CHAPTER 02
Lord of the Forest
The dragon got used to the body and moved through the forest with ease. After her blunder she wandered the searching for something to eat. The rabbit like creatures were too cute when they looked at her with teary eyes and she released them unknowingly. Sadly predators almost never came near her so the only food source available was fruits and wild vegetables. It filled her with sadness that despite being a dragon she couldn’t eat any living beings willingly. The only time she could eat meat was when her instincts took over to appease her craving for flesh. Even then she strictly avoided places where human scents were strong.
She laid down next to a lake to flip over her imagined books looking for maps and encyclopedias from this world. Inside her imagination she shrunk herself to that of a midsized dog. Like this she could read the books with ease. In her large body it was hard to flip the pages without ripping or tearing them out. Luckily they always regenerated or to say returned to their original form. She didn’t understand how the previous dragon organized the information without making them into books. It was easy to find what was needed. There were unnecessary books showing nude women. Out of reflex she burned the book the moment it opened and it was erased from the memories too. Like this wiping out the memories was possible or to rewrite them. Since she didn’t have anything to do she stayed here to read. Thanks to that she almost finished with a quarter. While reading there were theories and facts that overlapped with her previous world knowledge, but contained wrong or false information. These were overwritten and placed back onto the shelves.
Satisfied with her work she exited her world and submerged into the lake. The water was refreshingly cold and not freezing. It was clean and deeper than it looked from the surface. She had no trouble swimming with her big body.
After emerging from the depth she felt an intimidating presence. Of course it was nothing compared to hers, but the monsters here would run before finding out the owner.
The owner of that aura was a bear like golden creature. His body reminded you of a grizzly bear with golden colored fur; however it was clear from its appearance that it was a powerful monster. The dragon didn’t move and observed the beautiful animal. She still couldn’t differentiate the monsters from regular animals, but from her perspective of strength it wasn’t even needed. Everything weaker than her was an animal, including the humans too, for now.
The golden beast came closer to the lake, leaned above the water and stretched its neck to drink. The way he drank the water imitated the human’s. It was because of it’s humanly face. At first it disgusted her, but after looking at it properly, the face made the creature into a majestic looking beast. From the chest area through the collar and the spine the fur was silver colored and slightly longer than the golden area. On its head was something similar to a deer’s antler with black color. Its head was covered by a mane, like that of a lion’s, however it only grew backward making it into similar to the human hair. His neck is longer that a bears. If compared than like a wolf’s. The limbs were masculine and ended in a paw with six fingers. At the end of its body was a flock of silver feathers that stretched out like a tail.

While being mesmerized with the colors, the beast lifted its head and looked at the dragon. She felt uneasy under that gaze. She stared back into its black eyes. The color of the black pupils almost merged with the colors of the eye. Frightening; that was all she could think. It wasn’t strength that made her think that, but the way the beast carried itself and the confident look in its eyes.
Racking her mind she opened her mouth.
“Hi. Good weather, isn’t it?”
After ending the sentence she felt embarrassed and wanted to sink onto the depth of the lake. A long silence followed. The dragon was so nervous and flustered that the water begun heating up until it produced bubbles.
Out of the nowhere the beast burst out laughing. She was dumbfounded. The dragon thought the monster didn’t have any intelligence and just looked that way. it was a huge mistake. The king like beast heartily laughed to the point that it couldn’t stand and laid down onto the grass.
“You’re funny.”
On a deep voice the beast spoke to her. As expected of a lion-bear mix. The voice was indeed that of a king’s.
“If you don’t come out, all the water will evaporate.”
After the beast pointed it out the water did felt warmer to her scales than before. She quickly exited the lake and sat beside the monster with a dazed mind, like an obedient puppy.
The beast giggled.
“I am Avamys, the lord of this forest. ”
“Huh?”
The dragon stared dumbly at Avamys, trying to process the information. According to the memories, the lord of the forest should be a dumb, gluttonous bird that looks like a chicken.
It seems my information is outdated. Need to update it or I might seriously die one day – is what she thought while trembling.
