked the boy with pouted lips while rubbing his head in a childish way.

‘’You damn idiot! Big brother my ass! You still have the face to call me big brother after what happened 5000 years ago? You might as well go die for all I care! Not only that, you also try to flaunt your power in front of me while I just broke away from that stupid seal and I’m trying to cross this shitty planet to get something important that belongs to me?’’ refuted the man angrily with an equally childish tone.

The boy looked a bit sad when he heard the man mention the incident from 5000 years ago ‘’you know that what happened 5000 years ago was out of my control big brother, the Cr-‘’ but he was cut off in the middle of his sentence.

‘’Don’t you dare mention him in front of me’’ said the man, his gaze suddenly turned sinister and the air around became heavy.

The boy got scared, but at the same time he was happy. This was exactly the ‘big brother’ that he knew and missed. So he smiled and said ‘’I’m sorry big brother, I promise I won’t mention him again. On another note though, you should come over to my place. I’ve built my place on the highest peak of the Earth, it’s a view you don’t want to miss, plus my servants will make you food that will blow your mind!’’

-.-

‘’This kid didn’t change at all’’ the man thought to himself while concealing a smile.

‘’Okay bring me to the peak, I haven’t eaten in more than 5000 years, you better have some good stuff up there’’ he then said.

The boy’s smile extending all the way up to his ears at this point, there was probably nothing in the world that made him happier than his ‘older bro’ actually acknowledging him.

‘’Come-come big brother, I promise you won’t be disappointed. While we’re on the way you might as well change back to your regular appearance, there’s no need to disguise yourself around my people’’

‘’No, just tell everyone that I’m an old friend of yours or something. It is inevitable that they will discover that I’m missing from the coffin and they will come for me sooner or later. So let me enjoy this peace and quiet while I still can. Plus while I can trust you to not say a word, I can’t say the same about your subordinates, as loyal as they may be, they are too weak and are still vulnerable to soul searching’’ said the man.

‘’You’re probably right’’ replied the boy with a somewhat sad face.

Soon after the two arrived at a large pagoda on the very top of Mt. Everest. As soon as they both entered, they got greeted by 10 green-haired women, which all had a very similar appearance. They were all extremely beautiful and their movements were like one with the wind.

‘’Welcome Master, and honorable guest, what do you wish to eat for today’s dinner?’’ asked all of them simultaneously.

The man frowned and looked at the boy next to him while walking past the 10 green-haired girls. The boy waved with his hand and said: ‘’prepare the best dishes and delicacies this world has to offer, tonight is a special occasion’’

The girls all nodded whilst bowing deeply, then hurried away in order to prepare the food.

When they were left alone, the man turned to look at the boy and said with a concerned tone: ‘’I’ve told you countless times already, this obsession you have with her is not good. You know that yourself, you two were made to be complete opposites. Plus you trying to replace her with these 10 cheap lookalikes doesn’t really do her beauty any justice does it?’’

‘’Let us not talk about her right now big brother. You just broke out from that damned coffin not so long ago. This is a happy occasion and I don’t want to ruin it by speaking of things of the long past’’ said the boy in a kind of dejected way.

The man could only sigh deeply, he knew damn well that this boy was still deeply in love with her, even though she totally betrayed him and forsaken him. But love is not something that this man could ever comprehend so he never dwelled on it too long. Love was not something that he was meant to comprehend anyway.

‘’You’re right, let us talk about something else then’’ he said with a smile.

***********

After a lengthy conversation about many topics, which mainly included the boy’s fascination with how the humans evolved into ‘master chefs’ and are now capable of producing amazingly delicious meals out of basically anything, the food finally arrived. The 10 green-haired servants came into the room with their usual grace, while holding onto a multitude of different dishes.

They set all of them down on a large table that looked like it was meant for about 20 people, but instead there were only two people sitting there right now.

The man looked at the dishes and in a disgusted tone pointed at one of them and asked: ‘’What the hell is this shit? It doesn’t even look edible, how about some classic meat on fire?’’

The boy made a sad face on purpose and said in an elegant way: ‘’oh dear big brother, you know nothing of the pleasures of this world yet. That ‘shit’ is called a pizza, and I promise you that once you try it, you will never want to eat anything else in the world’’

The man took a piece of pizza and shoved all of it into his mouth…

▁(⋆◡⋆)▁

‘’I’be neber…tashted smthg…thish ghoood in my lif’’ said the man while chewing and getting ready to shove another large piece of pizza into his mouth.

‘’hahahaha, I told you big bro, you should trust me sometimes’’ laughed the boy with a wide smile, while in the next moment shoving a huge taco down his throat.

‘’Theshe womftless…nom nom…bugsh mght hav acshully…dishcovrd smthg incpffedible herre’’ (these worthless bugs might have actually discovered something incredible here)

******1 hour later******

<(˘ ³˘)>

Burp~~~~~~~~~~~~

‘’Well, you can count me impressed’’ said the man while holding his belly and burping non-stop. This was the most fun he had in a while, he never thought that humans could actually create something so delicious, which made him more curious about other creations that the humans managed to accomplish in the past 5000 years. Yes he read about all of it in the books some less than 24 hours ago. But he now understood that some things are worth witnessing or experiencing first hand in this world.

‘’Alright it is time for me to head out, it was nice catching up.’’ Said the man while standing up and getting ready to leave.

‘’Big bro, you should stay some more, I still have lots of things I want you to try. There’s this thing called alcohol, it’s totally amazing!’’ said the boy with a pleading expression.

‘’This can wait, I really need to go to Japan to get that stone back. You know how important it is to me’’ said the man with a serious expression.

