Chapter 26: I Need a Montage Part 5: Too Many Levels

Chapter 26: I Need a Montage Part 5: Too Many Levels

“Alea?” Helen asked, I knew it was not the first time any of the people there had asked. I had completely lost track of what Riza, Helen, and Earl had been talking about. Though it was clear in their reactions my shock was evident.

I cleared my throat. “Uhh, I just got several levels from performing that healing is all.” I attempted to cover for my shock with what was technically true, but actually a lie. I didn’t know if anyone had lie detection skills here, but it was a safe assumption at least Earl did being a guard. I couldn’t lie directly about what had just happened.

Helen gave me a knowing nod, Riza seemed nonplussed, but it was Earl that gave me a skeptical look. As I expected my statement was so far from the truth it pinged his skill. Earl’s eyes unfocused for an instant in the way people did when they were using Identify. “W-wait… since when were you healer tagged… or level 100 for that matter.” Earl stammered out a bit dumbfounded.

Healer tagged? My first class was… oh. My second class was now my highest level class, that meant when people identified me they would see that I was a healer. Both Helen and Riza’s eyes unfocused, confirming what Earl had just said. “Yeah… like I said… several levels, you know, just 67… at least.”

I heard Alice snicker in the back of my head. 67, at least. In a sarcastic tone.

Helen gasped, and Riza began to message her temples a bit of worry showing. “You got a major achievement didn’t you…” Riza sounded simultaneously flabbergasted and defeated.

I glanced at Earl knowing I had to tell the truth. “Yes.” I made my system give me the description of the achievement.

*The Cure for Cancer

Method: Be the first person to discover or if the knowledge was lost rediscover a method to permanently cure cancer.

Bonus: Your Vitality, Animus, Magic, and Manipulation are all increased by 10% permanently.

Notice: Only one multiplier can be applied to each stat, if two or more are applied only the highest will be used.*

No bonus skill this time and since I already have a higher bonus to [Vitality] that didn’t do anything. Likewise [Animus] and [Manipulation] were already being increased by 5%, so overall the big bonus was to [Magic]. I shrugged and decided to just tell them about it. I needed to act excited so no one expected I had gotten other achievements before.

“Yeah, it says I’m the first person to discover a method for curing aging disease. I get a 10% permanent bonus to [Vitality], [Animus], [Magic], and [Manipulation].” I did my best to look shocked by the bonus.

Riza let out a low whistle, Earl shook his head, and Helen gasped yet again. “That’s a pretty massive boost for Healer and Spellblade.” Riza said. “Not exactly the stats I’d be looking for but still. That’s definitely a [Major Achievement].” Riza wasn’t complimenting me, it was literally a [Major Achievement], as of the highest class of achievements.

“That may be so, but it also means she knows something dangerous.” Earl spoke, not as the person, but as the guardsman. “I know you can defend yourself considering the whole basilisk thing, but still, you need to be careful.”

Riza snorted. “No need to worry about that, she is one of my charges.” She sounded a bit hurt at the accusation.

Helen shook her head. “Earl’s right, that knowledge is dangerous. You need to distribute it as quickly as possible before it invariably leaks that you know.”

I glanced at the middle-aged woman. I had thought of her as something of a mentor, though truly we were the same age; had lived about as long as each other at least. If we had a student teacher relationship I might consider her proposal, but I simply wasn’t sure I could distribute this knowledge. Firstly there weren’t many [Fire] healers in the world, it was a maligned element class combination. I doubt that will continue to be the case after it is known only [Fire] healing can cure a certain class of diseases. I suspected it went past just cancer as well, prions, genetic diseases, and birth defects might also be something only [Fire] healers can deal with. However more importantly than the popularity problem is the fact that it requires modern day medical knowledge to correctly envision the differences in cells. I would likely out myself to the gods or potentially even the progenitors if I shared that type of knowledge.

Damn, I needed to discuss this with Mel. Good thing I had a class up to do.

Of course, classing up my healing class before maxing out its skills wasn’t exactly great. The higher the skills that your class shared tags with the higher the class quality would be. That also applied to stats, but truthfully my stats were bonkers for someone my level. Another 30 levels in [Radiant Redeemer] would certainly matter, although probably not as much as maxing my skills.

