Okha, New Canteria. July 8th, 2064
It was a busy day. People were walking around the city center either going to work, sightseeing, having fun or just going somewhere. One specific individual, a man named Ivan Nile meanwhile was trying to find a bus to a military base as he was recently promoted as an officer in the air force.
Ivan turns a corner and finds one of his friends, Jack Wilson. "Mornin.", "Morning to you too. You know a bus that goes to Okha Airfield? I am literally running in circles right now. Fuckers shouldn't have built a city that has three streets with the same name in it.".
"Turn a left and go straight, theres a bus stop" Jack points at the nearby street. "How far?". "I dunno. I'm not your GPS." Ivan sighs and walks off. "Alright see ya." Is the last words he said before turning the corner. Ivan turns the corner and walks with his head down.
"Look out man!" A passerby says before Ivan hits his head on something. Ivan holds his head in pain. "Fuck. The hell is this?". The thing that Ivan hit his head on was a gate like structure. On closer inspection the structure had a combination of metal and stone as well as support that looked like marble. Ivan looked up at the structure and was dumbfounded on how it got here.
Ivan stared at the gate. "What in the fuck?" All of the sudden a roar rang out from the gate and a wyvern like creature flew out and started to find its prey in the crowd of Okhans that had formed prior. The wyvern like creature stared at the crowd and looked directly at Ivan and the crowd beside him and proceeded to give the most loud and genuine roar they have ever heard.
"OH SHIT!" Ivan brought out an automatic CGP9 pistol out of instinct and aimed his sights on the creature. Once it got close enough, Ivan and some other civil defense personnel opened fire. The concentration of fire widened and started hitting its wings and body due to the recoil of the machine-pistols but eventually the concentration of fire was put on the head of the wyvern creature. As soon as the 10mm bullets hit the wyverns head, it exploded. Leaving only the body of the wyvern intact.
Ivan meanwhile was staring at the wyvern. He then remembered something. "Wait... isn't this how the Ginza Incident played out? Oh no." Ivan orders everyone to evacuate and is supported by the civil defense personnel who lead most of the crowd through manholes or into trucks, while Ivan runs to a nearby phone booth and dials the number for the local police department.
Other side of the gate. Luspiera Hill, Ashait.
A royal guard ran to a person who was the queen of Ashait."Your highness. We have lost a wyvern.". The queen stared at the royal guard menacingly. "How so." The royal guard gulped in fear of the consequences if he doesn't say the report right.
"One of the wyverns were let loose accidentally by our wyvern knights and it flew into the gate. After it did we heard a sound that could be only be considered as horrifying. The wyvern knights are asking you reconsider this invasion-". The queen having enough of it brought out a revolver and shot it into the air. The said revolver was a experimental 6 shot pistol that was reverse engineered by a stolen Kudroenian revolver.
"We are going into the gate understood? If those wyvern riders wont get in line then ill." The queen turns the revolver a notch and finds an unfired bullet. Albeit awkwardly, the queen finally finds the empty shell and ejects it to load another bullet in. "Ill do it myself." The queen tries to look cool to the royal guard but he makes a straight face.
"Leave.". "Yes your highness.". The royal guard leaves to order the wyvern knights to proceed with the invasion. The queen however tightened her grip on her revolver. A close friend of the queen, Yijun, goes up to her on a horse. "Is something stressing you out Zhou? Im willing to listen."
"Yijun. I can't afford to lose this battle. The Kudroenian empire is at our doorstep with superior technology and is probably planning to invade the north. It is my duty to prevent the loss of this kingdoms influence over the world. Especially after their emperor, Alexander demanded that we cede our northern territories." Zhou looks down but she looks back up as Yijun is about to speak.
"I know its impossible but what if the people beyond the gate are more advanced then us? What if they are more advanced than even the Kudroenian empire?" Zhou stares at Yijun and looks to the direction of the nearby sea. "If they do then we will not survive this invasion." And with that their fates are sealed. Zhou orders the army to enter the gate.
The army then follows suit to meet darkness and a bright light at the end. And after walking a long distance they find nothing. No people. It is like they stepped into a ghost town. Debris and everything one would have. The army spreads out to let the wyvern knights roam the nearby cityscape but it doesn't really help as the tall skyscrapers almost kill two wyverns by collision. But what they don't know is that everybody ran off to a nearby district or is either hiding in their homes or in the manhole tunnel system. Waiting with any weapons they could find in their property's ranging from kitchen knives to military grade firearms. All waiting.
