Chapter 10: Ashley’s New Class
Ashley POV:
I miss talking to Fletcher but right now I’m having too much fun to let daddy find out, I know he’ll try and stop me if he knows what I’ve been doing. Yesterday me and Fluffy hunted our biggest monster yet a level 8 lone wolf. It was pretty scary but with me and Fluffy both working together we took it down. I told daddy I fell into a blackberry bush, I’m not sure he believed me but he didn’t question it, he seems distracted lately.
Plus, after a full day of rest Fluffy is almost back to normal. I would like to think I’m sorry about what happened but the purple stripes make him look so much cooler than before. I’ve resolved to cook him some food a little every week, not too often or he’ll get spoiled from my cooking but hopefully I can give him a few more colorful stripes. Maybe he can get all the colors of the rainbow, that would be so pretty. Still what was I going to do, oh yah Mr. Nimbus’s lecture.
“Fluffy your coming with me to school today. Mr. Nimbus is teaching us about some of the various rare and uncommon classes today. He’s a priest and a scribe so he knows a ton of stuff. Sometimes daddy mumbles that all he ever does is read and pray, that means he must have read a lot of stuff.” Fluffy just looked at me and then went back to gnawing on a carrot but I knew he was interested. He eats slower when he is full or interested in something I’m saying.
“I really want a new class but daddy won’t tell me how to get another one and made me promise not to accept any old common class. So that means I have to learn an uncommon or rare class to not get in trouble with daddy. You don’t need another class Fluffy but I need you to come with me and help me decide.” Grabbing Fluffy I took off towards town, hopefully coming back to get Fluffy didn’t make me late.
When we got to the school Ms. Woods was standing outside the door glaring at me. She just pointed at the door with a stern look and I slowly trudged through it hiding Fluffy in my jacket so she couldn’t see him. For some reason I had the feeling Mrs. Woods would disapprove of him being here.
“You’re late.” Instantly my two friends Misty and Amanda mobbed me when I made it into the auditorium. We were having class here because Mr. Nimbus was addressing all the grades and not just ours.
“I couldn’t leave Fluffy behind. What if being here helps him learn a new class. I need to get him another better class.” Misty just shook her head and Amanda sighed as I unbuttoned my coat and let him hop out.

“You know he’s not smart enough to understand real words yet. His intelligence is too low and even if he was do you think the teachers will be happy if they see him here with you? They’ll probably tell your dad and then you’ll get tin trouble again like always.” Misty was nodding as she heard what Amanda said.
“I guess I’ll just have to keep him hidden.” Fluffy grumbled when I stuffed him back in my coat but went along with it. I wanted to say I didn’t get in trouble that much but even I knew how much more trouble my actions tended to get me in, it’s a good thing dad is such a softie.
“Okay children, let’s talk about some of the most well known uncommon classes and what we know about them.” Sitting up straighter I concentrated on memorizing everything Mr. Nimbus said and promptly got bored. So, I did the next best thing and started writing down about the classes that sounded interesting.
After Mr. Nimbus lecture was over and he went back to the temple I looked at my list. There were only three entries on it mainly because a lot of the classes he’d talked about were magic and crafting classes. That’s too hard right now, you have to read a ton of books to become a mage and even if I could sneak them out under daddy’s nose it’s more fun to go charging into things.
I looked at the top one which I surrounded by stars and couldn’t wait to get the paladin class. Unfortunately, paladin was a third tier class in the knight class chain. Now it’s time to become a squire and start my path to knighthood. Plus, this should be the easiest of the classes on the list to acquire. All I need to do is learn the riding skill, practice my swordsmanship, and get daddy, a knight to tell me to do some stuff.
Dad will praise me for being a good girl and doing everything he asks and I will get my new class. Looking at the other two on the list I frowned. Dungeon Delver was a nice class that offered points in almost every stat with an emphasis in perception but too get it you either needed to reach the core on the first time you entered a dungeon or spend over half your time in it for at least a month. I’d already entered the dungeon once and there wasn’t even the slightest possibility of me getting too spend that much time in a dungeon. Moving on to the next one I shook my head as well.
While it had some good points, it was too weak. Maybe if Fluffy still had an extra class slot he could’ve learned the tracker class, it would of greatly help our chances of finding monsters and could have worked well with his predator class. Still Fluffy learned his poisonous beast class and it’s a rare one so that means it’s probably better. Besides, tracker is a highly specialized class and would add very little too him in turns of survivability. I smiled though thinking at what I’d heard Mr. Nimbus say about ranking Fluffy up.
Apparently by learning the predator class he already qualified for the uncommon rabbit rank up, killer rabbit. Then if I can make sure he reaches level 10 in predator before anything else he can learn the rare class apex predator. So, no more carrots for Fluffy until he ranks up in predator. I could never stop petting and cuddling him and I have to slow his rabbit level ups somehow. Now I just have to learn the squire class before daddy figures out I’m trying to do it.