“I think I need to consider how to disseminate this knowledge very carefully.” I said. “You all have good points, Earl is right that people will be coming after me, and I hate to say it, but those people will probably be from the shorter lived species. Elves are among the longest lived species so this cure matters to my people much more than to humans. On the other hand Riza is right that she can probably protect me when she’s around. She was afterall a named adventurer and is likely among the most powerful combatants in the country. All that being said, Helen is also correct that I now have a duty to teach everyone I can. Not just because it will benefit elves more than other species, but because I am a healer.” I sighed, already wary from the burden this knowledge has placed on me.

Everyone was looking at me thoughtfully. All of them had long since stopped considering me a child, at least in this arena. “Can I trust each of you to keep this to yourselves?” I asked, looking from face to face.

Helen pursed her lips somewhat unhappy with something. “I understand the situation you are in, but I currently have patients that very well might have aging disease. People might die while you are making up your mind.”

I nodded. “True… people will die before I can even write everything I need to about the process down though. The cure also requires [Fire] healing, something very people have. It will take years, potentially decades for the cure to be accessible to everyone. And that assumes I somehow could ensure my manuscript wouldn’t become coveted knowledge held from passing the borders of Hakan.”

Helen’s eyes fell, she clearly hadn’t considered the very real and indeed likely possibility that her country will attempt to gain control over the dissemination of this cure. “I’m not sure that would happen…” I began as my mind went back to Princess Rose. I was still uncertain if she was an enemy or not, but for whatever reason I felt she might do the right thing. “But, I have to be careful all the same. The worst scenario is I write down everything I know only to be assassinated and for it to be locked away in a royal vault and the cure becomes a strategic asset for whatever country keeps the knowledge.” I looked at Helen biting my lip a little. “I want to help people, and unfortunately that might mean I have to let others die…”

She opened then closed her mouth. She stared me down for a long moment before huffing and slumping into a chair.

Earl gave a mirthless chuckle. “I see you’ve already considered the dangers more than I had. You have my silence for what is worth, but just try not to take too long. I doubt I can hide that I’ve been cured forever.”

“Thanks Earl…”

Riza was the next to speak. “I have to tell my lord.” My eyes fell at that, I knew she would, but still I had hoped. “We have a secure, albeit expensive, form of communication for emergencies and important information. I suspect he will want to assign you even more security. Usually I would bring such a thing up with Lord Isaac, but…” He’s a fucking abuser, potentially a rapist, and has attempted to control me in the past, I added in my head. At least she wasn’t going to tell that jackass.

I glanced at Earl and Helen then bit back a reply to her statement. I shouldn’t talk about Halcroft around these two. Instead I nodded. “Alright, for now I’ll start working on a manuscript. We can’t do anything until it's ready anyways.”

With that the conversation came to a quick close with Riza and I leaving Grimstel at a leisurely pass trying not to alert attention. I intentionally kept a disappointed look on my face as we left, but didn’t answer any questions. I just had to hope people assumed I had failed, because if I actually attempted to lie around a bunch of guards I was likely to be caught by skills.

Once we were a good distance from the town I finally spoke. “I know you have your duty to Halcroft… but I don’t think you should tell him.”

Riza froze at the words and something flashed in her eyes. She began walking a moment later, seeming to ignore me. I wasn’t entirely sure what to say next and it seemed Riza was considering her response so I was content to give her a minute. We were walking back to the manor as opposed to using skills so it would take us at least an hour.

“I have sworn myself to his service. Not telling him would break that vow.” Riza finally spoke, but her words were… tentative, fragile, entirely unlike the strong woman I knew her to be.

“You are a knight, your service is not just to that man, but to Hakan as well.” I did my best to remove any accusation or condescension from my voice. I already knew Riza was grappling with these two loyalties. “He will order me to never share the cure. He will use it as a tool at the cost of anyone without the Halcroft name.”

Riza stopped raising a hand to stroke her forehead in annoyance. “I know that, child.” She turned toward me, her eyes fierce. “I know what he will do with the cure, it will advance his position, that is exactly what I should be doing.” Her words had gained an edge to them, but I wasn’t sure if she was arguing with me or herself.

“At what cost?” I asked as gently as possible. “I am his slave, I have no real choice in this, you… are not. You have a choice.”

Anger flared within her eyes as she looked down at me and for a split-second I thought she was going to attack me. After a long few seconds her shoulders relaxed some. “How long will it take you?”

“To make a manuscript?” She gave a curt nod. “Weeks, probably all the way up until I leave for the capital. I could make one copy sooner, but I need enough to disperse it widely enough the truth can’t be contained. This… knowledge is not something that can be explained in a few words.”

