Ch 22: A Broken Promise Ends in Dismay

Venus summons a huge gale force that turns into a wind golem. It grabs Zara in its giant hands and slams him into the mountain. It then drags him across it. You can hear the thing laughing maniacally at the sight of Venus and her strength. Even with all I can do, I sit down in just pure awe. The golem’s wind has to be spinning at a mad six hundred kilometers per hour. Even I have to move back aways from the battle to not have to fight the wind’s speeds. Zara seems to relish in the speeds. He escapes the golem’s fist as it crushes him by having a piece of him cut off, and then he forms from it. He then glows a blood red as it releases a huge amount of bloodlust. My heart drops.

“It’s going into Battle Dysfuction?” That’s not good. Stay vigilant Venus.

The Gale Force golem rears its fist back, as it tries to attack Zara, who then grows three time its size and dodges the attack and backs away and the Summon a huge spear made of blood and throws it through the right eye of the golem then I hear a scream as Venus loses focus and the huge golem fades away as she then shoots through the sky at Zara. She has two wind blades in her hands as she swings them violently at the beast, who nimbly dodges each strike. Venus summons down a cyclone it sucks Zara up and throws him a few kilometers away. Venus doesn’t let up. She knocks an arrow, and it glows a bright white and she launches it and it strikes the beast, then it explodes into a fine mist.

Then behind Venus appears the monster from a lost finger. It probably cut it off, and then another spear appears in the monster’s hand as he stabs Venus in the thigh from behind. Venus screams and flies up and pulls out the blood spear.

“You are magnificent Venus.” Zara screams, elated as he points at Venus.

“That Golem was beautiful. You elementals and your golems are so just ah!” He claps and licks its non existent lips with a grey and slimy tongue.

Venus takes a few deep breaths and looks over at me and then knocks three arrows and points them at Zara.

Zara then speaks up, his voice calmer. “You truly will not give in to the end, and that is why I admire you, Venus. That courage of yours will add the sweetest taste to that body of yours when I devour you and every sylphan in this city.”

He growls. “You will not win.”

Zara makes the next move as it forms three blood spheres from its hand and in quick succession throws them into the air, then they multiply and shower down a hail of spears on Venus who with the wave of a hand knocks most of the out of the way with a huge gust. But some find their mark piercing her wings and thighs. With a violent scream, they all shoot out of Venu’s with a tremendous wave of power. They drop to the ground and ooze back into piles of blood. She lets loose another volley of arrows that explode as they find their mark. Zara rips into a multiple pieces but he forms from another part of him.

Venus drops as her left wing gives out. It seems she lands hard but doesn’t buckle from the fall. She summons a blade made from the wind again and Zara changes it up and summons a spear. The spear and sword battle doesn’t last as Zara stabs Venus in the leg and then summons a second spear and spears her through the stomach. Venus can stitch together her wounds with her healing factor but it won’t heal the bleeding from the inside her.

“Venus, Ive trapped you.” It sings sweetly.

“I can see you're becoming tired. Keeping this armor of yours going is a fruitless endeavor, for I see all your weak points and the armors. You will not win this battle, no matter how hard you try.” Venus wipes the blood coming from her mouth.

“You talk too much. This is a battle. Talking is cheap.” She drops her armor and stands in just a shirt and thick pants.

Then, from behind a giant rock, the Gale golem picks Zara up and crushes him, breaking its back. Venus has the golem lift her up and then her hands glow a bright white and the sky darkens and the wind picks up hundreds of vortexes come and rips up the battlefield. Like a storm out of an apocalyptic story, the vortexes pick up every rock and smashes them back to the Tharian soil. She’s trying to find all the pieces of Zara she can find, but I can feel her beginning to burn out. She’s opened her second limiter and I doubt she has the strength to keep her third open for long.

The thought of her opening her third limiter sends shivers down my spine at the thought of her dying. I hope she wins because if this goes on for too much longer, I will step in. Promises be damned, Venus. Make me sit here and watch you die. I notice a red dot on the golem climbing its way too fast up to the hand Venus sits on the golem and I realize too late what’s about to happen. Zara forms from a pool of blood and stabs a spear through Venus’s heart and she drops to her knees.

I stand up and watch as the golem fades away back into the wind, and the storm clear, and Zara sprouts wings to hold Venus aloft.

“Beautiful, absolutely beautiful, my sweet. You can form that golem so fast I never saw you coming. And you almost had all my pieces in that storm, but my blood is easier to hide from your wind.” Zara drops Venus, who drops to the ground and hits hard. I hear a crunching sound from her arm that must have broken.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

Zara lands close to her and I give in and teleport in front of Venus, my new short sword drawn.

“You will not lay a hand on her beast.” I use my aura to pres down on Zara.

“Finally she steps in the Reaper. Are you to be my next dance partner?” I almost nod when I Fell aura pressure push me to my knees and feel Venus standing next to me.

“Keep your promise no matter what. This is my fight, my Fate. You have your future. Do not interfere in mine, please.” Venus says and looks at me with her one good eye and her right arm hanging limply at her side.

I try to stare her down, but she just keeps her aura pressure up and continues to use it to put me into submission.

“Fine.” I teleport out of sight to a new vantage point.