But they would be a second wave. If things go to plan then Civil Defense would clear them out. However if they didn't succeed then Chinese triads, Japanese yakuza, American gangs and Russian mafia would all lead the charge. While an infantry division from Salkhain, special forces, civil defense and armed civilians would help clear out the rest. The reason why organized crime helped was because they had already settled their differences after the report of a overhyped lizard came and started trouble... and also the fact that they assisted the republicans in the New Canterian civil war a few decades prior.
A general of the army raised a sword up into the air. "As of today. THIS LAND BELONGS TO THE EMPIRE OF ASHAIT!" The army cheered but there is a saying about New Canteria. Behind every brick or slab of concrete, there is always a New Canterian gun aiming directly at you.
All of the sudden a bullet hits the generals sword. The sword then broke in half with only a strange back piece remaining on the top of the sword. And on cue multiple purplish flashes appear from the supposed debris. On further investigation the debris was actually cover for machine gun nests and ordinary troops. A common disguise used for urban combat.
Multiple bullet holes go through the soldiers as they scramble to bring out their swords and muskets. Once they are prepared the musketeers fire and manage to hit several civil defense personnel. But civil defense still has the upper initiative. Until, the swordsmen turn their swords 180 and hold them like rifles, the civil defense personnel look at the swordsmen confused until they realize. Ashait has some dirty tactics as well.
Several blasts occur and destroy some of the road that the civil defense personnel are on. The following debris then causes more damage as multiple people die. A civil defense officer grabs his radio as his machine gunner has gotten hit by a piece of debris to the head. "THIS IS CCD-28! WE NEED REINFORCEMENTS IMMEDIATELY I REPEAT, WE NEED REINFORCEMENTS NOW!" A black sphere with a lit fuse then rolls into the nest. The officer then realizes a second later.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
Bombs.
A nest blows up with a blue explosion and the other personnel fight for their lives as half of their ground force was wiped out from what was basically a overcharged firework. But eventually death takes most of them as the invading army has the numerical advantage. Eventually the numbers of the civil defense personnel are bogged down to one injured soldier. He drops his rifle as he is in mortal anguish from the amount of debris and musket balls he has been hit by. "ARGHHH!" Is all he says for the most part. Until a general approaches him.
"Whats your name soldier." The civil defense officer gains the ability to talk comprehensively after his pain is nulled by the destruction of his pain receiving nerves. A clear sign his condition is getting worse, aside from all the blood he's leaking. "Agh. Seeing as my time is limited i guess i can tell you. Adam."
"Why Adam has your army of prestige as to even damage the royal army, lead such a feeble resistance against ours?" Adam scoffs at the general. "Prestigious army? Don't make me laugh. This isn't a army, heck im not even the commander of this one. You killed him already." Adam starts laughing in joy of the naivety of the general as he is slowly going insane.
"Haha. If you think this was a army then good fucking luck. Hehe, by your logic you are gonna be facing demons! Grey ones! Those demons will do things that i cant do. Such as obliterating your entire country! YOU WONT BE SAFE FROM THE WRATH OF ANY OF THEM, SPACE, THE SEA, THE AIR HECK, EVEN THE LAND! My condolences to you as you will suffer a eternal fear of them. Mark my words. Or don't because..." Adam brings out a grenade and detonates it. Most of the soldiers nearby him die on the spot by shrapnel but the general gets off with a large scratch as he ran off before it could detonate.
"Are you alright?" A wyvern knight says after he landed. The general stares at the knight. "This land is a call for concern. The army in this world is full of insane maniacs who wish the downfall of their enemies. A young knight warned me about this otherworldly kingdom being in an alliance with grey demons. If that is true then we need to reconsider our invasion." The general walks back to the queen while the wyvern knight is left confused. If only he knew.
Meanwhile in the nearby sea of Saumack, the Ashaitian first to sixth great fleets are stationed around another portal that recently opened into a unknown sea.
Sea of Saumack/Okhotsk, Ashait/New Canteria
"Steady the ship!" The captain of the third grand fleet, Yuhan, yells out. The flagship of the six great fleets as well as the guarding ships rocks heavily due to the waves caused by the storm. Such is the misfortune of the third fleet.
In the Ashaitian navy there is a common joke about the third great fleet being a charm of horrible luck as every time they set sail they encounter a storm. Because of this they are known by the nickname of 'storm cursed fleet'. But this doesn't stop them from being sent out to war as they have gained numerous victories even during said storms. Thus the official name of the third great fleet. Now they have been deployed out to sea with the other fleets to go through a gate.