Riza sighed. “There is another potential option. I still have to tell him, immediately, but if you write a manuscript I can get it to the royal family before you leave for the capital. It isn’t perfect, but it will at least not create a schism between the duke’s house and the royals.”

“How do you plan to do that exactly? The manuscript will be more than a bird can carry.”

“Princess Rose is currently in the area for some confidential investigation. She informed the Halcroft family of her presence about a week ago and I happened to be in the room when she did.” Riza explained. “I’ll track her down and get her the manuscript in secret.”

That was, actually, not a bad alternative. “Alright, but when you tell Halcroft about this could you tell him I said exactly these words; Clarity came in her final days.” Riza gave me a strange look, but I just shrugged. “He’ll understand.”

Oh my, how cloak and dagger of you. Implying I killed you after obtaining the knowledge required to cure the disease. Alice said jovially.

Lying through another person is about the only way I even can lie to him. I added.

Oh, entirely agreed, good play, and here I thought I was much more manipulative than you, clearly my influence has been good for you. I rolled my eyes at her antics.

“Alright I’ll deliver your message, just be sure to have that manuscript done as soon as possible.” Riza said, before picking up the pace back to the manor.

-------------------------------------

I entered my apartments to see mom, Taele, Penelope, and Farva all sitting around what has become our dining table. “How did it go?” My mom asked the moment I entered the room.

“Check my level.” I answered. “I got… a lot of experience for doing it.”

“Healer? 100!” Taele gasped. “I can’t believe it. How do you gain that many levels from one action?”

I sighed. “I think I was the first person to ever do it. Either way I’ve done it, I have the cure, and I’m confident most fire healers can do it too.”

“We must inform the queen somehow, it will change so many lives.” Mom said still a bit shocked by the revelation.

“Yeah, but first I need to write down a manuscript on how to cure the disease and… I need to check on something before I can do that.” I said. “I’m going to class up right now, I need to confirm something there.”

“Shouldn’t you max out all your skills first?” Penelope asked.

I shook my head. “Yeah… I should, but this can’t wait.” Everyone gave me a look, the same one that they had for some time. It had become very obvious they all knew I wasn’t telling them something very important. I wanted to tell them, but I couldn’t risk the escape. Alice and I agreed to do it after we escaped, and I still thought it was for the best. I gave them a beseeching look. “Will you all trust me, at least until after…” I let them finish the sentence themselves.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

Taele sighed and shared a look with mom. “We’ll protect you while you class up.”

“Thank you… I love you all.” I pull each of them into a hug in turn. “I’ll try to be quick.” I said before closing myself in my room.

I laid down on my bed and activated the class up option. My body once again became paralyzed and before long my mind was once again shunted to the pearlescent room.

Only the professional door was lit up and Mel stood before me, but far more surprising was another me standing next to me. A perfect copy of me was standing there bewildered, staring at her hands. “Oh, well that’s new.” Mel commented casually.

“Alice?” “Alea?” Both me and my doppelganger asked each other at the same time.

“Well I guess you girls are both in the same brain… I may have been a bit hasty and just grabbed all the consciousness at once.” Mel gave us a chagrined look. “I’ve never had this problem before.”

I glanced back over to Alice who had a little smirk on her lips. She then… I guess hugged herself and twirled clear glee on her face. “My own body!” She squealed.

Her enthusiasm made Mel and I smile as well. “Well not to burst your bubble, but it's just your own magical construct really.” Mel informed us. “You’ll need to go right back into Alea’s head after this.”

I walked over and jabbed Mel in the stomach. “Shhh, let her enjoy this.” I said with a mock glare.

Mel rolled her eyes. “I still can’t believe you became buddy buddy with the magical clone of yourself designed to kill you. I can’t tell if you’re a masochist, saint, or just have some weird kink.” I raised a finger to object but she gave me a side-eyed look and just continued. “Probably a bit of all three knowing you.”

“I-” I stuttered and stopped feeling my face warm. Was she implying I wanted to… no wait, I don’t want to know. “You know what? Think whatever you want, I felt bad for her situation, and she is a person and deserves a life.”

Mel shrugged, obviously disappointed I hadn’t taken the bait. “Well as a magical construct without a soul I suppose I should appreciate that you believe we are people. It is an… uncommon point of view.”

Oh. Wow I had never considered Mel didn’t actually have a body or anything. I mean the soul thing didn’t really make much difference, I suspected I didn’t have a soul before I was turned into one, so are we really that different?

