(Author: Hello all. I am focusing on this story so I will have random releases of Jade Immortal. This is because I desire to write longer chapters from now on, but writing a chapter for two different stories everyday is tiring and real life events happen unexpectedly. One example is taking my brother to the movies and releasing the last chapter later at night (where I live anyway). To those wondering about an illustration picture on the main page: I can't draw to save my life. To those wondering about elves and orcs: this is a story with magic in it. I only have qi in it as I love xianxia novels and wanted to incorporate both into my own take on it. Also, dragon magic can be taught by any with draconic blood, but unique dragon magic can only be taught by the bloodline. Lastly, people can learn to use both mana and qi using unique methods such as Elgar binding Lava Tyrant, allowing him to cultivate qi in his right arm. I'm glad people like this story and will try to improve it as I write more chapters. Sorry for the long author's note this time around. In this chapter, the Prophecy is revealed. Every good fantasy story has a prophecy. It makes it all the more fun. Enjoy.)
Chapter 18: The Prophecy
Elgar held Void in his hand as he left the cafeteria first, wanting to find a suitable place to practice his magic without prying eyes watching. He no longer cared about House Dune but did not want to be distracted. He ventured to his room and visualized a teleportation circle. Once his three lich found an isolated area in the Chasm of Chaos, he would have them make another teleportation circle and train there while Magmar would continue to guard his room and alert him if someone asked for him.
Magmar happily agreed as it allowed the minion to stay in the room and cultivate spirit energy. Magmar's body was that of a dead scorpion but its mind comprised of seven different elementals. It did not need to eat or make waste. It did not need to sleep either so it could spend all its time gathering spirit energy.
Elgar was meditating in the training grounds in his dorm while Ulgor and Argolin spared. Ulgor used a staff with a blade on the bottom of the shaft while Argolin used twin swords. Both of Argolin's Violet Storm Bears were sparing against each other. Elgar opened his eyes as he sensed a massive amount of mana coming his way. It was ancient but the entity it belonged to did not emit any killing intent. In a flash, a middle-aged man with crimson hair and golden dragon horns arrived in front of him. What startled Elgar was that the man's eyes were golden like his left eye.
"You are Elgar Maltos. I can tell by the color of your left eye. I was told by your father that you had a different appearance but I suspect that you have changed while you were away," the 7th Elder said. "I am known as Isaac in the human tongue. I am your mother's father."
"Why do you have Qingyu's spirit energy in your veins?" Elgar asked as he took out Lava Tyrant and was surrounded in a baleful aura as he summoned two dozen bone wolf minions.
"How do you know that name?" Isaac asked and quietly approached his grandson.
Argolin and Ulgor left the training ground as they heard Isaac identify himself as Elgar's grandfather. They suspected it was a private conversation between dragons and wisely left, the two Violet Storm Bears leaving first as they were frightened of Isaac. Isaac cast a barrier around him and Elgar to prevent any eavesdroppers.
"You must be the ones trying to free Qingyu," Elgar laughed. "I see now. My mother must have been one of the Vessels, recipients of a part of Qingyu's soul and Her voice among you. Through the Vessels you learn of other potential Vessels as well as how to break Her shackles."
"How do you know so much?" Isaac asked, discovering his grandson was more than Edward had known. "I am the 7th Elder of the organization. I am in charge of the Vessels. I did not know that Her name would have been known by my own grandson. How did you learn of Her?"
"Let's just say I have known Her for a long time as if I were in a dream," Elgar shrugged. "My mother must have run away when she realized the price of being a Vessel as well as discovering that she was one. Why did you join the cause of freeing Her? Do you not know what She wished to do?"
"I was foolish and blinded by the power of Her spirit energy," Isaac sighed and shook his head. "Had I known that it would cost me my own daughter, I would never had joined the cause. Do not worry, any news of any Vessels is known to me first. I kill all but one of any discovered Vessels and have killed all of the Vessels who have learned of Her shackles as they received Her power. Worry not grandson of mine, with each Vessel created, She becomes weaker. She aims to have enough Vessels to weaken Herself enough to pour the rest of Her soul in a Vessel and be reborn when She is freed."
"I see. I assume you have a different reason to see me?" Elgar asked, satisfied with his new knowledge. He knew Qingyu's power first hand. He had known what She was but Her seductive mental abilities clouded his judgment while he was imprisoned.
