I read the options two more times before my brain kicked into gear. These were my powers. Well one of them would be. I quickly eliminated Geos,Pyros and Mortos. Those abilities would be useful for sure but right now they didn’t do anything for me. More resources when I couldn’t deal with the resources I had would be stupid. What I needed was something that would help me survive. That meant either “Erudite Mind” or “Gift of Radiance”. I decided to think about it on the way back to the wall. The sun was cooking me and I didn’t have the desire nor the will to make any choices until I was comfortable. It took nearly twenty minutes for us to make it back. The statues were placed off to one side. The drones had taken surprisingly good care of them. I wasn’t sure if the drones had any kind of intelligence or if they could only do what they were ordered. Every attempt at speaking to them only resulted in a blank emotionless stare. I added it to the growing mountain of things I needed to research.
I climbed off of Rex and found a tree with a thick canopy. It wasn’t the same as my chair back home, but it would do. I turned my attention to my selections. Based on the names Geos,Pyros and Thanatos were earth fire and death. I had no idea what “Spira” meant. The only other word I could of think of was “Spiral”. Lumos was obviously light. Ultimately, the choice came down to what would be best for me today and that was “Erudite Mind”. Assuming everything I had heard was true, I need to grow stronger fast. My mark wasn’t going away anytime soon. I would need to have enough power to support myself. I made my selection.

Quest Requirements: Be between level 10 and 20
Well, that last notification was a bit of a letdown, but it wasn’t that bad. If he assumed that each trial required me to be in the next ten level gap. I should unlock all my powers by the time I hit level 50. I couldn’t even imagine what a level 50 version of this quest would be like. I could not take the quest on al — My thoughts trailed off as I remembered the scroll I found. I didn’t have to do this by myself. I could have help. I could have a familiar. I pushed down my excitement in order to focus on what I had to do. I had just gained another level, which meant I had points to spend. I placed four more points into Charisma, bringing it up 20. I wasn’t sure what to do with the last few points. I was going to drop them all into intelligence when I got a gut feeling. A feeling to invest into luck. I looked over my stats and, well; I wasn’t lacking in anything right now. Health wise I probably had more than most spellcasters at this level. Magic points could also be higher, but luck was still a wild card. I shrugged, committed to the plan for the next two levels. I would bring Luck up to twenty and then shift back to intelligence and Wisdom. I put the skill progression into my Lumos magic. I pulled up my status screen and reviewed the changes.

I was already 94% of the way to my next level, which was pretty dope. I felt pretty good about my stats, but I needed to meet some other people. Without knowing what the averages were, I had no way of knowing if I was ahead or not. It was frustrating! I stopped myself from going back and forth over what could be true. Ultimately, the only thing I could do was focus on what was in front of me.I was just about to pull out the scroll when I caught sight of something above me. The dull stone of the star on the wall had changed. The right most branch had turned from a dull white into the white of compact clouds. Staring into it was like watching a tornado twist and turn. The animated image lasted for a few moments before solidifying into the image of a tornado the size of a building descending to the ground. I waited a bit longer in order to see if the image would change again, but after several seconds, I turned away.
Once my shock ended I rubbed my hands together in excitement before checking the settlement menu. I had the full thousand points to play with, which should be plenty for my cast the spell. Next, I summoned the scroll from my ring and reviewed its prompt.

