Chapter 1: Nirigamo and the power of torment

I said nothing to Zee’s response as I walked through the nation. Harpies were everywhere. There were some big harpies as well as small, some had colorful wings and others had one colored. There were even some that seemed like they were hybrids of a completely different race. However, they tend to turn mostly human at any given point. I have no idea what is causing this transformation, but the only thing that proves that they are harpies are their wings. Normally they look like a bird. They have the claws and their arms are wings which help them fly, but when they aren’t flying anywhere they look like angels with different wing colors, and sizes. Even though this is the nation of torment, the people look like they are full of life. How can that be though? Zee told me that the people within the torment part of the nation are dead inside, and that they only reproduce so they could continue their bloodline.

“It seems like refugees from the main city have come to rely on the goddess of torment.” Zee said as he leaned on a statue.

“Why would refugees from the main city come to the most terrible part of the nation?” I asked as I sat down in front of the statue.

“It’s because of that deal their goddess made 1,000 years ago.” Zee said as he leaned his head on the altar of the statue.

“Does anyone know the trap that her own brother set for her?” I looked up at him.

“The only one who knows about the trap is the goddess of torment herself.” Zee said as he looked down at me.

“Of course she is. Since she is a god it’ll be very hard to get to her.” I sigh heavily as I put my head back on the statue.

“Sir Lumiere!” Zee called out as I looked up and saw the stone statue pick me up and leave with me.

When we were a safe distance away from Zee I felt something die within me. I stood there calm as can be, unable to get mad at this statue that had just taken me away from my own butler. Of course, it didn’t say a single word as it waved at me then walked closer to me. Once the statue was close enough it knelt down and grabbed my face. That’s when it started. That’s when cracks formed on the statue and I was in a room filled with the people I care for the most. My sister, and Zee were in this room with me. I sat there in the room chatting with them and even giving my sister something she really loved. I ended up making Zee uncomfortable again therefore, he refused to talk to me. I was unarmed as I just enjoyed my time with the both of them. It was only then when this slice of heaven started to glitch.

I tried my best to call out to both Zee and my sister but they were unable to hear me. Just when I went to hug my sister she disappeared and my hands were covered in blood. Shackles connected by chains attached to the wall were around my wrists. I then heard screaming coming from behind me and turned around and saw someone torturing my sister. Right when I was about to say something Zee comes up to me and flashes a painful smile at me as he puts his cold hand on my cheek.

“Zee dont…. I already lost my sister.” I say sorrowfully.

“I’m sorry sir Lumiere…. Please…. Take care of the other servants for me….”

“No… You’ll take care of them yourself when we get home….” I say as I put my hand on top of his.

Tears fell down his face as he slowly shook his head, keeping a smile on his painful face. I quickly wiped the boy's tears as a shadow of a man came up behind him and shot him in the head. In that very moment the things that were only partially gone were now completely gone. My taste, my touch, my happiness, everything was gone. There were only two things on my mind within that moment and that was revenge and death. I stood up and reached out, and grabbed the man by his neck. I squeezed harder and harder until I felt a kick that sent me flying into a mountain. The reality I was in felt all too real therefore I never returned to how I was originally. I had no idea that one of my sky blue eyes turned completely white and had the symbol of torment within it. I also had no idea that I was using magic at the time when I recovered from being kicked into the mountain.

While I was still in a trance of believing that the reality I just saw was real I moved my hands unconsciously. I was only thinking of getting back at the person who had killed Zee, as well as my own death. Chains came from the ground as well as the sky just to capture the person who was charging at me. Whenever they got close I dodged and shot them. I would then use the chains trying to capture them again, but every time one got ahold of him he would break it instantly. He would then pull out a gun and shoot at me but I caught all the bullets between my fingers and even one in my mouth. I then spat out the bullet in my mouth and threw the bullet back at the man who shot me. I would say that took him out but it didn’t, all it did was slow him down a bit. It wasn’t until he disappeared right before my eyes and spoke that I was aware of my actions.

“Sir Lumiere…. It’s okay I am still here with you.” This deep and gentle voice belonged to Zee.

Not long after I realized I was in a false reality I ended up passing out. Once I did I started to fall to the ground but Zee caught me. I could feel his cold hand not only through his gloves but through my own clothes as well. He then picked me up and walked with me in his arms taking me somewhere. Once I woke up I was blind once more, but I could feel the disapproving gaze of my own butler from the side of my bed.
