Rooftop to rooftop, I run in the shadows looking for Mr Kingston’s house. Chase Kingston is a self centred douche who only cares about himself and unfortunately works for the captain of the guard. I keep a blade on hand just in case I run into any kind of trouble. And I do. I spot four guards closing in on my tail. I quicken my pace and try to loose them by going through a few back ally’s but they manage to keep up. At some point I end up at a dead end. I turn around and take out another blade. One that I had strapped to my thigh. With two of my sharpest blades in hand, I gut the guard closest to me and bash the next one in the back of the head with the hilt of my blade. Then a tall, well built man tries to come at me and so I punch him in the gut, making him double over so I can then knee him in the face, knocking him unconscious.
The fourth and final guard decides that it is a wise idea to pull out his sword. You would think that men like these would be armed to their teeth but no. Just one measly little blade. They could have at least sent someone who could be a challenge. Honestly, what do they think I am? A rookie? Please. He comes at me and I throw a roundhouse to the back of his head. Not expecting this he lets his guard down, giving me enough time to slit his throat while he isn’t looking. Too easy.
With that finally over, I set off again to go to Mr Kingston’s house. If he isn’t home, I swear by the Heskan God’s I will go on a killing spree until I find him. Lord knows I actually will. Quickly, yet efficiently, I scan the windows of every building I pass, until finally one catches my eye. It’s him. Sound asleep in his house, next to his wife, also asleep. The fools left the window open, leaving the perfect opportunity for someone like me to slip in unnoticed.
Without a sound, I creep through the room with my blade out. I sneak over to the sleeping man and his wife and silently plunge my dagger into his heart, ensuring an immediate and painless death. It was however, only a matter of time before the wife woke up and noticed. So I snuck back out the window, closed it, and hurried back to my best friends house. My stay there is only temporary as I am looking for a place to purchase for myself, however I am still very grateful for the hospitality and accommodation.
As I walk through the front door I remember something. I left the knife in the man’s chest. I wasn’t wearing gloves either. Fatal mistake. I cannot turn back now as the wife would have already woken up by now and noticed that her husband is dead. It is only a matter of time before she has the cops investigating the case. My fingerprints are all over the hilt of that blade. Perfect.

As I lay awake in my bed, I hear the front door open and close and I hear footsteps. I know it’s Evonny, so I don’t bother getting up to check it out. She walks past my door and sighs. It’s almost as though she is scared of something, I will ask her about it in the morning. I should get some rest now.

The next morning I wake up to the sound of a pan sizzling and the delightful smell of bacon and pancakes. I get up and walk down to the kitchen to investigate. Just as I suspected it was Kendrew, making breakfast.
“Morning Ev!” He says to me in a cheerful mood as he looks me up and down. I grumble in response because I am not exactly a morning person.
“I like your top today.” He points out, with a cocky smirk on his face.
“Oh fiddlesticks!” I curse at myself. I forgot to throw a T-shirt over my sports bra this morning. I was too busy worried about breakfast that I completely forgot.
Ken giggled at my response, finding it somewhat humorous. I run upstairs and throw a T-shirt on before running back down again.

“Here, I’ll help you” I say as I walk around the island to help him with breakfast when he stops me.
“No. You are in my house. You don’t need to do anything” he says. I ignore his words and help him anyway. It’s the least I can do for everything he has done for me.

The next few days consisted of me scoping out the areas for my little side missions and making preparations for the elimination of the royal family. As risky as our plan is, it is the only way to be able to get this done that doesn’t involve at least one of us getting killed… I hope.
“Ok. I have left enough evidence at all of my side missions to make the authorities consider me as a suspect. As much as I can’t stand the man, all I have to do now his go back home to Dontae and wait for them to take me in.” I say to Drew as we are standing around a table that holds a map of the city and every little grate and possible escape route for if things go south.
“And you’re sure about this?” He asked me. “You are absolutely sure that this is going to work?”
“That’s what I’m banking on”
“Ev, if this goes south… you do know what the consequences would be right?”
“Yeah, public humiliation and then execution. I know. Honestly it’s times like these where I wish I had chosen a safer job like a vendor in the markets or something like that.” I say to him with a small giggle.
Kendrew just rolls his eyes, completely aware of every possible thing that could go wrong.
My face goes serious again. “Look. I know that there is a lot of risk to it. But it’s the only way we can get this done. I need you on this ok? I need you to be there if things go south.”
“I know. And I will be. But I just can’t shake the feeling that so
Something is going to go wrong.” I can tell he is being serious. He has a look of genuine concern on his face. Honestly, I get it. If this goes wrong, and I get the wrong sentence, I’m going to need him to get me out of trouble.
“I should probably go. I wouldn’t be surprised if the cops already showed up at my house looking for me.”
“Ok.” He said to me. “Oh and Ev?”
“Hm?” I turn to him as I reach the door.
“Be careful.”
I give him a confirming nod and with that, I leave.

I was having one of my usual arguments with Dontae about who knows what when suddenly we here a loud: Bang! We both looked towards the door and a bunch of cops came in. All armed. All dangerous.
“OH DID YOU CALL THE COPS ON ME EV?! IS THAT IT?!”
“They are there for you. As much as I want to call the cops on you sometimes, I wouldn’t do it unless you actually committed a crime. I on the other hand, have committed several.” I say to my biological father before getting interupted.
“Evonny Maher, you are under arrest for the murder of the following people:
Chase Kingston
Ivory Jacobs
Alexander Betts
Lucien Geffories
Ethan Woodrick
Nathanial Hems
Olivander Franklin
And so, so many more.” One of the officers said as another one put me in handcuffs. “You have the right to remain silent and everything that you say can and will be used against you in the court of law—“
“Hey, what’s going on here? Why is my daughter being arrested?”
“Oh please like you actually care. You have never cared about me a day in your life.” I retort.
“Sir, your daughter is a known criminal. She has murdered countless men and women across the city and there has been a warrant out for her arrest for years.”
“Well if that’s the case then why arrest her now? Why wait so many years to have her arrested when you knew it was her all along?” He starts to get a bit agro and has a temper tantrum like the child that he is.
“Sir you need to calm down—“ Said the same cop, but got Interrupted by a chair being thrown at him. The cops keep yelling at Dontae as they take me away and into the carriage that is waiting for me outside.
Due to my struggling, to put on a show to make it look like being arrested wasn’t part of my plan, the cop sitting next to me, in the back of the carriage, ended up knocking me out. Unnecessary but whatever.