Of course I could be wrong, maybe souls were what made people, people. I had been a pretty hard-set atheist and determinist before, and I really hadn’t experienced anything that made me want to change my opinion on that. Sure there were literally gods here, but they just seemed like more powerful people than like an all-powerful deity. Magic defied the laws of physics and made determinism a bit harder to square, but to me it was just a force I didn’t fully understand. It just seemed a lot like the other physical forces, magic to me was the same as the electromagnetic, strong nuclear, weak nuclear, and gravitational forces. Meaning there were actually five and not the four forces like we thought there were. Until I found evidence to counter that line of logic I was just going to keep going with it.

Alice running around and doing silly punches in the air brought me out of my musings. “You know, you can do that in my body pretty much whenever you want.”

Alice’s already flushed face became redder. “I know that… it just feels different now.”

I shook my head letting out a little laugh. “Anyway, Mel, I assume you know what I’m here to ask right?”

She cocked her hip to the side and rested a hand on it. “Yeah, I’ve been watching. I did award the achievement after all. Well a subroutine of my matrix did anyways, but-” She waved her hands as if trying to clear the thought. “That doesn’t matter. You want to ask what’ll happen if you publish the cure, right?” I gave her a little shrug and a nod. “Well it certainly will be important if the gods or progenitors find out.” I noted that she referenced the two groups separately so that confirmed they were indeed not the same. “That said, the progenitors are far too busy with their project to actually notice. I doubt they will take even a second look at your realm unless someone does something really crazy and starts destroying founding cities.”

“That’s good… I think? What about the gods?” I asked.

“They’ll almost certainly notice sooner or later, but unlike the progenitors they don’t have access to the system, so a pseudonym will protect you pretty well. Of course they’ll eventually connect you to it, but even when they do I suspect most of the gods won’t actually do anything about it. As long as you don’t start introducing weapons of war the most that will happen is you’ll get a divine visitor at some point. They’ll confirm you have no intent to make anything truly dangerous then be done with it. Of course if the wrong god notices you’ll just get squished like a bug. I put that at maybe…” Her face scrunched up as she thought. Which I realized was probably an act for me, she had absolutely crazy processing power, there was little chance she needed to think about anything for more than a millisecond. “One in ten I’d guess.”

I shook my head considering the risk. One in ten to save probably millions of lives. Seemed like a pretty reasonable risk. “Alright, anything else you think I should know then?”

Once again she feigned thinking. “Nope, I think you’ll be alright.”

“Well good, I guess we should check out my new healer options then. I promised my mom we’d be quick here.” I said.

Mel smiled. “Well then I’ve got good news for you, you unlocked pretty much the perfect class for you.” She then opened the door and a strange warm light was shining down on the healer chair.

“You and your theatrics.” I deadpanned.

Mel gave me a shocked look. “I would never-” Both Alice and I gave her scathing side-eye. She rolled her eyes and snapped her fingers making the light go out. “Fine, spoil sports.”

I briefly considered if I wanted to check any of the other chairs, but truthfully I was so far away from being able to take another professional class it didn’t seem terribly useful. “Did I earn any dual-element classes other than in healing?” I asked the obvious question. A super high class quality was the only reason I might consider changing paths.

“Nopers.” Mel said in a sing-songy voice that made it quite obvious I had one waiting for me in the healer section.

“Anything you want me to check on Alice?” I asked, I wasn’t going to allow her anywhere near any buttons, but if she wanted to know something then it was worthwhile.

Alice made an obvious glance toward the noble chair but after a pregnant pause shook her head. “It's not like I’m actually picking a class for myself here. Kinda takes all the fun out of it.”

I put my hand on her shoulders and turned her towards me. “Well get you a body, you might have to start from level 1 again, but you’ll be here making your own choices soon if I can do anything about it.”

Alice gave me a weary smile. “Thanks…”

“Hate to burst that adorable little bubble, but even if you get her a body, which is totally possible, she won’t have a system without a soul.” Mel said.

Well that certainly did burst our bubble. “What makes a new body possible but a soul impossible?” I asked.

“Soul magic is called animancy, and it is the exclusive magic of the gods. It’s even more restricted than magic that can literally warp time and space. The system will never offer you animancy and if you tried to do anything but the most basic animancy with runes you’ll be immediately turned to paste by the nearest god to you. Also just to be clear, creating a new blank soul is way more than basic animancy.” Mel shrugged after delivering her terrible news.

I sighed and Alice’s look had gone from hopefully to completely depressed. I pulled her into a one armed hug. “Then I guess I’ll just have to get the notice of a god then.” Alice froze in my arm and Mel burst into laughter.

