Bulbasaur

Bulbasaur can be seen napping in bright sunlight. There is a seed on its back. By soaking up the sun's rays, the seed grows progressively larger.
It can go for days without eating a single morsel. In the bulb on its back, it stores energy.

Super weak. It's too small to fight physically, being the size of a human baby. Doesn't have claws or sharp teeth either. It's body shape doesn't appear overly fast, meaning a slow, weak, fragile pokemon. The only redeeming quality is that you probably won't have to feed the thing as it seems a herbivore. Not to mention that it can go for days without having to do even that. Although it is poisonous, helping it survive in the wild, it's only use in the midst of battle is to punish enemies that sneak a quick snack in the midst of battle.
Score: 2/25
Would be lower if you had to feed the thing.
Ivysaur

When the bulb on its back grows large, it appears to lose the ability to stand on its hind legs.
The bud on its back apparently draws energy from its body.
There is a bud on this Pokémon's back. To support its weight, Ivysaur's legs and trunk grow thick and strong.

Whelp. This thing is slightly bigger, with slightly better weapons. It's utility ends there, however. Losing the ability to stand on hind legs, and the bulb weighing it down even further, it's a miracle if this thing managed to jump, let alone fight. While it can absorb energy via photosynthesis, the bulb, bulbasaur's only positive charecteristic, has grown into a massive hinderance due to it drawing away nutrients from the main body, adding to food costs rather than subtracting from them. The poison in it's body, while stronger, is still insufficient to add to it's combat strength.

Never use. Will only slow you down.

It is able to convert sunlight into energy. As a result, it is more powerful in the summertime.

This thing is huge. Nearly 10 times heavier than it's prevolve. It also gets a large amount of energy from photosynthesis. It's body shape and mouth size somewhat reminds me of a hippopotamas. It seems hard to kill and harder to stop. However its positives end there. It's even slower than Ivy, and outside of the mouth, it seems unable to use any form of weapon. It still needs to eat for nutrients other than energy, and the large size requires a larger amount of food.

Can defend itself, and can be used to carry luggage. It can still find food, but it's a lot harder. The main problem is that it'd take too long to move from one area to another, because of its slow speed, high food costs, and requiring constant sunlight.
Becomes 0/10 in areas with no sun (Such as caves), and 4/10 in defensive battles.
Not the worst pokemon, but not the best use of resources.

From the time it is born, a flame burns at the tip of its tail. Its life would end if the flame were to go out.
Fire
It's interesting. It's shorter than bulbasaur, and is smaller horisontally. It's still heavier. Unlike it's grass counterpart, it's sufficiently agile, boasting sharp claws, teeth, and a burning tail. It's too small to do any real damage, and isn't the fastest pokemon ever, but it's servicable for what it's worth. The true kicker is the food costs. It seems carnivorous, and you have to provide it enough food for it to eat, but also some extra for the flaming tail. It's also weak to rain or snow. While a light rain won't ruin its day, a heavier shower can kill an entire army of these things, making them more trouble than what they're worth.
3/25
4/25 in places with guarenteed lack of rainfall (Such as caves, especially since it can hunt small animals within)
0/25 in highly rainy areas.
Not particularly good in defensive battles due to small size, decent in both, though. Too high maintanence to use effectively.

It has a barbaric nature. In battle, it whips its fiery tail around and slashes away with sharp claws.
It's faster, stronger, less fragile, and better equipped than it's prevolve. It's food costs are higher, but not noticably so, and it's a lot more resistant to rain.
It's the best pokemon covered so far, but there are better uses for your resources.
