Chapter 3

Chapter 3

The next morning, a sudden light from my room woke me up from my slumber. It was as if God himself has descended to take me away.

“Good morning, Madame. Time to wake up.”

…of course, it wasn’t God.

I got up from my bed when the maid suddenly extended her hands holding a basin full of water.

“You should wash up first, Madame.”

Come to think of it, I haven’t seen my reflection yet.

I looked around and saw a mirror just a few meters away from me. I stood up so I could see my reflection.

Did I stand up on my own?

Nah, the player probably just has the same thought as mine. Anyway, what was I going to do? My body moved on its own and went back to the maid earlier. I washed my face and wiped it dry after.

“Let’s get down for breakfast, Madame.”

My ears immediately rang when I heard that word. Breakfast!

I followed the maid silently because I can’t speak to her unless we are programmed to do it. This situation is really f-cking me up.

By the way, why is this hallway we are walking so long? The wall is also covered in gold that I can see everything reflected in it…?

Hmm? I can’t see my reflection.

I stopped walking so I could check my reflection but I couldn’t see it. Oh well, probably because I am just a soul stuck in a playable character inside the game. What does that make me then? An unidentified entity?

I giggled at my own thoughts. I’ve literally traveled through different dimensions and this is the first time I am concerned about these things. I shrugged and continued walking until we reached the dining area.

Had I not experienced different lifestyles, my jaw would surely drop upon seeing this gigantic Hogwarts-like dining area. It is ridiculously big. This player is surely wealthy.

I sat at the edge of the table and the maids began serving me food. I haven’t been here for 48 hours but I could instinctively tell that I’ll be enjoying my stay here. I’m not saying it’s because of the food in front of me- however, that topic is open to be discussed.

*burp*

“Madame, now that you’ve finished your breakfast, would you like to take a tour around the manor?”

After eating that full-course breakfast, taking a walk would be the best idea.

“This is the waiting area, Madame. Most guests would go through this room before meeting you.”

I know that much.

“All of the rooms on this side are guest rooms… The servant’s rooms are on the other lower floor on the same side. This one is the kitchen.”

Oh! It looks clean! I approve of it. As much as I want to praise whoever is in charge of this place, I cannot. Ha.

“This room is the library. It is also connected to your office. Let’s take a walk in this long hallway now, Madame.”

If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

After a few meters of walking, we stopped in an open area.

“This is the training grounds, Madame.”

Hmm. Looks decent. However, it is full of people whose faces I don’t recognize but if I have to take a guess, they are probably just NPCs being added to the game as decoration. That’s simply ruthless haha!

“Madame, I believe it is time for your morning training. Please follow me so you can get changed into proper clothing.”

I looked at her in confusion but I did not hesitate to follow. The player probably got new clothes as a log-in gift or something.

“This tiny room adjoining your bedroom is the walk-in closet. This is where we gather all of your clothes.”

Does my character really look that stupid? This is hurting my pride.

When I finished changing into the clothes appropriate for training, my feet brought me to the center of the training grounds- raising a wooden sword in my right hand.

I spent at least 3 hours just swinging that wooden sword on a dummy. The player did not even give me a minute break! What an ass.

I am so tired. I want to take a nap.

“Madame, please drink this tea. It’ll help you recover your strength.” Wow, the player must’ve given it to me so I could train non-stop. That’s not what I want! I wanted to take a nap to rest my muscles!

Then, of course, I drank it. *Sigh*

I spent the whole morning ripping my muscles out and after having lunch, I was holed up in the library, learning about the history of this world which is helpful. The player did not skip that part so there are probably good rewards if they finish that story without skipping. Or it was just unskippable. Serve them right, they were skipping some parts yesterday.

Apparently, this world is called “Atlas”. It is derived from the “God” they serve, “Al’Treus”. There are 9 influential countries that the book introduced; Aragman, Kanzas, Segovia, Gamaras, Rasuque, Lesvetter, Meriknot, Vatisan, and Cerres- the biggest and most influential country of them all. The current place I am in is Aswain, a country between Gamaras and Cerres. It’s not a small country but its influence is not too big to make it to the book.

After spending hours in that library, I had a quick dinner and the player probably concluded my day because I am currently sitting on the couch of my bedroom, sipping the cold cup of tea in my hand.

“Do you need something else, Madame?” The same maid who woke me up today asked as soon as I put the empty cup on the table. I shook my head so she did not waste any time and cleared the table.

“I’ll be downstairs, Madame. Please ring the bell if you need something. Have a wonderful evening then.”

And she’s gone.

Thud!

Ugh. My shoulders is still sore from that sudden training this morning and my ass is numb from all that sitting in the library. It sucks but whatever I do in this universe isn’t up to me. Doing any actions or having random conversations will not be possible unless this character I am in is programmed to it. Dang, this situation is really rubbing me the wrong way. There must be something I can do. I better listen to my instinct because regret is a bitch.

But… now that I have a slight idea of what I have to do, how do I keep tabs on my progress if I can’t even move, let alone write freely? I may know almost everything thanks to my travels, but I don’t have Hyperthymesia.

I stared at the paper in front of me. Will I be able to pick that up on my own accord? And if I do, what would the developer think? They’ll probably shut me down immediately which is highly beneficial to me actually.

Let’s see…

I should start moving my fingers first… then my hands… up to my arms, then my whole body.

This reminds me of that nursery rhyme called “My toes, my knees”.

???

Eh?

I stood up and flapped my arms. I stomped my feet at the center table and shake my bottom. What? How am I moving just how I wanted?

I rolled on the floor and slammed my hands against the wall. I am really moving the way I wanted. How is that possible?

Ting!

This morning, I remembered walking on my own accord to check for my reflection in the mirror but forgot it mid-way so I shrugged it off. On our way to the dining hall, I also stopped for a few seconds to check my reflections on those shiny walls.

Why did I shrug it off?

I crawled to my bed. Even with that much realization, it still doesn’t change the fact that my whole body is aching.

If I can actually move freely, when did it start? Yesterday? No. It really felt like someone was fully in control of me. Then, did it happen when I was sleeping? Did my system separate from that Player’s character?

I moved the whole day as if someone was controlling my movements. I did not even have a conversation with anyone today so whatever triggered the separation or when did it occur, my actions today were probably the butterfly effect of what happened yesterday.

What does that make me then? A sentient AI? While it does sounds cool, I don’t think the game developers would find that pleasant. If they noticed that anomaly now, they are probably in frenzy trying to take it down.

Let’s just go to sleep and figure things out properly tomorrow.

If they don’t manage to take me down tonight, that is.