I know for fact now after that look in her eyes she is going to open her third limiter out right without going through the first and second again, which will kill her and…. and I don’t know what else to do anymore. Do I help or keep a promise to her?

I watch her for a moment and see her facing down a monster that she has known for three centuries will kill her and how she will die this day and she is still here. Fighting makes me decide.

I will stay with you to the end, Venus. I won’t leave you alone. That’s my decision. If I you don’t want me to get involved, then I will be with you to the end.

Venus and Zara sit for a few passing moments, catching their breath, trying to figure a way to win the battle. My heart pounds at when looking at the shape Venus is in. Venus has a broken left arm, her bow is snapped, and her left eye has been gouged out. Her mana is still in good shape, I feel, but she is not in top shape. Then Zara speaks.

“Why do you not allow the Reaper to help you in this battle?” He actually leans on a rock when asking this.

Venus doesn’t answer, just tries to throw a wind spear at Zara, who casually blocks it.

“Take a break, dear. This is the last stretch of our battle and my sweet victory. Speak with me for just a moment and answer the question.” He turns his featureless face to Venus.

Venus sighs. “Alva has her own destiny and only so many chances to reach it. If she fights here and dies, the entire world will fall.” venus shakes her head.

“No more than what the common god would know.” Venus takes slow breaths.

Zara nods. “Yes, the fate of the Reaper to save us all from the Galaxy eater.”

Zara projects his voice into my mind, allowing me to hear him better. “Not even Master Phoenix understands what the Galaxy eater means,” Zara projects his voice into my mind, allowing me to hear him better.

“Yes, few do, but that is why I won’t allow her. She must reach that day.” Zara again nods and then leans off the rock.

“Very well, let us finish this. Venus and I can finally devour you.” Zara drools.

“Show me your swan song Venus go out in a blaze of glory like A Titan of Azeratham!”

Azeratham, the creator of the Titan race, an ancient god that died during the First queen of cardinals reign two millennia. The titans never met him except the First Titan still alive today.

The world goes quiet. An icy breeze blows across the mountain’s peak with the sweet and tangy smell of the flowers. Goose bumps cross my skin from the impending battle. The mzynes prepare for the influx of power Venus is about to unleash.

Suddenly Venus glows a bright white, just like Emelia. Then the aura pressure kicks. up, the pressure in the area goes up by ten times that of normal like having a tidal wave from Jupiter's ocean crash into you. I have to step back a bit to avoid having to use my pressure to defend against hers. Venus screams as she uncaps her third limiter, a pain few could endure without dying. Then a reddish hue paints her aura, making it a light shade of pink as it mixes in with the white, showing that her blood is now boiling. Then she takes off at Zara, who summons a shield to stop the attack. Venus holds out her hand and summons a fist of hers Gale golem. Like an angry spirit, the golem emerges from behind her, following her, and delivers a punch to Zara, tearing him apart with the spinning blades of wind in its fist. The golem is massive, standing a hundred meters tall. It contains a spinning gale of wind blades that can tear apart anything that comes near it.

Currently, that thing would hurt me badly. I would struggle with the blades, mostly.

Zara regenerates into thousands of him that all run inside the golem spirit. The golem, with its black eyes, glows with ancient power as it speeds up the blades inside of it trying to slice Zara up into more pieces but her regenerates faster and faster before reaching a limit as two thousands Zara's at a guess appear to all meld together into a bigger one not as tall as the golem but half it height. It oozes and pulses even as the golem tries to cut him in half when finally formed after Zara formed a cocoon around it and, in a blink, summons giant wings on his back.

Zara attack and stabs his spear of blood into an eye socket of the golem and I hear a scream from the Venus, but the golem upper cuts Zara, knocking his head off in one attack. It grows into two large Zara’s that tag team Venus who swings both hands out to slap the Zara and the stumble backwards into the mountain.

She the punches one of the Zara into a bloody mess. The mountain in painted from the blood and it seems this Zara won’t regenerate fast enough. She raises a hand, and the sky glows a dark golden hue as I hear Venus scream.

“I Herby brake the vow of a Titan and summon the golden spears of Azeratham!” Thousands of golden spears drop from the sky and pierce Zara to the earth repeatedly until it, too, is a bloody mess. The golem fades away, back into tiny glowing crystals into the wind. Venus stands there swaying in the wind and, before she could react, Zara stabs her through the heart just as her time runs out. Her green blood spills everywhere.

“Time for me to devour you, sweetie!” Before he can eat Venus, I teleport over there and grab his neck and lift him up.

“She’s already dead beast! Time for you to leave.” Then I teleport him as far away as I can, hopefully into the nearest volcano.

I lay Venus down and see the ashening process has already begun. Her body turns into ash and blows away into the wind.

“Good fight Queen of Sylphans, your people are safe and we will protect them, rest well and don’t forget about me in the halls of the Mother.” I hate the tale of the mother, but Venus always prayed to her.

“Walk her glorious halls and drink and be merry amongst her greatest devoutness that fought and died warriors.”

I feel a hand on my cheek and look down to see Venus used the last of her strength to show me she is smiling.

“I broke my promise to not interfere by sending him away, but you deserve to die in peace.”

Then her hand drops, and the rest of her body turns to ash and blows through my fingertips.

I just sit and stare into the sky, not sure of what to say or do next.