After several seconds of hard laughter she wiped tears from her eyes. “Oh Alea you do not disappoint. This is going to be fun to watch!” Then Mel gave me a serious look. “When you make waves I’ll do my best to point a sympathetic god in your direction.”

I grinned at the administrator. “Thanks Mel.”

She just shook her head. “Gods, mortals are the best.”

I walked over to the healer chair. It was time to see what class I had earned. Before I could reach the chair Alice grabbed my wrist to stop me, then pulled me into a surprise hug. She held me there for a stunned moment before I felt tears hitting my shoulder. “Why are you so nice to me?” Alice croaked in half garbled words.

I gave her a squeeze and pushed her away so I could look her in the eye. “Because you’re a victim of a horribly abusive monster and basically my twin sister. I’d do just about anything for Pen, so you should probably just expect the same treatment.” More hugging and sobbing continued after that.

It took a minute or two but I finally sat down in the healer chair, and when the screen blinked on I saw exactly what I had been looking for. A single class in the [Molten] element.

*Biosophist [Molten]

Low Grade

Description: Biosophists are the ultimate combination of medical science and magical healing. Capable of both powerful diagnostic magic and making permanent changes to lifeforms, this branch of healer can cure almost any ailment. However the overall potency of this class’s healing capabilities are poor at best.

Stats Per Level: 4 Mental, 2 Vitality, 2 Animus, 2 Magic, and 3 Manipulation

Main Skills: Molten Affinity, Bioshift, Medical Gnosomancy

Class Skill Slots: 4

Class Skill Tags: Molten, Healing, Knowledge, Science*

“What the hell is gnosomancy?” I asked. I mean I understood the root words, gnostic plus mancy was magical knowledge manipulation. That sounded a lot like mental magic to me though, and I thought that was a big no no.

“The ability to stream specific knowledge directly into your mind.” Mel said. “Technically the [Identify] skill is gnosomancy, but generally speaking no one thinks of it that way. It's the only type of mental magic the system makes available to mortals since it only affects your own mind.”

Alice shoved her face right next to mine so she could see the class I was looking at. “Wow… another dual-element class, we’re going to be awesome!”

The stats really weren’t all that much to write home about, but they were certainly a good bit better than [Bioshifter]. Alice was right though, two dual-element classes before level 200 meant we would be extremely powerful for our overall level. It was too bad I could max out most of my skills before classing up. If I had I probably would have gotten a few more stat points per level.

“Yeah, I mean this was exactly the class I was going for when I first went for a healer class. So this is obviously going to be my choice.” Before I hit the accept button I turned toward the floating Mel. “Thanks again Mel.” I gave her a little smile. “I don’t know when I’ll see you next since I’ll be sitting on my level 100 [Radiant Redeemer] class up until all my skills are maxed up.”

“Despite wanting to see you again, that’s probably a prudent choice. Plus it’s not like I won’t be watching. I can’t wait for your escape!” Mel happily twirled in the air. “You guys are going to kick some slaver ass!”

I chuckled. “I sure hope we will anyway.” I hit the accept button. My mind once again compressed as it was pushed out of Mel’s magical construct and back into my body. I was still paralyzed, but that didn’t stop the system message.

*You have classed up your [Bioshifter Curist] class to [Biosophist].*

*Level up. Biosophist level 101. You gain 4 Mental stats, 2 Vitality, 2 Animus, 2 Magic, and 3 Manipulation.*

*Level up. Biosophist level 102. You gain 4 Mental stats, 2 Vitality, 2 Animus, 2 Magic, and 3 Manipulation.*

*Level up. Biosophist level 108. You gain 4 Mental stats, 2 Vitality, 2 Animus, 2 Magic, and 3 Manipulation.*

*Your main skill Fire Affinity has become Molten Affinity.*

*Your main skill Bioshift has become the Molten element.*

*You gain the active main skill Medical Gnosomancy, level 1.*

*You have gained access to the Healing Ash active class skill.*

*You have gained access to the Churning Mind active/passive class skill.*

*Your class skill Immuno-boost has become the Molten element.*

*Your skills Critical Care and Enhanced Metabolism can now merge into the Regeneration active class skill.*

I quickly checked my new skills too.

*Regeneration

Prerequisite: Have a Molten Healing class

Type: Healing, Molten

Active

Range: Touch

Skill cost: Any up to Magic.

Duration: Up to 1 minute per level. Cancelable by the caster at any time, or by the target if their magical resistance is high enough.