The boy looked back at him in the same serious manner. He knew damn well what that stone was and it’s significance. What was even more surprising for the boy though was the fact that someone managed to break into his big brother’s tomb while under the seal, take the stone and just randomly give it to some human. The act itself seemed nonsensical, but there was only one person he knew who would have the ability to do such a reckless and nonsensical thing at the same time.

After a moment of contemplation the boy asked ‘’After you get the stone, will you search for her?’’

‘’No, that’s exactly what she would want me to do. Plus it’s too much of a hassle, if she wants to see me she can come find me herself.’’ Said the man with an annoyed face. He really wanted to give that mischievous brat a good spanking for stealing his stone, but he couldn’t be bothered to search for her.

‘’Big brother, the thing is; nobody knows where she is. She was probably the first one that awoke from all of us. Since everyone else opened their eyes, they haven’t been able to sense her or find her. And now you tell me that you sensed the remnants of her aura when you broke out of the coffin? Won’t you say that she’s acting a bit too suspiciously?’’ asked the boy.

‘’It’s in her nature, don’t dwell on it. She IS named Destiny after all…’’ replied the man with a nonchalant tone.

The man then continued: ‘’Ok, I’m heading out. Remember, not a word to anyone, as far you know; I’m still sealed inside that coffin. Don’t try to contact me in any way, my power is sealed so I can’t communicate with you anyway.’’

‘’Of course big brother, when will we speak again?’’ the boy asked.

‘’You will know when the time is right’’ replied the man, and in the next instant he disappeared from the spot.

******Some hours later******

Kaito was sitting in front of his desk, buried in a book. The rest of the desk was also full of some other books, and also notes that looked like they were written with horrible handwriting. Suddenly Kaito heard the familiar voices of his neighbors which were arguing yet again. He knew that that was his cue to take a break from studying, since the arguing always occurred at the same time every day, precisely when the husband returned from work drunk.

He took a look on the classic clock hanging on the wall; it read 21:38. ‘’it’s three minutes late today.’’ He thought to himself while shifting his eyes to look outside of the window. It was dark, and he wanted to go get some food since he had nothing at home at the moment. The neighborhood was relatively quiet and nothing ever happened.

Kaito threw on his jacket, while at the same time cursing the fact that he forgot to buy groceries today. He took his backpack and exited his studio apartment. He could still hear the voices of his neighbors while leaving the building, although today it seemed like they were extra loud for some reason.

He was now walking towards the closest fast food restaurant which was about a 5 minute walk for him. The streets were calm as usual with almost no people really walking around and no cars passing by. After what seemed like the longest 5 minutes of his life, he arrived in front of the fast food restaurant. After ordering the usual for takeaway, he started walking home with a quick pace, since he didn’t want the food to get cold before he got home.

When he approached his building, he suddenly heard loud bangs and screams that came from his neighbor’s window.

‘’This doesn’t happen usually’’ he thought to himself, but decided to still ignore it, it wasn’t his business. While outside of his apartment door and searching for his keys; the screams of the woman suddenly got louder. But this time the screams sounded like they were coming from a person that is scared, not angry. Kaito gathered up his courage and decided to go check what was going on.

‘’Ok, I’m just going to knock on the door and-‘’ before Kaito could finish his thought he heard a loud bang, after which the female screaming stopped. He could swear that the bang sounded like a gunshot. Suddenly Kaito started panicking, his nonchalant bored expression was now changed to a scared one. He was already in front of his neighbor’s door, but could not bring himself to run away or pick up his phone and call the police, he was just frozen on the spot.

He tried his hardest to compose himself, and just as he was about to turn around and run; his neighbor’s door opened. In front of Kaito stood a man which looked equally as scared and panicked as Kaito, his hands and white shirt were full of blood, and in his hand was a gun.

The two looked each other in the eyes for about 5 seconds, which felt like they lasted for an eternity for both of them. But very different thoughts were running through both of their minds. Kaito’s survival instinct kicked in and his blood felt like it was full of adrenaline, in just 5 seconds he already went through all the possible outcomes of this situation, and none of them seemed good.

While the man with the gun in his hand was thinking of how he was going to get rid of a witness and get rid of the bodies, then how he’s going to flee the country.

After the 5 seconds passed, the man instantly lifted his trembling hand and shot Kaito in the chest before he could even react properly. Kaito felt an excruciating pain inside of his chest, after which he fell to the ground. His eyes were blurry at this point, everything was flashing in front of his eyes. It felt like he was bouncing in and out of consciousness.

He felt really warm for some reason, but in the same instant he then realized that the reason for the warm feeling was because he was currently laying in a huge puddle of blood; his own blood.

He then shifted his blurry vision on the person that just shot him, he wanted to look his killer into the face before he died. He realized that there was no fear anymore, there was just one feeling…hatred, immense hatred. He was just 21 years old, and he spent the best part of his last 3 years studying non-stop, he had no friends, no girlfriends, his relationship with his parents wasn’t great, he felt like he didn’t live at all. He felt extreme hatred not only for his killer, but the world in general. He found the world unfair, he despised it, everything about it.

‘’Why? What did I do to deserve this ending?’’ he asked himself in his head. He was never a religious person, but in this moment of immense hatred and regret for not living his life to the fullest until now; he could think of one thing only: ‘’If there is such a thing as a God…I denounce it’’.

The killer was now looking down on Kaito while still trembling, his eyes were full of tears. ‘’I’m sorry…I’m so sorry, this wasn’t supposed to happen…none of this was supposed to happen’’ he repeated over and over again in a hysterical voice.

He then pointed the gun at Kaito’s head while still looking him in the eyes, and shot the second and final shot.