"I am here to teach you your unique blood line dragon magic," Isaac said. "As a member of my lineage, once I awaken the bloodline in your body, no mental attacks, qi or mana, will affect you. It is a special trait and one of the reasons I became known as the 7th Elder. Even the Elder One is cautious and requires all Elders to be immune to mental powers. Another trait of our bloodline is that our exterior, dragon scale or otherwise, is so hard that steel shatters upon it and even low rank holy metal weapons with not scratch you. The unique dragon ability of my clan is telekinesis. This unique dragon ability uses your mana to move other people or items with your mind. Come and let me awaken your blood and implant the hereditary memories that will awaken your dragon magic. You can use the unique dragon magic of our clan but you must discover it within the fragments of your memories. It is our way. This concludes the dragon ritual known as the Ritual of White Fire."
Elgar knew of the awakening process as he once underwent his own as Zodimat had been awakened by his brood mother. He knelt on both knees breathed his white dragon flame. Isaac breathed his own white dragon flame and the two converged until Elgar was consumed by fire. He was not harmed as his dragon blood was strong and was immune to fire. It bathed him, spreading a warm feeling around him. It did not burn his clothes as he controlled it. Memories of dragons long dead entered his mind. He had seen fragments of their lives as they used telekinesis.
He had seen a golden dragon use telekinesis for the first time and lifted a boulder. He saw a crimson dragon splitting a lake in two to find treasure. He had seen an emerald dragon use telekinesis to rob a human army of their swords before raining them down at the human army. Each dragon had the same golden eyes and breathed the same white dragon flames. His mana supply had increased ten fold while Isaac continued to breathe fire at him.
"You are a true son of the Ancient Dragon Clan," Isaac said as he fire dissipated. "Immunity to fire is unique only to those of use in that clan. Regular dragons breathed ordinary dragon flames and have various eye colors. Only a member of the Ancient Dragon Clan can breathe white flames and have golden eyes at the same time. However, the Cold Ones are our enemies. As you have awakened, you will exhibit our rare aura. A baleful aura will emit from your body as you fight. The Cold Ones will know of your lineage and will attempt to kill you. Dragons call them Cold Ones, humans call them the Ice Brood."
"Dragons that have lost their sanity and live on pure instinct. They are the reasons humans feared us once. However, they are different as they are nothing but beasts and have lost the ability to breathe fire," Elgar said. "The Ice Brood live underwater and breathe ice. Many powerful societies of immortals and magical beasts are under the oceans and the Ice Brood control most of the oceans. Unlike the many dragon clans on the land, the Ice Brood is united as they contain dragons of all clans and follow a pack leader, an alpha. They live just as rabid wolves do. They are mindless beasts that are a disgrace to all dragons."
"That is correct. However, they will not try to harm you. You are...unique. You possess demon blood of the highest order as you have wings. The Ice Brood dare not attack you as their greatest allies are demons. Magical beasts and demons share a common affinity and are equally persecuted by humans. Under the water's surface, the only pure humans able to survive are very powerful experts of the ninth rank," Isaac said. "Most beings under that water are eighth and ninth rank magical beasts and demons. Do not venture there until you are at least of that rank. Might be decades or even centuries, but do not venture there until then. I must go now. Seeing your hair and your left eye reminds me of my daughter to whom I have failed. We will talk another time. Perhaps by then, you will have discovered the unique dragon magic and have mastered it well."
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Elgar stared silently at Isaac as he teleported. Elgar did have the ancient Demon King's ability to manipulate space and could only teleport within one hundred meters. Of his two demon magic spells, only one was unique. It was his Blood Mist spell. Using his mana, he could create dense cloud of black and crimson mist that drained the soul energy of his victims.
Soul energy was life force. It allowed someone to live longer lives than ordinary members of their race. Necromancers used soul energy and mana to create their minions Necromancers also lived longer lives as they were able to absorb soul energy alone without absorbing the soul energy within qi or mana. Elgar did not look different after the ritual, but he felt changed. His strength had increased and his skin felt soft but hard when aggregated.
"It appears that hidden forces also exist in this world," Elgar sighed as stood up and left the training ground with Void in his hand. "I wonder what you will become. You are definitely a snake, yet you have four legs and another head. Just what kind of snake magical beast are you?"
The Ritual of White Flames had an unexpected effect on Void as it was bathed in white dragon fire. Void seemed to feed on it and became a rank 3 magical beast. The color of its scales changed into pattern of gold and abyssal black colored scales with the scales of its underbelly as white as snow. Its eyes also changed and became the color of jade. After his grandfather left, Elgar had breathed white flame on Void which made Void even stronger. Void was also able to breathe a purple flame that not only burned on contact, it also poisoned the victim.
"Master?" Void asked using its mental link as his magical beast.
"You remind me of a powerful snake magical beast I know but your evolution is different,," Elgar laughed. "You are an interesting reptilian. To feed on dragon fire, is that why the First Dragon was curious enough to give you to me?"
