Chapter 3:
We travelled about three hours at a running pace until we reached the forest and then we travelled a further two hours into the forest at a tracking pace for my benefit. After that my parents allowed me to take the lead and find my first prey. Before too long I came upon tracks of some kind of animal, however because all I had hunter were rabbits I couldn’t tell what it was so I asked for help identifying it. My parents then started to point out what to look out for to tell what it is and what size it is.
After spending some time learning all I can I found that I found a boar trail, and the boar was of average size and that the trail was some hours old, recent enough to be to be tracked. As I started to follow the tracks I made use of all the skills I developed with my rabbit training, I made my steps as light as possible, carefully placing my feet to avoid making noise and I made sure to not leave tracks of my own that could be followed.
After a couple of hours of tracking we came upon the boar grazing near a creek with running water. Using the creek noise as cover I went downwind of the boar and using the anatomy knowledge I got from different books about all sorts of creatures I located the best vital spots I could use. I decided on attacking the neck, with my claws stabbing from underneath and my fangs from above, so doubling checking there was no other animals in the area, I quickly and silently launched toward the boar.
All was going according to plan however the skin of the boar was tougher than I expected so my claws didn’t penetrate deep enough so I had to take another stab with my claws which game the boar time to slam me at the ground before it died. Although winded I was successful, so making sure nothing came to investigate the noise I started on dissembling the boar. After that my parents gave me their opinions and advise and we continued on.
After some hours of hunting it was late so my parents told me to find a suitable place for a camp and prepare it. I headed towards the creek from earlier and followed it for a bit, unable to find a cave I started making a camp with the nearby trees. After a few corrections from my parents the camp was done so we prepared for dinner and begun treating the leathers. We continued hunting and living in this forest taking only what we needed for two weeks before I found something amazing.
For a couple of days now my parents would allow me to hunt by myself since I did so well with them for two weeks. I was hunting for today’s meals like usual, I had my prey lined up and was preparing to attack when my instincts suddenly told me to wait. Being a beastman my instincts were important so I listened and stopped and that when I saw that an eagle, double the size of typical eagles had decided to attack the boar I was going for at the same time. With its swift and silent attack the boar was dead before it knew what had happened and the eagle started its meal.

The eagle, with its large size, blood red feathers and piercing, silver eyes had my attention completely and I decided I wanted it. Pulling out some leather straps that I had made, I slowly snuck up on the eagle while it was eating and using the straps I quickly tied its wings to its body and its feet together. With it tied up and unable to anything except stare I grabbed it and the boar and made my way to camp. When I arrived at camp mum was there but dad wasn’t.
When she saw me mum was clearly surprised, in one hand was a messily eaten boar and in the other was a tied up eagle twice the size of a normal one. After dropping the boar and slicing some meat off of it with my claw I offered the meat to the eagle, however the stubborn thing didn’t accept. Naturally mum question why I had the eagle, so I told her the truth that I wanted it and since she knew what I was like she quickly accepted it.
Although I had read a few things about taming I still asked mum if she knew the best method to tame an eagle and even though she wasn’t all that knowledgeable on it apparently my dad had tamed quite a number of animals in his adventuring days so I decided to wait for him. After a couple of hours of failing to feed the eagle dad returned and when he saw the eagle he made a few facial expressions, first surprise, second acceptance, probably because he too knows what I'm like and lastly amazement.
Before I could get a word off he starts talking, telling me that I managed to find a rare animal that is rarely seen, even he at one point tried to find one but failed. He continued telling me stories of his adventure to find an eagle like this and how he couldn’t find one since they travel the world in no real path so it’s really up to luck.
When he calmed down I asked what the best method to tame the eagle would be but it turned out to be normal, get the creature used to you, feed it, care for it and hope for the best. Since I now had the eagle we decided we had been in the forest long enough so we headed home the next morning. After we returned home dad started on an enclosure for the eagle since keeping it tied up isn’t good for it. It only took dad two days to build an adequate enclosure for the eagle so I release it inside, good news is that the eagle started to accept the food from me, guess it decided I wouldn’t harm it, and since it accepted food I decided to name it, since she was a she I decided on Ellie.
