I woke up, my arms were bound and I saw two guards.
“He woke up.”
It was the girl who knocked me out.
“Well, you’re certainly prettier without the mask.”
“Hah, a flirt I see.”
I smiled.
“Guilty.”
Then Brent walked in and both saluted.
“Jones did it again. Sorry man, Jones gave an order, and… well I can’t just deny his orders.”
“You’re good, do you know what they did with Wings?”
The girl snapped.
“She’s dead.”
I snorted.
“Please, if she was dead…”
I smiled.
“I’d know, and not a single one of you would still be alive.”
Brent shivered.
“Yeah… I know, that’s why I convince Jones not to hurt her at all.”
“Thanks.”
“Yeah, besides, I’d feel bad if she got hurt, and not only for your sake.”
I smiled.
“Why do you care for those insects, sir?”
Brent turned.
“Because those ‘insects’ have saved me quite a few times, Cina. Your job is to guard him, not ask questions.”
“Sorry, sir.”
Brent left the room and locked it. Even if he was my friend, he was still an Order officer. He couldn’t just drop everything and free me.
The other guard was also a girl. She seemed younger.
“So, how’s your day today?”
She looked at me and smiled.
“None of your business, bug lover.”
I blinked. Then she turned.
“Did I do it correctly?”
“You did awesome.”
Oh… she didn’t have her own idea, she must be a new employee,
“You should meet some fey, they can be quite friendly.”
Then I realized something.
“Hey, aren't you in my history class?”
She blinked then grimaced.
“Yes, I saw the lake. I know it wasn’t a bear. If fey can do that, then I wanted to fight against them.”
I smiled in a dark way.
“Oh, please. No fey did that… the fey were the targets there.”
Both guards blinked.
“Why are you talking like you know what happened?”
“Because I was at the lake shortly after the massacre, Me and that pixie killed the two fiends that did it.”
She shuddered.
“That’s… that’s how you know what you saw could do worse?”
“The thing that hurt me back then was of the same species as the ones that did the lake. They are the threats, not fey. Some fey, definitely threatening, but those things are far greater threats.”
The first girl snapped.
“Too bad, right now, you’re the threat we’re dealing with. And I don’t like your earlier threat when Brent was in here.”
“Trust me, that was quite necessary. I was letting Brent know to insist to Jones that nothing happens.”
I smiled.
I realized that I needed to get out of here. Taury, while being safe, was probably not happy.
The older one walked out.
“Be sure to keep an eye, but don’t worry, he’s strong, but he’s not breaking out of that.”
Of course, this would have been true… had I not been using a slight amount of fire magic the entire time on the lock. I could easily break out.
The girl left and the other one looked at me.
“So… has that pixie always been with you?”
I smiled.
“Adeline, right?”
“Yep.”
“Yeah, she’s been with me since a little before orientation.”
“Wow… She’s been there for a while then…”
“Yeah, she also laughed during the Arthur lesson the other day.”
“Why?”
“Because it was really historically inaccurate.”
“Well, the whole story probably is.”
I smiled.
“Actually, it’s not as much as you’d think. That pixie is the Lady of the Lake.”
She snorted.
“Really? That’s a bad lie.”
“It’s not a lie, she forged Excalibur and everything.”
“Please, it’s obviously just a story.”
“Who’s the number one enemy of the Order?”
“Morgan…”
“Morgan Lefaye.”
She blinked.
“Holy crap, how did I not make that connection?!”
“People usually don’t, but yeah, you know that story I told at the camp?”
“Yeah?”
“That was pretty much the story.”
“… Woah…”
“Yep.”
She was in thought.
“So… does that mean that Mordred is real?”
“Yep, in fact, he was in party with the two that caused the lake.”
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
“Woah… and the beast?”
“The seeming leader of the fiends as of now.”
“Woah…”
I smiled and she leaned closer.
“Sorry ‘bout this.”
She tilted her head.
“Control.”
Her eyes flashed white.
“What is it you need, master?”
“You will give me the keys, but, by your account, I sped past you, grabbing your keys, and knocking you down.”
“Yes master.”
“Are there any cameras here?”
“No, there is no cameras in the torture chamber.”
Torture chamber… yikes.
“Good, hand me the keys.”
She handed them over.
“Are there any mics?”
“No, what would you like me to do?”
“Lean against the wall.”
Then she leaned… wrong way.
“Other way! Other way!”
I was not that kind of guy.
She spun and put her back on the wall.
“Now sit down.”
“Yes master.”
She sat down and I unlocked the door, left, and locked it behind me.
“Release.”
“Crap, that was fast. How did he…? LET ME OUT!”
“Sorry, got to go!”
I ran, using my connection to Taury to track her.
I went down stairs and up halls, running past many people, getting a lot of followers.
“I’ve never been so popular.”
A siren sounded.
Then, the experienced girl, her blond hair whipping, shot after me, her speed was comparable with a demon.
I dodged and leapt into the rafters before using earth magic to propel me.
I spun and kicked at her, but she dodged and threw me into a wall.