"Welcome back. I'm guessing your grandfather taught you some magic?" Ulgor asked as Elgar and Void appeared. "Whoa! That snake of yours mutated! It has draconian blood for sure but isn't a drake as it still has its snake body."
"You seem stronger now," Argolin nodded. "You're aura has changed. It's more pure now. An even mix of demon and dragon. You only look human in appearance now. I have heard of the stories from my elders in the elven woods. They spoke of hereditary memories of dragons and how they taught their bloodline their unique magic through a sacred ritual."
"Half demon and half dragon, yet mostly human in appearance," Ulgor muttered, as if remembering an ancient verse from among his people. "A necromancer at that....You must be the one! One of the two missing heroes! I heard from my mother who was the tribe's shaman before she died and was replaced by my elder sister who was even more powerful in clairvoyant magic."
"What?" Argolin gasped and took a step back in shock. "One of the two heroes who went missing due to the failed hero summoning? You're the one?"
"I'd appreciate it if no one found out," Elgar said, a baleful violet aura appearing slowly from his body.
"Of course not," Ulgor stammered. "I heard of the prophecy of the heroes. The two heroes who went missing were the ones destined to stop or slay the Lady of the End. The other three would become twisted and tainted by her followers and unwittingly bring the end of the Mortal and Immortal Realms under the belief that they are saving it."
"I have also heard such a prophecy from my father, the king of elves of the woods in the north. To be your roommate, I will strive hard to help you save this world," Argolin bowed.
"And if I wished to rule a piece of it in the process and claim the title of Necromancer King?" Elgar asked. "And venture to the Immortal Realm after a few years and slay the false god Madorax?"
"So long as it is not a danger to my people, I will serve," Ulgor said and bowed on one knee with his head lowered.
"I too, will serve. I will not inherit my father's throne as I am the fourth son and I aim to tame magical beasts of many races. Following you, it is certain that many rare and powerful magical beasts will attempt to stop you. By your side, there is no greater method to achieve my goal," Argolin said and bowed as Ulgor did.
"Good," Elgar said and sat on the couch. "You have heard of the prophecy so you must know some of Her servants."
"Aye, that I do," Ulgor said. "Blood Stones follow Her will and many demons are in a secret civil war in their territories all over the world to serve or defy Her will. The blood letters are converting many demons and even the dragons have grown soft and threw away their pride to follow Her. We orcs call them Blood Stones. The humans commonly call them Gargoyles, winged statues with the body of a goblin and orc combined into one that feed on the soul energy within the blood of their victims. When the victim dies and the Gargoyle is of at least the eighth rank, the corpse mutates into stone and another Gargoyle is born. They are immune to magic and only those who cultivate qi can kill them."
"Creatures that hide in the night follow Her will," Argolin said. "They flock to her like sheep, listening to Her lies. She tells them promises of glory and power. She shows them visions of their greatest desires and twists them from their purpose. The undead fight against Her, but the living get in their way out of ignorance and fear of what they do not understand. Blood mages adore Her and She shows them the grotesque and teaches them Her spells. She is the Lady of the End, an evil that even the echelons of the Divine Realm fear. The Mortal Realm is Her prison. Madorax is Her bane, but he too has been twisted and commits evils in the name of justice. To kill them both is to save the Mortal and Immortal Realms. The day the Goddess seduces Madorax at last, is the End of Days. If one yet lives, the End will come. Madorax knows but denies that he is Lord of the End. When the Lord and Lady join hands, not even the Divine Realm can stop them. Divided, they are weak. Divided, they can be killed."
"The words of the prophecy speaks of five heroes, summoned from the other planets and galaxies of the Mortal Realm. They will appear in the planet where She is shackled," Ulgor began, chanting the prophecy with fear and awe. "Three will be summoned in Heroes Circle. Two of Three and Doom of Two shall fall to darkness. Only of the Three will walk the path of good. Two Heroes will be reborn in wombs of unknown histories. They will determine the Survival or End of Days. One of the missing is destined to free Her. His desire will be our Doom. One Hero will be blinded by Lust and become Her champion. He is one of two born pure human. One will die by Her Vessels, the Hero's death sparking the beginning of the War of Days. The two who are missing must slay or free Her. It is their fate and their destiny. Two more of the Heroes shall fall and one will be forever changed."
"So am I Doom, the Hero destined to free Her, or am I one of the two Heroes? Maybe I am the one whose death will start the War of Days. Either way, two Heroes walk the path of evil and two others walk the path of good. One Hero just dies to start it all. How amusing," Elgar laughed as he stroked Void's head. "I must know more."
