Chapter 16 - So You Thought

“Kill? He won’t listen to them, right?” Shade’s worry couldn’t be erased by Rom who had no idea what her professor was going to do and could only look at his unmoving back hoping for the best. “I am not entirely sure Shade.”

The still body turned around revealing cold murderous eyes. Rom knew if Hash wanted her dead, she would be and there was absolutely nothing she could do to prevent it.

“Watch closely. This is a fight between three elite cleaners,” Hash announced.

“You think so highly of yourself because I only see two elites and a person who doesn’t know they just dug their own grave,” the husband scoffed while him and his wife equipped brass knuckles to their hands.

Hash’s cold eyes were soon paired with a sadistic smile that chilled Rom and Suke to the bones just before vanishing from their eyes along with the couple. What quickly followed were patches of grass being kicked up into the air as if an invisible tornado was sweeping around through the field.

“Three cleaners are fighting and I can’t even see it. Just my shitty luck,” Suke cursed, moving her head back and forth trying her best to comprehend what was happening.

Five minutes had gone by and the couple and Hash reappeared. “Have we entertained this misdirected hate enough yet? I would hate to kill off parents who care deeply about their child.” Hash’s sadistic smile spoke louder than his words and the couple only saw a person who wanted to kill for joy.

As two quills flew around a tired out husband and wife, they could only give each other baffled looks. “Our tresa’s are having no effect on him,” the husband whispered to his wife. “You don’t think I know that already. We need to split. You distract him while I go for the gloom. If he truly wants to protect her then he may leave himself open for an attack and you take it.”

Mr. Victus wasted no time enacting his wife’s plan and started to fight Hash by himself. Once the two locked their hands together in a bout of strength, Mrs. Victus went for Rom believing her husband could keep him at bay but two simultaneous snaps were heard followed by a shriek. The wife quickly turned around to her husband on his knees with broken bones protruding out of his forearms.

“Fuck! You piece of shit!”

The wife rushed over to her husband's side but instead of expressing care, “How could you let him do this to you? You’re lucky only those girls are able to see this embarrassing state you're in.”

A quick whistle came from Rom gaining the couple’s attention. Followed by a point up to the sky showing the notary sphere.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

The wife gripped her husband’s shoulder in anger. “No, no, no! How long have they been watching?”

Hash walked passed the couple saying “Well Ms. Dorfmure and I were in the middle of something being witnessed by the Seraphic Sept before you two interrupted us. So everything has been seen since you two stepped onto the field but I am willing to make a deal.”

Mrs. Victus scoffed at Hash. “In what world would we make a deal with the likes of you? Don’t take my husband’s blunder as a sign that we are equal in anyway.”

“Maybe we should here him out,” the husband said in which the wife responded “Shut it.”

With his sadistic smile subsiding, “If you two agree to stop this pursuit of revenge against Ms. Dorfmure and to never harm her, then what was recorded and witnessed today which included you two will never be used by me in any capacity. Like me showing all of the Exalted Skies the video of the Victus family heads being humiliated by someone deemed an abomination.”

The wife’s face flared up. “You little—” but before she could finish, “We will take the deal,” the husband voiced.

Quickly turning to him, “Are you out of your mind. I will not have this failed lab rat look down upon our name!”

“Sara! I am bleeding out from both my broken arm! We are taking the fucking deal and that’s the end of it!”

She was silent for a moment before saying under her breath “Fine.”

Rom watched as Hash and the couple sealed their deal just as she did with her professor via the notary sphere. Once everything was said and done, the husband and wife left the field.

“I will say this Rom. There is never a dull day with you,” Suke stated dropping to grass in relief.

“You still want to be my roommate?” Rom asked plopping next to her.

“Yeah and I finally got my side of our room just how I like it and it will be a hassle to do it all over again.”

The girls let out a laugh knowing their situation was far from amusing. Hash on the other hand had a frown. “Well now I missed the beginning of my show and it’s the season finale. Ms. Dorfmure, hopefully something good came from the little distraction from your task. For instance, was there anything you was able to notice or see?”

Rom got up from the ground thinking while Suke mentioned “Shoot. I wasn’t able to see majority of the fight from how fast they were moving.”

But I was, Rom figured out. “I was able to see everything. Well just barely. You wasn’t trying to hurt them for most of the fight I believe. You kept dodging and blocking their attacks.”

Suke shot up from the ground. “You were actually able to see their moves? Was it because of that optic memory thing you did?”

Shade fluttered in front of Suke’s face saying “Yes and I was able to complete it on my first try!” Unfortunately Suke couldn’t hear the quill’s excitement due to the telepathic link only being between it and its bond.

“Shade said yes and seems to be taking all the credit for it.”

“Well not all. Maybe ninety percent,” Shade responded fluttering onto Rom’s shoulder.

A clap came from Hash who then waved Rom over to him. “Optic Remembrance is the actual name of the technique and lets continue the task at hand.”

Now standing inches away from her professor, Rom decided to take a different approach from her previous swift attack attempts, and just slowly reached out to touch him. Hash grinned as he proceeded to grab her arm. The same action he did multiple times which ended with Rom being slammed to the ground.

I finally see it. Rom wasn’t fast enough to prevent his hand from grabbing her arm but that was never her goal. As her body was being forcibly flipped around by just a single hand, her right foot just barely nipped his chin before being slammed to the ground.

Hash wiped his chin with the back side of his hand. “I can finally go watch my show.”

Rom smiled and shot her hands up into the air shouting “Yes!”