Regeneration uses your and your target’s mana or mana regeneration to cause the body to regenerate at a massively increased rate. This spell causes a person to regenerate healthy cells using pure mana rather than their own personal store of metabolic energy. They will also reproduce lost life-critical bodily fluids at a similarly increased rate and greatly reduce the rate at which they are losing those fluids. While a person is affected by Regeneration they will be much more likely to survive life-threatening injuries if it would be possible for them to regenerate the damage. Using Regeneration will nullify an amount of mana regeneration from the target up to the amount of Magic used to cast the skill while it is active. Speed of regeneration increases with level and target’s mana regeneration is nullified less with level, likelihood of a person dying while under the effects of this spell decreases with level.*

This just seemed like [Critical Care] and [Enhanced Metabolism] put together. With the exception that I wouldn’t get the minor stat buff but in exchange it wouldn’t make people ravenous. Seemed like a no brainer to me. I immediately accepted the skill combination.

*Healing Ash

Prerequisite: Have a Molten Healing class

Type: Healing, Molten

Active

Range: An area within 5 ft of you + 0.1 ft per level

Skill cost: Any up to Magic.

Duration: Up to 6 seconds per level. Cancelable by the caster at any time.

Healing Ash causes ash to appear and drift around the area of effect. When the ash makes direct contact with a person it is absorbed by them and causes minor healing. This spell can affect both physical wounds and damage caused by diseases, but cannot cure the underlying cause if any. The ash will not provide significant cover, additionally any ash remaining when the spell ends will disintegrate harmlessly within 10 seconds of it ending. Amount of healing provided by the ash increases with level.*

An area effect heal! That was pretty exciting, although I wasn’t entirely confident it would be worthwhile to me with how I operated in a fight. I rarely had more than a few people around me, and I could just cast [Regeneration] on all of them. Plus I was a melee combatant so I would have to run away to use this effectively otherwise I would be healing my opponent. Hmmm well I’ll put it into the maybe category.

*Churning Mind

Prerequisite: Have a Molten class

Type: Molten, Knowledge

Active/Passive

Range: Touch

Skill cost: 3 mana regen/level and when cast on others up to 10 mana/level

Duration: When cast on others, up to 1 minute for every 10 mana spent. Cancelable by the caster or target at any time regardless of spell resistance.

Your mind gains aspects of a molten flow. Constantly churning, ever progressing, and entirely undaunted by obstacles. This skill will cause you to passively experience pain or detrimental mental states at reduced potency. Stress and pressure will seem faded while the skill is active. You may deactivate the skill on yourself anytime you wish and for as long as you’d like. You will pass the benefits of this skill onto others when you cast it on them, however the target must be willing. Amount of pain reduction and emotional dampening increases with level.*

Wow! An ability to reduce pain and calm my mind. This was incredibly useful both in combat and in a medical emergency situation. Plus I could use it on other people as a painkiller. My healing was never going to be instant like [Light] healers, so not feeling the massive gash in your side while it knit back together seemed perfect for me. I took the skill knowing there was nothing possible that could beat it out.

I decided to quickly check what [Medical Gnosomancy] actually did.

*Medical Gnosomancy

Prerequisite: Have a Biosophist class

Type: Healing, Molten, Knowledge, Science

Active

Range: Touch

Skill cost: Any up to Manipulation.

Medical Gnosomancy can stream diagnostic knowledge directly into your mind. When you cast the spell you must think about the exact types of information you require. Depending on the level of the spell and the amount of mana provided you will gain more and more detailed information about the target’s medical condition. The target must be willing regardless of spell resistance. Additionally, as the spell levels you will gain progressively more information about ailments you have encountered before automatically.*

Well it was pretty much exactly what I thought it would be. The ultimate diagnostic tool. If I had this, creating the cure for cancer would have been a lot easier.

I considered my skill line up in my [Biosophist class]. Firstly there were the main skills I couldn’t do anything to change, [Medical Gnosomancy], [Bioshift], and [Molten Affinity]. All of them were very useful so I probably wouldn’t change them even if I could. Then the other skill slots were; [Immuno-boost], [Regeneration], [Medicine], and [Churning Mind]. There all seemed to be pretty useful skills, the only one I could think about getting rid of was [Medicine], but it was giving a 108% experience boost to leveling all of my healing skills. That kind of boost did not seem worth dumping in exchange for an area of effect healing skill of dubious worth. Plus I could always just drop it for [Healing Ash] sometime much later down the road, the skill wouldn’t vanish from my available skill list.