Yuhan sees the gate in the distance. "Alright gentlemen! Today we set sail into the unknown. The queen of this kingdom has ordered we invade the nation behind the sea gate!" The crew let out a enthusiastic roar as they continued moving the flagship. Yuhan thinks, 'Heh this is too easy. Invade the nations beyond the gate? They are uncivilized barbarians! Our kingdom aside from Kudroenia is superior above all! Just you wait your highness. You will see a sea dominated by the great fleets!'
The ships approach the gate and enter. After waiting for awhile the great fleets emerge from the gate and see a clear sky and a nice sea. No storms in sight. Yuhan smiles seeing that no ship is there to compete with the great fleets. Until she is interrupted by a crew member. "Captain! Ship detected on starboard side!" Yuhan looks at the port side and sees a fishing trawler collecting well... fish. Meanwhile the crew of the fishing trawler dials the New Canterian governments space force as, fun fact; New Canteria does not have a officially recognized navy. The space force handles all naval related actions.
Meanwhile a metaphorical 4 minute countdown activates as the space force heads to the sea of Okhotsk. The great fleets however, are oblivious to this metaphorical countdown. "How shall we proceed captain?" The crew member says.
"Observe them. I suspect attacking them would be fatal as they have ironclads." Yuhan orders the ships to be steered directly at the fishing trawler.
3 minutes.
The ships get close to the fishing trawler and a boarding ensues. "Woah who are you guys? You certainly aren't cosplayers!" A fisherman says. "Ahoy. We are the six grand fleets of Ashait. I am the captain of these grand fleets, Yuhan." The fisherman looks back and sees his buddy going through the control center trying to find the Remington 870 that they put for self defense. The fisherman looks at Yuhan again, this time securing that he has a Colt Revolver in his back pockets.
"Are you cosplayers?" The fisherman says again after starting at the two crew next to Yuhan that are holding flintlock muskets. "Cos-players? I don't know what you barbari- sorry, people are talking about." Yuhan almost slips up and calls the fishermen barbarians. The fisherman tightens his grip on the colt revolver.
2 minutes.
"If you are roleplaying too hard then say it right now. Those muskets don't look like fakes." The fisherman says. Once again Yuhan is confused but now she is prepared to grab onto her flintlock and shoot the fisherman. "What is even that? Barbarian." Yuhan lets go of her calm demeanor and switches to her true personality.
"Honestly. You barbarians make all sorts of words that don't make sense, such is the uncivilized world. I bet you didn't even create this ironclad and you stole it from a greater empire." Yuhan scoffs unknowing of the fact that she is increasing the tension on the two ships as well as the fact that the fisherman worked for said 'greater empire'.
"Alright look miss. You are starting to piss the two of us off. If you're are roleplaying then here's your chance to tell me. We are going to have to resort to violence if you don't stop the tomfoolery." Yuhan laughs at the fisherman who has completely brought out his colt and is ready to swing it into a firing position. Yuhan however holds her flintlock as well. But the farmer has the quicker draw. "What are you going to do? Throw a rock at me-".
*bang*. 1 minute left.
The head of the crew member next to Yuhan gets shot a golf ball sized hole through it. Yuhan barely has time to respond as the fisherman cocked his revolver again and aimed it at the other crew member. *bang*. The crew member died on the spot. Yuhan brings out her flintlock but the fisherman already has it aimed at her. "They didn't call me the fastest gunslinger in Manchuria for no reason." A bullet then flew towards the fisherman which he dodged. The quartermaster of the second fleet held a rifled flintlock at the fisherman.
"Tch!" The fisherman pushed Yuhan down the gang plank into a pair of crates. Once finished he signaled his buddy to switch places and let him drive while his buddy held them back. The fishing trawler took off as fast as it could into the sea.
30 seconds.
"Oww." Yuhan said while getting up and holding her head. "Orders captain?" A crew member said. "Turn to port side and fire the lower cannons! We cant let them get away!" The crew member complied and the flagship as well as some guard ships turn port side.
15 seconds.
The ships completely turn port side and fire on the fishing trawler. Luckily all of the shots miss. "Aim the upper cannons!" Yuhan orders. The cannons aim up. "FIRE-"
0 seconds.
Suddenly three Arnket class airships show up to the battlefield. The crew members look up in horror as they see the metallic airships looking down upon them like gods. Even Yuhan is shocked at the sight. "My intuition was right. They didn't have ironclads. They had something so devastating that it could render them useless. What have we done to deserve such luck?" Yuhan has her personality turned 180 from one of ignorance and confidence to one of realization and shock. The airships aim their machine guns, AA guns and turrets at the fleet and then.
*boom*