The yellowed paper felt brittle in my hands and I carefully undid the black ribbon. It fell to the ground, and I slowly undid the scroll. I received a notification asking if I wanted to activate the scroll after fully unraveling it. I selected yes and the edges of the scroll gained a deep orange glow started at the edges of the scroll before spreading inward. It looked like the paper was burning, only there was no heat. I let go of the scroll and instead of falling like I expected; it floated in the air. The scroll crumbled away, and for a moment, everything was still. Nothing was moving, but the world around me felt like it was charged with anticipation. I held my breath, afraid that if I did anything, it would shatter the strange stillness. It was like the moment before a swimmer broke the surface of the water. The split moment where you wait to see if the water will release them or not. The stillness was a destroyed when the canyon wall dissolved into nothing a moment later.
The massive star shone with five colors. The other three rays glowed as if answering the call of the brother. Each one facing one of the cardinal directions. The North one was a burning inferno of fire. Staring at it made me feel like I was going to be turned into ashes. The Right one was a pillar of radiant light. It was like staring directly at the sun. The Southern was a dark brown color that reminded me of freshly turned dirt. It was like walking through a forest before a rainstorm. There was even a faint scent with it. The fifth color was the most surprising. The middle dot of the star had turned from the black stone of the canyon wall into a black and grey color that felt like death. There was a desiccated hand reaching toward me from the stone. The hand was oddly calming to stare at. It felt like the moment just before you fall asleep. I barely had the time to process all of them before the star fell away as well. The entire wall turned the black of the night sky.
It took my brain a moment to realize I was staring at a moving image. “Outer space?” My words came out along with the breath I was holding. As if to answer my question, the vision focused in on a star. It had to be twice as big as the sun and coiled around it was a dragon the size of a planet. Its head was large enough to eat a moon. The creature turned as if it could sense my presence. I locked eyes with it and felt a primal fear run through me. It was like staring into the eyes of a predator. The hair stood up on my arms and the back of my neck. Every instinct I had told me to run. Just as I began to turn, a pain radiated from my back. The pain went from a prick to feeling like someone was branding me. I screamed in agony as the dragon’s attention was pulled in a different direction. I fell to my knees as the vision changed. Now instead of the one golden dragon, there were two. The second was a dark black and purple color that made me of the deepest and darkest of night skies.
The second dragon differed from the first. This one looked more like the traditional dragon. It was just as big as the first one, with two wings and four limbs. Its claws looked like obsidian blades and were the size of cars. Both dragons locked eyes with each other and let out roars that made my bones tremble. My instincts screamed at me to run, but something deeper inside of me made it clear that I couldn’t afford to miss this clash. Both dragons opened their mouths and let out twin breath weapons. One a bright gold and white color, the other a black and purple. Both cones of power slammed into each other. The combined attack unleashed a wave of power reminiscent of an atomic bomb. Stars began to wink out as a purple and gold spread out in a wave. The energy wave came for me and I searched for a way to close the connection. The settlement’s magic points were at zero, but I had no time to worry about that. I tried to cast a spell, to summon my magmite to attack the canyon wall, but nothing happened.
I brought both hands up to shield my face as the wave grew closer. Just as the light reached me, the vision exploded. Shards of light fell to the ground all around me like a snow globe before dissolving into nothing. I could hear my heartbeat in my ears as I looked around. The canyon wall had returned to normal. The star was back to its original dull color except for the light representing Spira. Even the burning in my back had faded. I slowly got to my feet and played back what happened in my mind. The dragons in the vision were amazing. The vision implied that outer space was a place a person could go here. Assuming that dragons weren’t some special species that could travel through the vacuum of space. Adrenaline rushed through my body as I replayed the moment their attacks crashed into each other. Were they gods? Could I be that strong? The excitement and adrenaline made me feel like I had drunken a gallon of caffeine. A blur of movement out of the right and left sides of my vision caused me to spin around. Both hands raised, ready to unleash fire and light at whatever was attacking me. My eyes widen when I caught sight of them.
For a moment, I had forgotten the point of the spell. The vision had consumed my focus completely that changed when I saw the two dragons. My eyes were drawn to the golden one first. It was three and a half feet long with fan-shaped golden dragon scales. The dragon was serpentine, with frills at the base of its head. Its head has two mouths; the bottom jaw of the smaller top set is part of the top jaw of the larger set. Its frills extended, making it seem like its head was at the center of a halo of light.. The dragon had four slender limbs with three sharp talons on each. A ruby sat nestled in the center of its head. Ivory eyes sat within the creature’s angular skull. Finally, its long slender tail ended in a sharp arrow head like tip.
As if sensing my attention, the golden dragon flaw at me. It stared into my eyes and for just a moment, everything fell away except for me and her. I wasn’t sure how I knew it exactly, but I could tell that the dragon was female. The next instance the feeling ended, and the dragon landed on my right shoulder. She coiled her tail around me, letting the tip sit in the center of my chest like a necklace. Once she stopped moving, I turned my attention to the other dragon. Where the gold one was serpentine and sleek, this one was bulkier. A smaller cousin to the massive black dragon.
It was two feet long with another foot and half for its tail. This dragon had onyx black scales going across the top of its body. Deep purple amethyst like eyes sat within its horned and narrow skull. A muscular neck connected to its body. Its underbelly and insides of its wings were a beautiful midnight purple color. Each of its four limbs had five thick onyx claws. Two black and purple wings grow, starting from its shoulders and end all the way down at its pelvis. The wings look demonic, with visible bones and curved talons like small scythes. The creature's tail ended in a sword-like edge with the same coarse skin as the rest of its body.
It flew in front of my face and just like with the other dragon, everything disappeared but me and him. Once the sensation ended, he took the place on my left shoulder. Its tail coiling around my neck. Once he was settled in, a wave of exhaustion hit me. It felt like the crash after drinking a gallon of caffeine. I turned and half stumbled over to the canyon wall. I placed my back against the wall and slowly sat down. I took a couple of deep breaths and then went over my notifications.