Everyone else lost track of us, so it was a minor skirmish between us two.
“You won’t escape. When I bring you back in, I’ll finally get Jones to do what he should have done ages ago, kill that stupid pixie and hang you for your traitorous cruelty.”
“Well, aren’t you charming.”
I leapt up and kicked her side, launching her to the wall.
“Sorry, but I gotta save my friend.”
She slammed me into the ground and flipped, I recognized that style.
“One of Saiyung’s huh?”
She flinched.
“How’d you know?”
“Because I’m also one of her students. I’m the old man’s grandson.”
She smiled.
“Well, that’s interesting.”
She launched at me, and I deflected before snatching her leg and twisting her over my back, slamming her into the ground.
She backed up and decided to get far back to get a better look.
Then I was right next to her, a kick to her stomach.
She coughed and looked at me. Then she pulled out a knife and stabbed at me. Then a gun.
“I’m not letting you win.”
“Alright alright…”
I raised my hands… I could beat a knife, but a gun was a bit much.
Then… I felt what she wanted… not to hurt me, but to learn.
Then a new word came through me.
“Direct.”
Her eyes glowed a brighter white than ever before. She shook and dropped the gun, she fell to her knees and groaned before the light faded. Then she looked at me.
“Hello, Darling.”
“Heh?”
She tackled me. Sitting up with her legs on either side of me, a hold, she spoke sensually.
“My, another student? I thought I was the only one in town. Tell you what… I help you save the little bug, then you give me whatever I ask for.”
“Uhm.”
This was odd.
“What happened?”
“I don’t know… it’s like I just suddenly noticed how hot you were?”
“Heh? Release…”
“Oh, is that what you want me to do? Why not, darling?”
She stood up and helped me up. I had no clue what was happening.
It was like control… if it was always on.
“Please help me find my friend.”
“Of course, then we can do whatever.”
“Heh?!”
This was weird… how did I turn it off?
The scary part was… it took a lot of power to do… but I wasn’t expending any power by ordering her now.
Did I actually put her under a permanent control?
I followed her through the facility.
Then we came to a door, which she held up a keycard to. I heard a beep and the door opened.
“Cina?”
A scientist gave a confused look as Cina entered with me behind her.
“Mrs. Callahan, we are here for the bug.”
I winced.
“Pixie.”
“Yeah, the pixie.”
Mrs. Callahan gave a look of confusion.
Then I saw her… Taury, bound and gagged, with a syringe in her arm. Glowing blood in it.
I heard a snap.
“What… happened here?”
Cina and Mrs. Callahan shook.
“We… we… we-we-were going to experiment….”
“With… her?”
“Y-yes.”
My vision grew red.
“Put the blood back in her and wake her up.”
“Y-y-“
“Stop!”
I heard a bunch of clicks.
“Cina, what are you doing?!”
“Um, J-Jones. Fancy seeing you here.”
Cina was clearly caught off guard, so was Jones to see her helping me. But I was still angry.
“You… you did this.”
The gunman shook. Adeline dropped her gun in fear.
“She’s not waking up…”
Callahan squeaked.
“Jones, you have five seconds to explain, before I kill every person in this facility.”
Jones shook with fear. He felt the threat… more than that, he knew I was capable of following through.
“We… needed her blood so we could study pixie magic.”
“Did she agree?”
“N-no.”
My aura shook.
“Then why did you do it anyways?”
Brent rushed in.
“William, calm down. Jones, I told you it would be a bad idea and you did it anyways.”
He turned to me.
“William, calm down, most of the people had no clue he was doing that. You don’t need to lash out.”
Brent’s words calmed me. It was obvious that he was as unaware as I was.
Jones seemed to finally understand why Brent was cautious around me.
“Calm down, Wings is fine, right?”
I nodded.
“Good, then she will eventually wake up, let’s remain calm and not angry.”
“*Sigh*… You’re right…”
I looked over at Taury, picking her up before glaring at the scientist. She twitched in fear.
Brent looked at Cina.
“By the way, what happened?”
“I… don’t actually know.”
Cina smiled.
“I don’t know what happened either, but it’s like I see him in a whole new light.”
I sighed.
“Alright, do you need to keep with the guns up?”
Brent looked at Jones.
“… Fine… Men, put down the guns.”
Brent looked triumphant.
“See? Talking peacefully works.”
Jones sighed.
“Fine, sit down, then we can talk.”
I looked at him, then the guys around us, then back to him.
“No, because I don’t trust you. And I am somewhat aware of what you’re capable of, and if that…”
He pointed at Cina.
“…is an example of what you can do? I don’t want to be alone with you anytime soon.”
Brent looked at me.
“That is fair.”
“Fine.”
I sat down and so did Jones.
“Now… what happened to Cina?”
“I do not know.”
Brent looked at me.
“You don’t know? How?”
“I just don’t, it’s like a supercharged version of what I can normally do.”
Then… I realized exactly how I was able to do that.
“Pardon me… what is in those cases?”
Jones spoke.
