CHAPTER 3.1 - Peace Was Never an Option

Astra sighed as she closed the livestream screen, ending a long day of Isekai management. Several hours had passed since the slime encounter, and the sun had setted quite a while ago.

"Good work today, Astra," Anubis said.

"THEY FINALLY STARTED SLEEPING!" she agonizingly exclaimed. "They kept playing fetch for an hour even after the sun settled. Are they crazy or something?!"

"And they lied down to sleep but didn't actually sleep until three hours later," he laughed. "I guess it's the adrenaline. It's not uncommon for the newbie heroes to stay awake like that in the first day or two."

"Still, three whole hours? Are they kids on Christmas eve or something?!" she said.

"Sometimes the kid in you never goes away," he explained. "You just are forced to oppress it."

Astra sighed as she got up from her chair and quickly desummoned it.

"Anyways! I wanna ask you something," she said, while looking at Anubis. "I know that that part of the project is yours to design, so I don't know your full plan yet... But why is the dog overpowered? Why not the human, like always?"

"Oh, that?" Anubis laughed. "It's simple! I thought it would be fun, that's why!"

"Because it would be fun?" she repeated. "What kind of reason is that?!"

"It is a cool idea! You haven't heard of anything similar yet, did you?" he defended.

"I haven't, but still..." she replied. "Look at Makoto's stats! They are too low for a hero!"

"I've managed dozens, if not hundreds of Isekais so far. Sometimes you gotta risk and innovate, or else they will get bored of this." he explained. "I have a few tricks up my sleeve, so don't worry! It will be entertaining!"

"Hope you're right..." Astra answered.

"Of course I am right!" Anubis interrupted. "You're still horrible at this! You don't even know about the basics?" he laughed. "Don't worry! With time and more effort you'll be as skilled as me," he added, with a smug smile.

Hearing this, her face looked slightly annoyed. "Guess all those years of experience didn't solve your inflated ego..."

"Hey, c'mon now! I was joking! I'm sorry!" he said. "We all know you are an excellent Isekai Manager! One of the best actually!"

Astra sighed. Anubis always made fun of her just because she was a younger and less experienced god in the field of Isekai management. If this was in the real world, Anubis would have been reported for workplace harassment.

"Apologies accepted," she smiled. "Now, no more slacking! Let's check the stats for today."

"On it!" Anubis said, opening a screen full of numbers and other kinds of information. "Zero troubles so far... Viewership looks great... And the peak was actually when they were playing fetch!"

"Oh. My. God." she said, covering her face with hear hands. "Seriously? We prepare this whole world with amazing forests, cool monsters and great vibes... And they watch a session of fetch?"

"I feel you," he laughed. "Well, maybe they wanted a little more action, a little more danger, y'know?"

"If that is the case..." she said, as she opened an immense list of names and images. "What if we prepare a little surprise for when they wake up?"

Anubis nodded his head, agreeing with her. "I like the way you think."

"Which monster should we summon?" she wondered.

"What about... This one?" he said, pointing towards a certain green-colored monster in an immense list of names and images.

"Oh, a classic," she said. "Every Isekai needs them."

"How many should we send?" he asked.

"Considering that Hachi is pretty powerful..." she mumbled. "How about three or four?"

"Sounds good to me," he said.

"I'll handle the summoning. Can you keep an eye on the two?" she asked.

Anubis nodded his head.

"This is gonna be fun!" she smiled, as she started developing her mischievous plan.
