It was harder than Ivo thought.
Keeping his mind focused on the fact that they weren't real, they had been following them since the beginning though they kept their distance.
If that was all they had to face until they got out of the mountains, then Ivo was beginning to appreciate the plan until things went worse.
As they made another turn, the light seemed to grow weak or rather the tunnels seemed to grow even darker, Ivo could hear a constant rhythm now like a heartbreak. He avoided touching the walls, he would rather not add dealing with voices to this.
His eyes scanned the dark area trying to adjust, he could hardly see Jakob in front of him just the continuous pull of his wrist that showed that they were still tied to someone at the other end.
“Jakob?” Ivo called out.
“Huh? You need something?” Jakob replied, “but…” Ivo simply swallowed.
“Nah I'm good just making sure you haven't been eaten.”
“Well, I won't make the exact best meal would I?”
“Yeah, you Right—”
Ivo grew silent immediately as he heard a groan above them. Jakob must have heard it too as he too grew silent, he felt the rope pulled as he slowly looked up.
“Did you hear that?” Jakob asked in a light whisper which traveled loudly because of the echo of the mountain.
“You mean the red eyes staring at us from above?” Ivo asked.
Jakob looked up and gasped.
This one was real Ivo thought as Rolan signalled for them to run.
They ran down the mountains as the groaning grew louder and loud steps from above them chased them.
“Fuck fuck fuck!!” Ivo screamed as the ropes were slowing them down and making them miss their steps.
“We have to cut the ropes” Jakob called out.
“No, we would rather not get separated” Ivo replied.
“Whatever that is, it won't have a problem tearing us apart” Jakob replied.

It was true, the groaning was growing louder, Ivo swallowed. He has to make a choice, and fighting that wasn't exactly a good one. It was faster and had the advantage of sight.
“Ah just fucking cut it” ivo screamed as he felt his hand drop immediately relieved as the rope cut, and they ran again deep into the darkness.
Ivo tried as much as he could to keep track, he made the turns as they did and even occasionally screamed their names as often as he could, the loud steps of the creature covered some of the name-calling screams but most times he usually got an answer.
Well, he didn't. It was just a short window. He was sure they all made a right turn when he couldn't hear their footsteps anymore, all of it was gone—both creature and all.
“we should not have cut the rope!” Ivo screamed to himself as his eyes scanned the dark room, he was practically dead with no source of light or vision and he was alone.
He stopped moving and took deep breaths. Ivo remembered something about your other senses growing more sensitive when you lost your vision. He had to trust his ears and any other senses that he had.
The entire place was silent, Ivo from experience knew that meant two things. Either he had stumbled upon the only safe place in the entire mountain, or he had stumbled upon the most dangerous and judging from the look of things it was the second option, and he was right as he heard a whistling sound from behind him.
“Can't I be wrong for once?” Ivo asked himself as he rolled away from the sound.
The ground exploded behind him before growing silent again.
Really? Explosions? How is that fair? Ivo thought as he reached into his bag to pull out his crossbow.
I didn't need to see them, I just need to hear them he thought as he pulled back from the raging explosion.
At least there was light now Ivo thought as he saw a figure running above him. Ivo raised his bow to aim as the figure ran pass him.
Wait, Ivo thought as he slowly dropped his bow.
Was that a human? Ivo thought as the figure stared at him.
It was a human, a female, Ivo was sure about that. Both him and the figure locked eyes for a few seconds as it lifted a black ball throwing it towards Ivo.
Ivo raised his bow in response, but the figure didn't move as the ball flew pass him exploding behind him, the shockwave threw him to the ground as he turned to see a giant reptile creature slithering on the ground with flames engulfing its body.
I hate reptiles. Ivo thought as he turned to face the figure who was now gone.
Fuck Ivo said under his breath as he jumped to his feet and ran towards the direction where he saw the figure.
He could see her jumping down the rocks, she stopped to look at him hissing before she continued her climb down. Well, I hope that meant follow me Ivo thought as he jumped down and followed her.
If it wasn't Rolan that had been holding on to Jakob, he was sure he would have lost him in the mountains too. Jakob called out for Ivo but he didn't get any reply.
Rolan waved the torch at him to see his face. He nodded at Jakob, asking if he was okay? “Yes sure” Jakob replied as he turned to go back, but Rolan held him.
Jakob knew Rolan was far stronger and struggling was going to be vain.
“We have to go back and find Ivo” Jakob called up, but Rolan didn't respond and just held on to him.
“Come on, he is our friend. Well, technically he doesn't qualify as a friend yet, but he had a plan to save Ida and I don't, so he is very important” Jakob said hoping to convince Rolan but he still didn't let go.
Suddenly Rolan let go as he pulled his sword pushing Jakob behind him. Jakob wanted to complain, but the black mass crawling on the wall shut him up.
“What the hell is that?”