“Dead fey that couldn’t last our experiments. We use their bodies as fuel for the facility.”
“… That’s why.”
“What?”
“Because of your monstrous *BREATHE* Because of you burning fey… magic is far more prevalent here. So, my regular power was severely boosted.”
Jones shook.
“Oh…”
Then, I heard a sound that terrified me. A voice.
“Oh, Little Licky… There you are.”
“What was that?!”
Brent, Jones, and everyone else froze.
“Get everyone out of the facility.”
“What?”
“NOW!”
I held Taury and reached to Brent.
“Take her to safety, and do not let him touch her.”
He took her with a confused look.
“What’s happening?”
“No time to explain, I’ll hold him back as long as I can. Cina, go with them.”
“Understood.”
Jones stood.
“We can help.”
“No, you’d be more in the way than anything.”
“We have firepower.”
“If that was effective, I wouldn’t be so scared.”
My serious glare made him falter.
“Fine. Move out!”
“No, you don’t.”
The shadow was already there. Brent froze, instantly recognizing him as a demon.
I stepped between the demon and the force.
“Get lost.”
“Awe, Little Licky, why are you so shy? Don’t you want to introduce me?”
“Sure, I’ll be like, ‘Here’s this fancy rock.’”
The Hunter cackled.
“That’s a good one, I should take it. ‘Look, a silly child’s heart.’”
“Mine’s better.”
He smiled before laughing.
“Oh, Little Licky, you’re so funny.”
“Why are you here?”
“Why wouldn’t I? Wouldn’t you expect me to be after you?”
“I thought that you’d send another goon.”
“Oh no, those act on their own, I’m a bit wiser, I waited for the Lady to sleep before I struck, she would be a threat.”
“And I wouldn’t?”
The fiend laughed.
“Little Licky, of course you’re a threat, I thought that collar of the Matron told you that much.”
I grimaced.
“Leave now…”
“Or what, Little Licky, I am greater than both the Lady and the Matron. What hope do you have?”
I smiled.
“I may not win, but I can certainly do a number on you.”
He snickered again.
“Oh, Little Licky, you can’t do anything to me.”
He rushed forward and slashed my chest, making me cough out blood.
“Little Licky, you’re so weak.”
He grabbed my face and threw me into the table where I was sitting before.
It broke in two and the demon put a knee on my throat.
“So… so weak… I’ll end your pity. Hm… how to do that?”
He leaned over.
“I know, I’ll turn you into my kin… what fun!”
Then the demon smiled.
“Three.”
The demon raised its brow.
“Two.”
The Hunter gave a confused look.
“One.”
Jones averted his eyes.
“Boom baby.”
I flashed a large amount of pixie dust, forcing the Hunter to yelp and launch back.
Then, he saw what he needed.
He launched at Brent and snatched Taury before Brent could guard.
He held a claw to her throat.
“Stop, submit, or watch her die. I’m sure you noticed, I have no interest in having you die, but I wouldn’t mind her dying, it would certainly be easier on me.”
I stood.
“Let… her… go…”
“No~”
“CONTROL! GHK!”
“Awe, what’s wrong, did you actually think you could defeat my will?”
I collapsed, coughing out blood, even with my increased power, the Hunter was far beyond any other that I fought before.
He grabbed me with one hand and slammed me against the wall. Taury in his other hand
“For a human, you are powerful, understandable considering your heritage, but that man isn’t here. You’ll be very useful as a demon.”
I smiled.
“What makes you happy?”
“Fun fact I learned a while ago.”
The Hunter raised a brow.
“Pixies are heat resistant.”
His eyes widened as I grabbed his throat back.
“Burn in hell.”
Then a flame spire, in the condensed room.
Brent and Jones slammed the doors shut as everyone made it out.
So… in that condensed room. In a facility where magic was supercharged…
The fiend screeched in agony.
I also roared in pain. The fire still hurt me, and I had a lot of it released.
The Hunter dropped Taury on the warping floor and grabbed me, throwing me through the wall and shattered me into the hallway.
He stepped out, absolute fury in his eyes.
“You… you… I’ll remember that…”
Then a flash of light. Then he screeched.
“Will you, Hunter?”
Taury stood, covered in flame. Her clothes somewhat burnt.
“Ah, dear lady… It’s fun to see you awake. I’m ticked off now, so I’m done playing.”
He and Taury launched and clashed.
Brent rushed over and grabbed me before yelping, his hands were singed.
My body was still radiating the spire. I couldn’t stop it.
“Run…”
“Not without you.”
“I’m sorry…”
“What?”
“Control.”
Brent’s eyes glowed.
“What do you need, master?”
“Go with Jones and release outside of the facility.”
His will struggled, but merely fluttered.
“Understood, master.”
Jones looked at me.
“Thank you.”
Then he and Brent ran with the rest of their men, Cina included.
I watched as Taurael and the Hunter grappled. Their power clashing.
Then Brent released and I smiled.
“Let’s burn.”
Then I used the rest of my magic and bottomed my soul.
And created such an inferno, that no one could have survived.
