CHAPTER 01
Desperate times call for desperate actions
The life of a dragon started to fade.
Under the deep slumber, that begun millennias ago the soul of this wise creature slowly lost its radiance. Before completely fading away from this world he tried to fulfill its only wish;
(I see.)
(I am disappearing…)
(My wish to entrust these memories might go unfulfilled.)
(Even then, I will try.)
Even with the possibility that this individual does not exist, the process to search for it begun. Scanning through worlds that no other creature visited before; all the planets and stars that gave off the faint spark of life.
(A sea of souls ──────)
(It is possible that no one exist to inherit them…)
[Searching the world for compatibility • • • • • •]
Finally after a long time of searching and following a thin line of magic,
[Potential soul has been found.]
No life signals were detected from the human being. A glittering light left the body and shot toward the sky.
[Soul is headed toward reincarnation.]
Hearing the announcement, the dragon panicked and cried out from instinct.
“Wait…”
“DON’T GO!”
Even though it was only a desperate struggle, to the dragon’s surprise the light ball stopped. The soul that was moving with the sole purpose to reach its new life sensed a slight hope toward a greater possibility in that cry. The dragon gazed into the soul and something deep within the sparks gazed back at him.
In the pure darkness that allowed only one path to be chosen the wish the mighty being yearned for created another. Startled, the soul turned back and reached out.
Taking the soul into itself the dragon met a young woman. It was the soul taking the shape that was convenient to use. Inside this world there was only the two of them. Within this realm, standing before each other the dragon offered its vassal to this woman.
“Even though my body is immortal and made of energy, my soul has a lifespan. I do not want the wisdom I had gathered to disappear into the nothingness. My soul… I am near death. ”
The dragon lowered its head as if kneeling infront of the woman.
“OH~ beautiful and pure soul! I am the lord of all dragons and governor of wisdom and spirits. Please listen to the plea of this arrogant existence.”
The woman’s form that was made from light flickered with the color of rainbow, as if smiling. Seeing this, the old dragon turned into a ball of light and floated toward the woman’s side. She embraced the mighty soul and squatted into an embryo pose.
This fake world that was like a dream disappeared, taking with it the ground the woman stood on. She floated in the nothingness, merging with the soul fragment she received. All the wisdom and memories flowed into her like water. She lost her human form and returned to being a ball of light, exploding and filling this realm.
The mountain shook as if the nature alarmed the world of the coming of a new life. Even though the body was mature and forever unchanging, the being that occupied it was young and curios toward this new world.

Somehow, after processing all that new information, I regain my “self”. Considering what happened it was a miracle that my sense of self remained; even the memories from before all this.
This new body felt as if being squeezed by some outside source.
I opened my eyes and although in darkness I recognized the shape and smell of rock and soil around me. It felt unpleasant.
As I wished to exit from this place “I” moved. Exerting all the strength I could, I stretch myself out. The loud crackling and rumbling sound of my prison could be heard. It seems the previous owner slept inside a cave that, with a long time passing by, became a mountain.
The scenery infront of me was a vast forest and rocky mountains. I got surprised, noticing that my size reached the height of a mountain; thought I don’t know the highest one on this world.
The first step into my knew home ──
Is what I intended, however…
My feet were instable and I fell onto the ground, causing it to shake. The trees near me got smashed into the earth like dry leaves. My eyes almost popped out. I started fearing my own body.
Still unreliable, but I learned to walk. Praising myself I heard swooshing sounds near the back. Noticing the pair of wings my joy was understandable. I.HAVE.WINGS.
Fufu~
With newfound energy for experimenting I spread my wings in a flash. It hurts!
The sudden movement of lots of different muscles after this long hurt. It was hard to move them, too. I got tired soon and stopped. Realizing that flying was not an option for now, I continued walking toward a forest, but…
Inside the forest it came to me; this body is too destructive!
(Ah~ I wish I was smaller~)
And so; somehow my wish was granted. I begun sparkling and the body started shrinking. Now, I only reached the size of a large pine tree-like tree.
Enjoying my new view-point a glanced around and found the first inhabitant of this world: a human.
It was a young woman… or lady?
She held a primitive basket and was gathering herbs and with some luck sometimes found edible vegetables and roots. She cheerfully collected them without a care to her surroundings. I wanted to observe her from closer and moved, but…
The ground still shook when I walked. Need to somehow become smaller…
The youngsters feet gave in and she ended up falling onto her butt. While panicking she turned around. The next minute she looked up, she stared into my eyes. Of course I stared back at her. I needed to squint my eyes to observe her, because she was small.
Staring at the woman I felt something weird inside my chest. No… Body?
Suddenly, complete darkness ────────
Wha-?
I blanked out for a moment and lost my sight. My mouth felt sticky and there was a taste of iron. I thought the fangs I’m not used to cut my tongue or something, but…
I catch myself chewing something and there is no trace of the woman from before…!
After analyzing the situation I quickly spit out the chewy thing in my mouth that – surprisingly – tasted like chicken.
To my surprise it was an arm. Seeing that, my body stiffened.
Rather… To live only an arm in a few seconds… The instincts of a dragon are scary!
It seems that before I even noticed my hunger the body already took actions. This was scary for a moment, but I shrugged it off as something dragonish, and without batting an eyelid continued my walk.
Note to oneself: “Need to learn to control myself…”
