Frustration Overtake Guilt

Frustration Overtake Guilt

And another extension of yesterday, the cycle was put into motion.

So boring...Wouldn’t it be better if I disappeared? Wrapped in her blanket, Midori turned her head to the window and looked at the blending purple and pink evening sky. It’s not like anyone would care...besides, isn’t that what she wanted?

Nanaka was walking into her room but stopped at the door to look into Midori’s room, neighbouring hers. “Go takes a shower, you don’t want to hear Mom yells at you, right?”

“Okay,” she said.

This time, she did take a shower earlier than yesterday. Only, the time she stayed in there was still long.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!

Midori jerked like a cat just got drenched, she thought that she would slip and bump her head upon the wall.

“Hurry up, the water is dripping down to the bottom floor!” Noukyuu yelled. Though it wasn’t that loud for Midori whose ears were drowned in water.

“...” Midori knew she was going to be scolded and what else could she do but listen? She couldn’t stop the water from dripping down.

She ceased the pouring water and went out. Then the scolding came as soon as she placed her feet onto the bottom floor.

“How many times are you going to do this?” Tosaka said while looking at her like a problematic child. “The other day, your father open the damped ceiling and water poured down onto his head, do you want that again?”

Midori stared at her father, his face seemed to be saying that he would need to shut down the heated water. Again.

She went to her room after eating and closed the door. Laid on her bed, Midori was doing the same thing as any other days – reading psychological manga and watching YouTube.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

What the poor do what the rich don’t? The name of the video interested her. So true. As she was watching, Midori agreed with the video. Poor will choose to look rich even though they are broke.

Checking out other videos of this channel, Midori found that this was a good channel that would benefit her somehow. “Alux,” is it?

The cycle paused when the weekend arrived. Midori was now watching a video talking about books and the videos that she had watched inspired her to squirm into these books.

When she went to school on Monday, she asked the instrumental teacher if she could practice in the practice room.

“Yes, of course,” he said.

That three words rushed to Midori’s mind and she smiled, “Thank you!” and left the room.

*I have time after school waiting so why not practice? I don’t have to bring the violin home.*

“Hi, Midori.”

She glanced at the person and said, “Hi.”

That afternoon, she entered the practice room and began to play. At 4:30 p.m., she packed up and returned the violin into her music locker. While Midori walked in the music hallway, she called her mother, but there was no answer. She called again many times, still no answers.

“There’s no connection?” Pacing back and fore outside the building, still no answers. Seated herself on a chair inside for a while before she decided to start walking farther away from the school.

Only until she was halfway to the library where Tosaka was, did Midori was able to call her.

Her face was troubled and was feeling slightly guilty. “Mo—”

“Where the hell are you?” The first thing she heard was spoken through such an angry tone.

“...I was at school.”

“Did you know, I called you a thousand times and no answers so I when inside looking for you and those people there were looking at me.” Tosaka said, “They looked at me like I’m some kind of crazy woman!”

“...” Midori didn’t know what she was feeling or what she should be feeling at the moment. She opened her mouth but was interrupted again.

“I called you a thousand times, why didn’t you answer!?”

“...I was practising in the practice room, there were no connections…”

“I called you so many times, why didn’t you pick it up or even try calling back!?” From her tone, Midori already knew from the start that this wouldn’t end very well.

“I did!” Frowning, she said, “You don’t have to go to the school, I’ll go to the library.”

She stopped the call and continued walking. Although she still felt a bit guilty, annoyance and frustration were reigning her. I did call her! Many times, too. Why did she say it like it’s completely my fault!? Sure that it’s my fault I didn’t inform anyone yet, but there were no calls from her in my history. Still, I called her…

A sharp wind blew at her face, Midori felt cold, but not internally.

She entered Tosaka’s car and was met with a boiling mad face of her mother. As soon as the door closed, Tosaka was word-thrashing her with her fury.

There were two ways: listening to her thrashings and it’ll be over or—

Midori’s bottle was so full of frustration that her mother’s furious scolding aided it to punch the cap open. “I did call you, too! Look at my phone, there is no history of your calls! Why are you saying like it’s completely my fault!?”

...I snapped. Tears streamed down her face as she yelled back. What am I feeling? Frustration?

“Then here, look at this!” The fight turned into a competition of who called the other more.

“Why didn’t you pick up my calls?”

“There is no calls history of you, there was no connection.”

Tosaka snorted, “You use your phones too much that it’s not working properly. A phone is for calling not for games!”

“...” She was speechless. I don’t have a single game on my phone! Or even entertainment apps. She was still scolding with her repeating habit.

Midori stopped speaking. Tears were still sliding down her face but she tried to erase any expression from her countenance. Why should I argue anymore, it wouldn’t stop her from scolding me but will make it worse.
