The Oakley Opens
First case (Journal)

First case (Journal)

I'm Chloe Drumlin. I am a detective for a small town. Something I will never forget happened to me. Please, do let me explain.

It was late and I was going through my email. Then, something caught my eye. I got an email from someone named Jack. He wrote me this...

Hello, I'm Jack. Sorry if I’m disturbing a case but I need help. I live not too far away from the Oakley Opens.

I always thought something was wrong. It just gave me a bad vibe. On the second floor, I saw a light on and someone inside.

It was closed so no one should have been inside. It gave me a weird feeling like I was being watched. Then the person disappeared. The next morning I watched the news and it said someone was killed on the second floor of Oakley Opens.

Yesterday I saw the person again but it made me feel nauseous. I looked out one last time and went to bed. I hope this isn’t too much to ask for but could you check out what’s going on?

Good luck, Jack.

The store was pretty close so I decided to check it out. I remember it raining hard that night. I decided to drive to a hotel near there. I tried to get a room facing the window.

I bet you can understand how awkward that was. Yet, the lady decided a room nearby would be best considering the closest was taken. I still do wish to thank that lady.  To let her know to get far from there.

It was already late when I got to my room. The sky was dark already when I sat down. The window was big and nice. The room was even cozy.  I remember the rain starting to blur the window.

I decided to try to write down when I saw this thing. So I grabbed my journal. Time was ticking and I couldn't miss whatever this was. I kept staring at the time. Then, out the window.  I was starting to get impatient.

As soon as it was 11:59 I decided to try again tomorrow if I didn't see it at midnight. It felt like forever till midnight.  I saw the light from upstairs turn on! I was ecstatic! I started to write midnight... When I saw it.

A dark figure stared out the window. I couldn't even look away. I was thrilled but terrified. I couldn't move... I was shaking even. Then, I felt... Dizzy. My vision blurred and I felt sick to my stomach.

My pencil fell out of my hand. I snapped awake and wrote down everything. I didn't want to think it was a dream in the morning if it wasn't.

Midnight, I saw the creature Jack was talking about. No detail can be described.

Emotions: Dizzy, Sick, Tired, Terrified.

When I looked back it was gone. The room was dark. I felt like I was going insane! Which I must say wasn't wrong. I decided in the morning I would go see the room myself.

As I said and as I did. I remember waking up that morning tired but excited. When I went to the store I was nervous. But can you blame me? I was about to tell them I saw someone in their attic last night and people were suspicious.

As soon as I walked up someone was already at the door. She welcomed me in and showed me to the person in charge. Of course, he thought I was insane. Even saying that there was no window. Not one upstairs.

I ran outside to look for myself. He was correct. Not even one.

I felt terrified walking home. I remember walking home petrified. I know I saw it. Even Jack saw it.

That night was rough. I decided to go sit outside and wait again to see it closer. I remember that it was wet and cold. I sat down on the sidewalk with my pencil and journal and just... Stared.

I swear I saw it again but downstairs. I quickly went to check the time and things went black. That's how I'm here now. Writing in my journal.

I'm in a cell. It looks abandoned. I saw a guy in another cell across from me. I tried to ask him where we were, how, and who he was. He just said to be quiet.

I hope I can explain further soon to whoever reads this. If anyone does...
